PEACES: A framework for practical sustainanbility
Thu, Feb 19, 5:30 PM**A practical approach to understanding, creating and maintaining balance across 6 dimensions of sustainability.** A talk and workshop by Scott Bolden, co-founder of Baumhaus Berlin. What does it mean to live a sustainable life while contributing to creating a sustainable society and world? What are some practical and effective ways in our daily life to achieve these objectives in the short and long term? **PEACES is an acronym** describing six integrated areas of sustainability (**Personal, Ecologic, Aesthetic, Cultural, Economic & Social**) where we as individuals as well as organizations can have direct and positive impact on ourselves each other and the world right now. During this short workshop, Scott will explain the framework and give practical examples in the context of how the framework applies to what happens in everyday life. Participants of all levels of experience are invited to join in the conversation and also identify some practical steps that they can start taking on their path towards living a sustainable life. • Please arrive early enough to have time to explore and settle in so we can get the most out of our time together • Bring a notebook and an open mind... Besides, doesn't it make sense that a truly sustainable society would be composed of more balanced individuals? **The Inner Commons is an intuitively understandable, flexible and contextual framework** developed by Scott Bolden that can be used to catalyze a process of self understanding and resolving common issues we all deal with. The concepts discussed in this workshop are based on simple, root level, universal experiences of the human condition and a bit of common sense. Intensive states of awareness are possible. Through **conscious, connected breathing**, rhythmic music, and guided facilitation, participants are invited to access deeper layers of awareness, release stored stress and emotions, and reconnect with their inner resources. There are **no substances involved**. The work is grounded, body-based, and trauma-aware. We‘ll quietly explore known owl areas and listen for calls, movement, and other signs of these fascinating nocturnal birds at daylight. Along the way, we’ll also observe other bird species, learn about the urban environment, and talk about how wildlife adapts to life in the city. The walk is guided in English by Marcel Gerson, wildlife biologist and experienced nature guide.
