How to Start Your Art Collection: Exclusive Visit to Artist Studio

How to Start Your Art Collection: Exclusive Visit to Artist Studio

Tue, Aug 4, 4:00 PM
From Art Lovers Berlin

Today we look at the works of an artist who over the past two decades, has built an oeuvre consisting primarily of screen prints on paper and canvas. Prior to that, the artist had worked extensively in photography, filmmaking, and set design. The screenprinting work is informed by architecture - ancient and modern structures, calligraphy, graffiti, handwriting, and the movement of the masses through big metropolises. Other techniques on paper are included in the visit - from lithography to etching, cyanotype to woodblock printing - and more! Please note, the studio visit starts promptly at 12:00. This studio is located on the top floor and has no elevator: you will have to walk four flights of stairs. Beverages will be served, poetry may be read. The event is hosted on donation basis between €25-35. GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT OUR STUDIO VISITS: Get to know a handful of carefully selected artists who are enhancing, interjecting, and challenging art history through new media, new ideas, and new formats. Every artist builds their own universe, and for one exclusive afternoon, we are welcome into their sacred space of creation. The artist will tell their story and you are free to ask questions, engage in dialogue, and leave feeling inspired - and even with a beautiful new artwork to illuminate your space!

Guided Walking Tour around Tempelhof and the Schultheiss Malt House

Guided Walking Tour around Tempelhof and the Schultheiss Malt House

Fri, Aug 7, 4:20 PM
From Berlin Evening Socials
4.3

# **Guided Walking Tour around Tempelhof and the Schultheiss Malt House** **Meet Time:** 18:20 **Meet Place:** Tempelhof S-Bahn Station Join me on an evening historical walk through one of Berlin's most fascinating industrial districts: **Tempelhof**. **The plan:** We'll grab a *Wegbier* and explore the industrial heritage of Tempelhof, following the story of beer, teltow canal, architecture and mass production. Our focus will be the impressive former **Schultheiss malt house**, one of the hidden giants of Berlin's brewing history. We'll explore one of Berlin's big industrial complexes, walk round some beautiful inter-war estates and visit Tempelhofer Hafen. Beer together in the sunshine at the end. The growth of Schultheiss was closely connected to Berlin's expanding population, new transport networks and the development of modern industrial production. The former Schultheiss malt house in Tempelhof tells a fascinating story of this era. Built on a huge scale, it processed the malt needed for one of Berlin's most famous beers and formed part of a wider industrial landscape of warehouses, railways, canals and factories. Alongside it, Tempelhof became home to some of the city's most ambitious engineering projects, including the famous Ullsteinhaus and the nearby harbour. If you like history, want to discover more about Berlin beyond the usual stories of the Nazis and the Cold War, and would like to take part in a sociable evening of exploration and discussion, come along. I am an accredited tour guide in Berlin, specialising in telling stories about the city's industrial heritage. I charge a small fee of **€5** to organise the tour and share my knowledge. ## **Highlights** 🍺 Discover the story of Schultheiss, one of Berlin's legendary breweries 🏭 Explore the enormous former Schultheiss malt house and its industrial architecture 🌾 Learn how malt production, brewing and transport helped fuel Berlin's growth 🚂 Discover how railways and waterways connected breweries with the wider city 🏗️ Admire the impressive industrial buildings of Tempelhof, including the famous Ullsteinhaus ⚙️ Explore how industrial production transformed Berlin from a nineteenth-century city into a modern metropolis 🌊 Walk along Tempelhofer Hafen and discover the importance of Berlin's waterways 📖 Hear stories of workers, industry, beer culture and everyday life in industrial Berlin 📸 Enjoy fantastic photography opportunities among Tempelhof's hidden industrial landmarks 🍺 Finish with a relaxed drink together by the water We meet outside **Tempelhof S-Bahn station** before setting off through the industrial landscapes of the district. We will finish at Tempelhofer Hafen, where we can enjoy a drink together and continue the evening. Hope to see you there! **Simon**
