LGBTQ Gayme Night - in person - Queens
Mon, Jul 27, 10:30 PMAn in person event in Queens at the new location of the Queens LGBT Center. 35-11 35th Avenue, in the Astoria section. Directions are below. Online info at www.lgbtnetwork.org We'll have some fun and play games. So let's do this in person, like we used to before Covid. Masks are optional. Directions - nearest stop is Steinway Street on the M and R trains. From out of Queens, get out at the rear exit at the back of the train. From in Queens, get out at the front exit. When you reach the street, walk straight ahead, don't turn. Go to 35th Avenue and turn right. You will pass several places to eat, including Subway, Panera Bread and Applebees. Go a couple of blocks further. Look for the LGBT network signs across the street from the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts. Enter and see the receptionist. You will check in with your cell phone. You can also take the N or W trains to 36th Avenue. Walk from there to 35th Ave and turn right. It's about four blocks, give or take. If you RSVP and discover you cannot attend, change your RSVP to NO. There will be snacks and beverages available. Space is limited. Join us. You'll have a gay old time. There will be others in attendance who did not RSVP for this.

Then, we will dive into **Part 1 of David Deida’s The Way of the Superior Man**. You do not need to have finished it or agree with everything in the book. Come with a passage that stuck with you, an idea you disagreed with, a question you have been wrestling with, or simply some curiosity. We’ll use the book as a starting point to talk about bigger questions: What does it mean to live with purpose? How do you become more grounded and authentic in your relationships? What are you currently trying to figure out in your own life? The goal is not to sit around pretending we have all the answers (because we don't). It is to have the kind of honest conversation that is hard to find elsewhere. Whether you’re single, dating, in a relationship, married, starting over, or anywhere in between, and regardless of your age, you’re welcome. NYCYDC - Monthly Competitive Swiss Tournament
Sat, Aug 8, 7:00 PMDuelists, prepare for battle! NYCYDC presents its own monthly competitive Swiss tournament to give members a feel of what it’s like to partake in locals, Regionals and even YCS! These tournaments are far from casual as duelists will bring their very best and strongest decks to compete. A test of skills and wit, expect a tough competition. These monthly tournaments will follow advanced format rules such as 50 minute matches and double loss time rules. Official tournament start time will be 3:30pm. Arrive early to prepare! Rules: 1. As per tournament rules, you must play 1 deck from start to finish. Switching decks will result in a penalty such as a game loss. Failure to comply will result in a disqualification from the tournament. 2. Arrive on time and be ready for your match! If you are not present for the first 5 minutes of your match you will receive a game loss. After 10 minutes you will receive a match loss. Time is sacred! 3. Sportsmanship and respect is mandatory. If we receive complaints of disrespect and misconduct you will receive a warning. A second offense will result in a disqualification. 4. There will be judge(s) present. Any conflict at during a match or question must be resolved with a judge. 5. Double loss will be applied. If a match winner has not been decided and declared by the end of the timer, both players will receive a double loss. 6. Slow play of any kind will not be tolerated. If you believe your opponent is slow playing, don’t hesitate! Call the judge! A judge will deal with the matter at hand. 7. Focus on your match! No devices should be present unless it’s to count LP! Don’t distract other duelists from their match as well. 8. No backseat dueling or request for assistance! Learn your deck and play on your own! If we catch you asking for advice you will receive a warning. The most important rule of any tournament is to have fun! IMPORTANT: Respect your RSVP! You must RSVP in order to participate. If you show up you’re expected to participate as a player.
