Sat, Jun 20, 7:11 AMJoin us for a long tranquil hike in the New Forest to experience ancient woodland, beautiful heathland, natural scenes and a chance to see many wild horses - and this hike is timed for the foal season! A living and working place where ponies, donkeys and cattle freely graze the land and help to keep the patchwork of different habitats intact. Deeper in the forest, wild deer stroll beneath canopies of mighty oak and beech - *to truly appriciate this hike and hopefully see some wildlife, it would be wondeful if we could all aim to have less chatter/noise whilst in the forest.* 🟠 **HIKE:** 📏 31km (19 miles) 🏔️ Elev. Bexhill, Battle & Swim – Long Hilly Country Hike
Sat, Jun 6, 7:00 AMWalk length 16miles/25km Circular A picturesque route from the Town of Bexhill to Battle across scenic countryside much of it using the 1066 Country Walk trail and exploring woods such as Powdermill Wood and Fore Wood Nature Reserve. The lunch stop will be at the small town of Battle made famous as the site of the Battle of Hastings. We will try to enjoy a swim at Bexhill at the end of the walk weather permitting. The hike is Circular from Bexhill and starts from Bexhill Rail Station Rail Station at 10.15am after the train from London arrives. Meeting at London: Meet from 8.00am at London Victoria station (close to the Gatwick Express meeting point close to platform 13 & 14, see photo below) to get the 8.24am train arriving at Bexhill for 10.13am (please be prompt if you want to get group saves. The 8.24am gets to Bexhill for 10.13am (one change at Hampden Park (Sussex), There are regular trains back to London. Train ticket from £21 return, discounts available with a network railcard or as part of a group save, southern rail also does online ticket offers. Watlington Hill, The Ridgeway & Cowleaze Wood – Long & Medium Country Hike

A really picturesque circular walk from Saunderton Station up to Watlington Hill across a variety of landscapes from scenic views to wooded tracks, with a number of hill climbs. Some of this walk is on the Ridgeway National Trail, a path that follows tracks going back to prehistoric times and was used by travelers and herdsman. Lunch and Finish: Please bring a snack lunch and water for the hike (rustic, no facilities). The hike should finish before 5.30pm, however the time may be slightly earlier or later than this depending on the weather and pace. There is a nice pub very close to the station at the end which we can use for drinks if you need to wait for the train. THIS HIKE IS A HARD LONG HIKE WITH A NUMBER OF SUBSTANTIAL HILLS, PLEASE DO NOT SIGN UP IF YOU WANT AN EASY SHORT HIKE. If the weather is not suitable for a long hike close to the day I may change the hike for a shorter version. Meeting Train from London. The 8.53am from London Marylebone gets to Saunderton for 9.52am. You are advised to meet from 8.30am to give you time to get tickets or groupsaves. If coming from London I suggest meeting close to the WHSmiths at London Marylebone for any group saves (see photo below) The organizer is not coming by train for this hike but will meet you at Saunderton. There is a possibility of doing half this hike as it is a figure of eight you could park your car at Stokenchurch (please contact organizer if you fancy this option).
