Putney Casuals: Richmond Park Ride

Our first Putney Casuals ride! We’ll meet outside The Telegraph at 10am, set off at 10:15am and make our way to Richmond Park for a lap, before stopping at Roehampton Gate Café for a coffee, a beer or whatever takes your fancy. Expect a relaxed, sociable pace. All bikes and abilities welcome, and we’ll regroup along the way so nobody gets left behind. The plan: * 10:00: Meet outside The Telegraph * 10:15: Set off towards Richmond Park * The ride: One lap of Richmond Park * Afterwards: Drinks and a chat at Roehampton Gate Café No need to know anyone beforehand. Just turn up with your bike and say hello! Helmets recommended. Bring water and dress for the weather.

🚀Free GuyFawkes Fireworks Display With Prosecco & Fun Chats 🎆

If you love Fireworks like me then RSVP to celebrate the preservation of Britain's finest parliamentary **democratic sovereignty** on one of the most fun celebrated days in our political history with a free mesmerizing fireworks display to uplifting **melodic symphonies** and a red hot bonfire to keep chills at bay. As you'd expect on a traditional cold British Bonfire night (though I swear it use to feel colder when I was a kid!), we'll sip liver damaging **beverages** as our eyes track with trepidation those sinister **gunpowder** trails igniting into beautiful gyrating flames of merriment in da sky and wonder what could of been. There will also be food and drinks to purchase. Or, if you hate the **Westminister** status quo and particularly the recent installation of the George Orwellian free speech pluralism infringing incompetent duplicitous dishonest gas lighting Labour government - you can always join to commiserate the unfolding plot! The part II **PRIVATE firework display** we went to last year in Islington is now taking place on the 4th so we will go to straight to the pub around 7pm for more socialising. If you would like to come as my guests (maximum 6 people) to the private display on Tuesday night (likely around 8pm) please message me directly on here or 07941319848. **======ITINERARY / RENDEZVOUS POINT / DRINKS ========** We will meet outside a Central London underground station (will annouce day before) at 5pm sharp. After a 10 min wait for laggards, I will escort everyone to the nearby location to watch the fireworks display up close. After the firework display ends - due to the very big crowds people always end up getting lost and split - we will meet directly in the pub and then play it by ear. Last year we gate crashed an art gallery party with free booze and then took a bus ride singing songs so nothing is set in stone. We love doing spontaneous and genuine fun stuff here - if you think you'd fit in for a night of adventure then RSVP now but **make sure you answer the screening question -** blanks, one word answers or indifference will keep you there - actually show you're interested in the event content!! The exact meeting point in Kings Crioss for will be revealed to the confirmed RSVPs on the on the night in private comments section along with post drinks pub name and address. Note, I wont be taking any calls or replying to phone messages during the 20 minute display - that time is for my own enjoyment. As we wont have time to buy drinks before hand, so I recommend you buy before you arrive - so that you have some alcohol to enjoy during the show as fireworks are always more enjoyable and fun when you are tipsy but not drunk; **REMEMBER KIDs: FIREWORKS ARE DANGEROUS - NO DRINKING, DRUGS N LIGHTING HERE!** I'll have a bottle of wine or presecco with me and may share if I have spare to go around. For identification, I will be wearing a Starwars lanyard. Also I will send out my number to the confirmed RSVPs on the evening. London Linux Drinks: "Ghosts outta da machine" Edition

It got dark, and a lot cooler all of a sudden, so come hide in the pub with like-minded people with a common interest in Linux at the October Linux London Meetup. Whether you are a complete neophyte or Linux warrior with decades of experience, come join the chat about distros, networks, open-source software, personal projects, ... or completely unrelated topics. The London Linux Drinks meetups are informal, free to attend, and welcomes new attendees. By all means encourage others to come with you. The venue is the Hand & Racquet in Wimbledon (25-27 Wimbledon Hill Rd, SW19 7NE). Whilst we realise that this venue is not as convenient for some people as our central London former haunts, the pub is only 2 minutes walk from the station, and Wimbledon is exceptionally well connected (only 17 minutes out of London Waterloo mainline, lies on the Sutton branch of the Thameslink, and is a terminus of both the District Line and the Croydon Tramlink). The pub is on the flat, at street level, including the toilets, although the space reserved for us (presently, at least) is a raised mezzanine area up a small number of steps at the back of the pub. We aim to be inclusive, so if this presents an issue, we'll work with the pub to adjust the arrangements in the future. Sign-ups are open. Please come join us. Directions from the station: Exit the station through the main concourse (near the District Line platforms), turn right along the main road, passing the taxi rank on Orinoco Lane. Cross Alexandra Road at the traffic lights, pass the gym on the corner, then continue past the chemist to reach the pub.

TEiP HALLOWEEN PARTY • PORTOBELLO | Thought Experiments in Public

A different kind of "party".... In the UK, Halloween is often associated with tacky excess, frightening bloodstained costumes, and drunken revelry. I grew up with a different kind of Halloween because I went to an American school. The general vibe was **creativity, comedy, and an excuse for a whole community celebration.** We had a costume parade that everyone, even the teachers, participated in. The costumes were mostly home made, tending towards silliness rather than horror. For example, one year a group of students made enormous Pac-Man costumes out of cardboard and used the school corridors to enact a life-sized game of Pac-Man. It was a fun way to bring everyone together and brighten up rapidly darkening October. So I'd like to bring a similar creative, friendly spirit to this special episode of TEiP. As ever, **the aim** of the evening will be to have open-minded, thought-provoking conversations with fellow humans, so we'll use the tried and tested TEiP format for the majority of the night (see below for details). **The theme will be "DARKNESS", which we will explore by way of three original thought experiments** (tiny stories that spark big questions) posted in the comments on the day of the event. There may be a few twists, and there will definitely be some **(optional) games and Halloween-y activities afterwards**. **Dressing up is encouraged, though entirely optional.** We will have a **friendly costume competition** with points awarded for: * originality * homemade components * comedy So think less generic blood-drenched plastic and more repurposed packaging.
