How One Woman Shut Down the Last Animal Shelter Gas Chamber in the Country!

How One Woman Shut Down the Last Animal Shelter Gas Chamber in the Country!

Sat, Jul 25, 6:00 PM
From Direct Action Everywhere: People Who Love Animals
4.9

Did you know some animal shelters/control facilities use gas chambers to kill “unadoptable” companion animals? Well, they don't anymore thanks to Madhu Anderson, founder of Wyoming Against Gas Chambers! At this Meetup Madhu will share the story of how she successfully eliminated the last two gas chambers in the country used at municipal animal control facilities. In a world with so much cruelty and suffering we can often feel like we’re not making an impact. This victory is an important example of how our hard work and dedication, even if we are just one person, does make a difference! Fresh coffee, tea, and a delicious plant-based brunch will be provided at the Meetup as well! **Where:** Berkeley Animal Rights Center West (2414 6th St, Berkeley) **When:** Saturday, July 25th 11am-12:30pm **What:** Community hangout and presentation \- ARC West is a 30 minute walk from North Berkeley BART and only a 10 minute walk from the 51B bus stop at University and 6th St\. \- Dogs that like other dogs are welcome at this event\! \- There will be plant\-based brunch and coffee\, donations accepted \- If you cannot join in person\, you can join at 11:15am on Zoom at this link: [dxe.io/meetupzoom](https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fdxe.io%2Fmeetupzoom%3Ffbclid%3DIwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAYnJpZBExenhTSjRYbU1sZmVhUm5LbnNydGMGYXBwX2lkEDIyMjAzOTE3ODgyMDA4OTIAAR4OAhZGVb7wWLSifPL3S73BRG2UyLpcL7Q_Lgxn4zEeeqz3nLqfAxLMzDIZlA_aem_A4vpFjWg_aLc9Wl8QA9MAg&h=AUAOu94-NwoWZ4hFxug-465PVeh-43BjGELwdG7qzALiK2ePpTatyMBMEiPvLfQo_YsWw_fHb464owLsaWzya1loXbSyOpt7qeSeRG3pfJAkOjmtMUSTV4ocO05dx8tYifiFUx2NH9ToaoVwCX7v_nQ_ZuXHsRnL&__tn__=q&c%5B0%5D=AUCs5ycOtwiVRLSENGO9fsKi0DBdx7K_vZV0f1hM16Yn781xGXSF7ShqQBNIfbG0QD49duMUiAqqMeXjs7Xg_boNhBBlJg6KEfSM3XWI0r8GMG5246fgCut48nzTQJ-emBHIQvIiupEIoFWiGlYgQTlre-DSQlVqd4Q) Every Saturday at 11am we have Meetups for everyone and anyone who cares about animals and making the world a better place! Whistleblower on Mass Graves @ Miranda’s “Rescue” - What Happened & What to Do

Whistleblower on Mass Graves @ Miranda’s “Rescue” - What Happened & What to Do

Sat, Aug 1, 6:00 PM
From Direct Action Everywhere: People Who Love Animals
4.9

Miranda’s “no-kill rescue” in Humboldt County has been exposed for shooting hundreds of dogs and burying them in mass graves. For over 20 years, Jennifer Raymond has been trying to hold the “rescue” accountable. Her concerns were ignored until she and her friend, Jenna Moore, snuck onto the property and dug up the bodies of eight freshly-killed dogs. This heart-wrenching situation is still unfolding and at this Meetup we will hear from Jennifer about her experiences and the history of her efforts to expose Mirandas. We will also hear from Kevin Johnson, founder of Coffee Companions, and Dan Martinez, founder of Adopt my Block, about how we can help hold Miranda’s accountable and how we can support legitimate rescue organizations. In addition to being a crucial whistleblower, Jennifer Raymond is the founder of the Humboldt Spay/Neuter Network and Humboldt Critters Without Litters.
