SOULSONG
Sat, Apr 25, 2:30 AM### Spirit · Singing · Ceremony with Kid Beyond *In-person only* **SOULSONG** is a new kind of spiritual community — where meditation and dharma meet singing and ceremony. Dharma teacher / songleader Kid Beyond will offer a soul-nurturing alchemy of meditation, reflection, and group singing — with songs of love and joy… tenderness and connection… gratitude and inspiration. Together, in loving community, we can let our hearts open wide — deeply embodied, vibrantly alive. You don’t need to be a “good singer” or a “good meditator.” The songs and practices are easy to learn. All voices, bodies, and hearts are welcome. **Kid Beyond** is a dharma teacher, soul singer, songleader, and soul guide. He is devoted to helping hearts open to love, aliveness, wisdom, and healing. Trained and authorized by Spirit Rock, in the Thai Forest lineage of Buddhism, he has guided thousands of students in his classes, workshops, and retreats. He has taught mindfulness in the US Congress; led the SF County Jail’s meditation and yoga program; guided adults and teens at Spirit Rock; led the weekly Heart Camp sangha for 6 years; taught mindful men’s groups; and served as a Fitbit Mindfulness Advisor, bringing well-being practices to corporations, the military, and government. His Love Warrior music has riveted audiences worldwide — playing festivals such as Coachella and SXSW, and opening for James Brown, Ray Charles, Michael Franti, Imogen Heap, LL Cool J, and many more. Meetup: Mass Beagle Rescue Attempt and the Strategy of Open Rescue
Sat, Apr 25, 6:00 PMOver the weekend over 1,000 compassionate people went to Ridglan Farms, a massive puppy mill that breeds dogs for experimentation, to try to save the lives of the approximately 2,000 beagles who are still languishing inside of the facility. These brave and compassionate people were met with violence and brutality from the police. Join us at the Meetup to hear more about what happened during the rescue attempt and discuss open rescue as a strategy to help achieve animal liberation. More context about Ridglan: Ridglan Farms is a puppy mill in Wisconsin that breeds dogs for experimentation. For years activists have been working to shut the facility down and get all the dogs adopted to safe, loving homes. Investigators have been exposing criminal animal abuse at the facility since 2017. After a year long effort to get Ridglan prosecuted for criminal animal cruelty, the company managed to negotiate their way out of felony animal cruelty charges. The breeding facility is set to shut down (to avoid criminal charges) but the thousands of beagles languishing inside are still at risk of being euthanized or sold for cruel experiments. So activists took action to save their lives. You can view the livestream of the rescue at: [https://www.facebook.com/directactioneverywhere/videos/2154169428456731](https://www.facebook.com/directactioneverywhere/videos/2154169428456731/?__cft__%5B0%5D=AZZtEv2qFecbH3JPalvlh3fC0dDY0YpmyUhP3MhnlUG-mtCc6qsMv5zncrXB91LBsTDtkof3-L5T1o0M4LPYZLHVb_Lm1zZ8RCcJiRvi3vcwHihzOdu_oMgyRqNyUlSZTM5w1l3IucsU3YFUzUy5bg29&__tn__=q) Take action to help the dogs here: [https://www.dane4dogs.org/action](https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dane4dogs.org%2Faction%3Ffbclid%3DIwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAYnJpZBExSVFoWFVUa3ZDZ2duUVUxN3NydGMGYXBwX2lkEDIyMjAzOTE3ODgyMDA4OTIAAR7QMHLB-jRipkwtbKN4TrPJT6B5ORRtnDyIYvvIh2nBgnkuNuGITM6aKayVYg_aem_Ot3rQKXwMUdDbFQn7eYBNg&h=AT6idgmG1aeBdhsfUhbOamfVfpTLXjCzMQYRdcBH3fzLzSNz30DvMR57nPBy1WjYin_BNJuBr1znsEMeSG6cSB09uRXbgh3AaWcWkKMwyNpu6yiIUiOj-mlMtgNMzE2Lht4rX05FCKhUGhRq0JT3VncrL2Ko14j6&__tn__=q&c%5B0%5D=AT5PkKt2u6lFY7jCXz6_5WYKpnBhH-55TeS9VMPiHPoLNsiO6E4x_NdkUGdVAxkJfDKxZxIwSN-sxLuAoKnQiDsa0N9FvwGgh5TFzo23NLWdwgMnbpEzXmVW_fgNQ3ui3T0yQ17gQQdsVzc2-e5LfJXfn36Z8nga7s0) Fresh coffee, tea, and a delicious plant-based brunch will be provided at the Meetup as well! **Where:** Berkeley Animal Rights Center West (2414 6th St, Berkeley) **When:** Saturday, April 25th 11am-12:30pm **What:** Community hangout and presentation \- ARC West is a 30 minute walk from North Berkeley BART and only a 10 minute walk from the 51B bus stop at University and 6th St\. \- Dogs that like other dogs are welcome at this event\! \- There will be plant\-based brunch and coffee\, donations accepted \- If you cannot join in person\, you can join at 11:15am on Zoom at this link: [dxe.io/meetupzoom](https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fdxe.io%2Fmeetupzoom%3Ffbclid%3DIwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAYnJpZBExSVFoWFVUa3ZDZ2duUVUxN3NydGMGYXBwX2lkEDIyMjAzOTE3ODgyMDA4OTIAAR7b8oAd-VL-GdvwJfbV59bbJr-bUoWpRW45EN8_41_au0b9-7nF7eI1XsyfWQ_aem_hCZi8cS9NBNUM94f8Y8LFA&h=AT72mHvC5FinUpA7lfPglDVMvNu0vWBiyeHNb_QitU6hiNEVojC97DrBDOHZX_1ZTj782bNnOY71fSGupAI54VnfqJpPnKqumi58f9pME3Q4rry-i-ztpRSeqLQcLsdHcEWy0khQceehIXke1WDwINaYIm8lRr72&__tn__=q&c%5B0%5D=AT5PkKt2u6lFY7jCXz6_5WYKpnBhH-55TeS9VMPiHPoLNsiO6E4x_NdkUGdVAxkJfDKxZxIwSN-sxLuAoKnQiDsa0N9FvwGgh5TFzo23NLWdwgMnbpEzXmVW_fgNQ3ui3T0yQ17gQQdsVzc2-e5LfJXfn36Z8nga7s0) Every Saturday at 11am we have Meetups for everyone and anyone who cares about animals and making the world a better place!
