**Saturday, July 18th, 11:00AM-3:00 PM EDT** **SDN Goes to the Met: A Service Safari Experience** **Event Description** One of the great tools that Service Designers have in their toolset is the service safari, an exercise where a project team goes out into the wild and acts as customers to experience a product, service, or environment firsthand. The exercise helps you build deep empathy, uncover real-world pain points, and reveal gaps in your customer journey that traditional surveys or interviews might miss. On Saturday, July 18th we invite you to join us as we take a service safari to one of the crown jewels of New York City: The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Attendees will break into groups and get an opportunity to practice this research technique firsthand within the museum itself. At the end of the day we will share our findings and gather for food and drink. **About Our Guide** **Peter March** Peter is a UX and experience design leader with 15+ years shaping products for Fortune 500 brands. His design practice spans across digital and real world touchpoints, bringing UX rigor to environments like events, exhibits, and retail. Free Outdoor Origami Classes with 34th Street Partnership

The 34th Street Partnership's free weekly outdoor origami classes are returning to Greeley Square for the summer! All ages and skill levels are welcome, and all materials are provided. No registration is required. Classes in May and June will be taught by Deb Pun, and will take place from 1-2pm on Mondays through June 29. July and August classes will be taught by Kika Salgo and will take place from 3-4pm on Tuesdays through August 25. The classes are held in Greeley Square Park, by the statue of Horace Greeley near the southern end of the park. Ego Free Jam - First Saturdays

The Ego Free Jam is a monthly night of improvisational music for musicians and sound makers of all skill levels. **WHAT HAPPENS?** Together we go on two improvisational music and sound making journeys - electronic and acoustic - each lasting about 2 hours, with emphasis placed on listening to and supporting each other. Dancing and body movement are encouraged, feel free to make art, or just listen. There are no spectators, only creators. Allow for the magic to happen! The opening ritual is an invitation to overcome our resistance to self-expression. The Delight Factory has three areas, the main area is for music making, the bar and back yard areas are for conversations. **WHY ‘EGO FREE’?** The ego is the part of us that wants to keep us safe in the world and tries to make us NOT do something. It shows up as fear and embarrassment. When we get the urge to "do it right” out of the way, we can play, improvise, take a little risk, mess up, see that it didn't kill us, and feel the delight in that piece of freedom. **DO I NEED TO BE A MUSICIAN?** Not at all. You can pick up an instrument and improvise, vocalize, move your body, make something, or just listen. **WHAT TO BRING?** You are encouraged to bring an instrument, dancing body, art supplies, yoga mat, favorite toy, whatever inspires you and is fun for you. WTF (Weekly Tuesday Folders)

**NEW LOCATION:** OMG NYC (Origami Meetup Group! New York City) is a group for people to come together and share in the beautiful art of Origami - an ancient art of folding various mediums, most commonly paper. The word comes from the combination of the Japanese verb oru (to fold) and the noun kami (paper). Other materials often folded are fabric, wire mesh, sheet metal, tissue, thin plastic, cardboard, and straws. We meet as a group to teach each other new models and share paper, books, and tips. This meeting is free and open to all level of folders from beginners to advanced. There will be free paper available to share. You can bring your own paper and books, so you can just show up and fold! If you have models you would like to learn, or teach, let us know and we will try our best to accommodate. OMG NYC's WTF (Weekly Tuesday Folders) meetup is now located at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Library at 455 5th Avenue. The meeting is on the 3rd floor in room 303. It should be a lot of fun and more intimate than our once a month big meetings. A great place to learn some new models and also get help on models you're been stuck on. Bring your latest folds and creations for show and tell and your favorite models to teach and learn. This meeting is free and open to all level of folders from beginners to advanced folders. Bring paper and your books and also there will always be free paper available so you can just show up and fold! Please try to RSVP so others will know you will be there.
