Hudson Greenway / Riverbank State Park Ride

Hudson Greenway / Riverbank State Park Ride

Sun, May 17, 3:00 PM
From Brompton New York
4.9

Let’s ride our Bromptons from Lower Manhattan to Riverbank State Park across from 145th street for a picnic by the Hudson River and back! This is a 15-mile social ride at a slow pace, for Brompton bicycles only. **DETAILS** We’ll meet at the Hudson Greenway rest stop next to Christopher Street Pier, right across from Christopher Street and depart punctually after 30 minutes of socializing. We’ll roll at 11:30am sharp. At the meeting point, there are restrooms for us to use. If needed, restrooms will also be available at 43rd St and 69th St right by the Hudson Greenway. The entire route is on a paved, comfortable bike path, with very little traffic to cross and no major obstacles to expect. At Riverbank State Park, we will spread out on the grass, overlooking the Hudson River and have a picnic. After the picnic, we will ride back on the Hudson Greenway, just as we came, with the option for riders to either drop out when they are close to home or follow us across the Brooklyn Bridge into DUMBO, Brooklyn. We will have a small After Party on our rooftop terrace to round off the glorious day. **RIDE LEVEL:** Chill / Relaxed Pace: 16 kmh / 10 mph Distance: 15-19 miles (depending on your choice to ride back) There will be at least one short stop along the way. Everyone is welcome, no one will be left behind. **WHAT TO BRING** * Sunglasses * Please ensure your tires are inflated and your bike is in good working order * Spare inner tube in case of flats - everyone should bring this * Blanket and/or towel to sit on * Let us know in the comments if you plan to bring a pump as we’ll want a few of them spread around the group. **PICNIC** Please bring your own beverage, and snacks to share. We are planning to have a nice. leisurely picnic with a bounty of appetizers/tapas, e.g. bread, cheese, salads, wine etc. **PLEASE MAINTAIN YOUR RSVP!** If you can’t attend, please update your RSVP so someone from the waiting list can have your spot. Riders with a history of “no shows” may be removed from the ride in favor of others on the waiting list. **PLEASE RESPECT THE WAITING LIST!** We need to maintain our maximum rider-to-leader/helper ratio and cannot include more riders than we officially confirm on Meetup, so please respect the waiting list, thanks! **Happy Riding!** \* \* \* \* \* \* \* \* \* \* \* \* \* \* \* \* Our Community Rules: 1. Every Wednesday! Anyone looking for inspiration and community for your morning ride? Let's ride the Prospect Park Loop with a pack of Bromptons. We'll ride two times around Prospect Park. This is intended as a short and sweet ride before your morning commute and people typically depart the cafe around 9-9:30am. You can view the route on [Ride with GPS](https://ridewithgps.com/routes/46497135) *We stick to our departure time: 7:35am* *As a morning ride, we need to ensure a consistent start time so people can plan around it for their work day. Thus, we'll unfold and ride at 7:35am. If you are running late, please post in the comments and we'll meet you for the second loop.* Happy Riding! Bike the West Side Hwy from South Ferry to GW Bridge

Bike the West Side Hwy from South Ferry to GW Bridge

Sat, May 30, 5:00 PM
From Women Who Don't Drink and are still cool AF
4.7

postponed to May due to inconvenient fall weather during spring :/ Bike from Whitehall South Ferry to the GW Bridge. We will meet where the ferry lets bikers exit at the lower level. (If you're facing the ferry terminal then the exit is on the right where you see all the people at the bottom level of the boat exiting) We will take off shortly after 1pm (\~5 minute grace period). This will be a leisurely ride ; I have a class 1 ebike that I keep on level 2 or 3 as I'm training for the 5 boro bike tour May 3rd. The entire ride is \~22 miles back and forth. If you only want to join for the ride up- that's also fine (it's \~11 miles). Feel free to rent a citibike for the ride. There are approximately 3 "challenging" hills to get up. There are picnic tables right under the bridge that we can rest at and chat for at least a half an hour before we do the 10 miles back or people can do their own thing depending how tired they are. You can join for all or some of the ride. What to bring: extra sunscreen; bike repair kit if you have it; water/snacks for yourself; sunglasses to avoid pollen. Things to be aware of; on beautiful days the west side high way can be very congested so we'll practice safety as best as possible and most times have to ride single file. If you stop to take a break you can always catch up with us (I'll give my number to whomever wants to be able to text me during the ride). How to find me: I have electric blue hair and am Chilean. My bike is bright orange and my helmet is teal.

Sat, May 16, 10:30 AM
From Neverwinter Free Hiking and Cycling
4.7

It's a free event! Only rain can stop us! Dear Neverwinterers, it's time to do one of our most famous rides through NY, CT and MA via the Harlem Valley Trail. We will have numerous stops and possibly visit the lakes. This route has plenty of places where you can refill the water and it is very environmentally friendly. Half of the trail goes via a protected bicycle lane, where you will never see cars. There will be some small hills but most of the time it will be flat ground. Because everyone has their own cycling pace, we might split into groups at some point. May 16 (Saturday) Starts/Ends at: **6:30 AM at Grand Central Terminal** (at the middle of the hall, around Service desk) [https://goo.gl/maps/H6dDssrmuztGgQQXA](https://goo.gl/maps/H6dDssrmuztGgQQXA) or 10:05 AM at Wassaic train station (parking lot) [https://goo.gl/maps/6kWtXz2Q9P67Rbkx7](https://goo.gl/maps/6kWtXz2Q9P67Rbkx7) Map: [) Google map: [https://goo.gl/maps/F8NTDnRDR1ndcQGaA](https://goo.gl/maps/F8NTDnRDR1ndcQGaA) About 8 hours ride (average speed **12 miles/hr**) Total elevation: **2218ft** Road type: 100% paved Total distance: about 70 miles (please take this into consideration as this event is not for rookies) Some of us might drive directly to Wassaic, so ask in group if they have space for you and your bike.
