The Hideout Side Quest #2: Archery & Team Challenge

The Hideout Side Quest #2: Archery & Team Challenge

Sat, Aug 22, 8:30 AM
From The Hideout

## **What are The Hideout Side Quests?** The Hideout Side Quests are half-day pop-up events for adults in and around Berlin to step into The Hideout world without disappearing for a whole weekend. Not the full camp weekend. Just a little piece of it. Come play, make something, meet people, and remember that weekends can feel different. Want the full version? Get on the Summer Camp 2027 waitlist [here](https://tally.so/r/WOAzVP?utm_source=luma). Stay in touch 👉[ Website](https://www.comehideout.com/?utm_source=luma) I [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/come.hideout?utm_source=luma) ## Event Description A summer afternoon for grown-ups who want to go outside, try something new, and briefly become the kind of person who says things like, “I think I’m actually getting good at this.” We’ll learn the basics of archery, get some practice in, split into teams, and end with a friendly challenge where everyone gets weirdly invested in points, targets, and probably one very dramatic final shot. This is not just an archery lesson, it’s archery with camp energy! Beginner-friendly instruction, team challenges, tiny prizes, light chaos, and a roomful of adults taking fun just seriously enough. No experience needed or athletic personality required, just show up, try to shoot arrows, cheer for your team, and maybe discover that you have excellent main-character-with-a-bow energy 😉 ## What to Expect * Beginner-friendly archery lesson * Practice time with guidance * Team-based archery challenges * A final mini tournament * Tiny prizes for the winning team and a few very official categories that may or may not matter in the real world. * Time to hang out before/after * A relaxed, playful group setting Come alone or bring a friend. We’ll sort the teams. ***Please note:*** *This event will run with a minimum of 10 participants. If we don’t reach the minimum, tickets will be refunded.* ## What’s Included Your ticket includes the archery lesson, equipment, guided practice, team setup, hosted challenge rounds, water, snacks, prizes\*, and the very serious administration of unserious competition. You just show up. We’ll sort the rest. ## Good to Know Please arrive at 10:30 so we can say hi, sort teams, and ease into the “adult summer camp but with bows and arrows” portion of the day. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes you can move in. Full details on the meeting point and what to bring will be shared before the event. **10:30 - Step into The Hideout world** Arrival, check-in, team sorting, beginner nerves welcomed **11:00 - Bows, arrows, and mild drama** Archery lesson, guided practice, and team challenges **13:45 - Tiny awards + Proof You Were Here** Final recognition, group photo, dramatic last looks at the target **14:00 - Official end** ***Optional:*** *nearby food & drinks / hangout after* ## The Hideout Rule Come ready to enter The Hideout. That means trying something new, joining a team, cheering for strangers, and caring about your team score a tiny bit more than expected. You do not have to be good at anything. You just have to be game. \* We’ll also be watching for things like most dramatic shot, most improved, and best commitment to the game. So basically, skill helps, but energy also counts!

Blood on the Clocktower at Manifesto! (beginner/intermediate)

Blood on the Clocktower at Manifesto! (beginner/intermediate)

Sun, Aug 23, 1:00 PM
From Berlin Board Gamers
4.8

Hi folks, this is the meetup group for the weekly Sunday Blood on the Clocktower games in the Soot bar in Manifesto at Potsdamer Platz. We run beginner-friendly and intermediate-level games throughout the afternoon and evening. **Friendly newcomers of all skill levels are welcome, no experience required!** Our group aims to provide a fun and welcoming space to experience this thrilling game of social deception. **We focus on promoting a positive and fun group atmosphere, where players don’t take themselves or the game too seriously, whether they’re heroically winning or spectacularly losing.** Our players follow the code of conduct for the Berlin Board Gamers group and are expected to treat each other with respect and consideration – “killing with grace, and dying with dignity”. We are usually able to offer two simultaneous games on Sundays. If you are marked as "attending" in Meetup and are in your seat at 15:00, your place is guaranteed for as long as you want to stay. All other seats are first come, first served. We always run at least one beginner-friendly game of the basic version of Clocktower ("Trouble Brewing") throughout the afternoon and evening. We also usually have enough players for a second intermediate-level game. If you are already very familiar with Clocktower, consider also joining our Tuesday meetup for advanced players, when we play with complex custom scripts and characters. Blood on the Clocktower is a deep, mechanical game of murder and mystery, lies and logic, deduction and deception… think Werewolf on steroids. Each player receives a unique secret role and plays either for the good team – the uninformed majority, gathering info and working with others to solve the puzzle – or the evil team, the informed minority, scheming to eliminate good players and protect their demon from execution. In our beginner games no prior experience is expected and we will gladly explain the game rules to any newcomers. We play in English so players should be able to understand and express themselves in English: an exception is possible for one pair of players willing to play together (as a “Revolutionary” pair) where one player can interpret into and out of English. Please let us know in advance if this is the case. We are very grateful to the wonderful folks at Manifesto for hosting our meetup! **Please support the venue during your visit by buying drinks and/or food.**

Silent Reading Club

Silent Reading Club

Sun, Aug 23, 9:00 AM
From Offenes Wohnzimmer: Moabit Nachbarschaft
4.8

Ditch the old book club, where everyone has to read the same book...this is better! It works like this: Bring your own book. Come chat, have some tea or coffee, get to know your neighbors. Then we quietly read together, side by side, for about one hour, each one reading their own book, and afterwards we talk with each other about what we are reading. The usual agenda: - Arrival and introduction (~20 minutes) - Silent reading (~1 hour) - Discussion (~30-40 minutes) - Join us for a bite at a local restaurant afterwards, if you like! You may read in any language, you may read any book. We are a group of international residents of Berlin from many different countries, of all ages, and we converse in English. We welcome you! No registration needed – the event is donation based. All funds support the Offenes Wohnzimmer.

Let’s Play Backgammon! - Play, Socialize & Have Fun

Let’s Play Backgammon! - Play, Socialize & Have Fun

Sun, Aug 23, 12:00 PM
From Backgammon Berlin
4.9

Join our Backgammon Meetup to play, socialize, and enjoy this classic game! Everyone’s welcome! Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced player. Expect fun, friendly games, laughter, and new friends. With the nice weather and the beautiful lakeside setting, it’s a perfect place to enjoy a few games and spend time together. Hopefully we can make the most of a sunny summer afternoon! ☀️🎲⛲️🍻🌳 👉 Please RSVP only if you plan to attend. 👉 Bring your own set if you have one. **How to Play (Quick Guide):** - Each player has 15 checkers and moves them toward their home board. - Dice rolls decide how many spaces you can move. - Land on an opponent’s single checker to send it to the bar. - Once all your checkers are home, start bearing off (removing them). - First to remove all checkers wins! **Fun Fact:** The Origin of Backgammon: Backgammon is one of the oldest known board games, with roots deeply embedded in the ancient civilisations of Mesopotamia. But it is in Persia, where the game truly flourished and evolved into what we now know as 'Takhte Nard'. Archaeological findings suggest that early forms of backgammon were played in Iran over 5,000 years ago. Artifacts such as game boards and dice have been discovered in sites like 'Shahr-e Sukhteh' (The Burnt City), indicating the game’s ancient origins.
