About us
Une description en français est fournie ci-dessous.
Welcome to Mindfulness Outdoors, where we practice mindfulness in nature!
Check out the website to see what is coming up.
We’re a team of therapists, writers, speakers, and mindfulness guides who believe that time in nature can support real, lasting change. Since 2021, we’ve been designing outdoor wellness experiences grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindful Self-Compassion, and other evidence-based mindfulness and nature-based approaches.
Our work brings together strong clinical training, a science-informed lens, and a lifelong relationship with the natural world.
At the heart of everything we do is helping people reconnect with what truly matters to them and supporting them in building more balanced, values-driven lives.
At Mindfulness Outdoors, there are 3 main types of events:
Mindful Walks on Mount Royal - Free
The Mindful Walking Series is a 6-week experience where we explore different aspects of wellbeing through gentle, meditative, and reflective walks on Mount Royal. During each session, we share simple mindfulness and therapeutic tools to help navigate difficult thoughts, clarify what matters to us, practice self-acceptance, and take small steps toward a more values-aligned life.
We meet on Mount Royal (see the event page for the exact location). Each gathering starts with a brief introduction to the theme of the day, followed by a short walk together where we demonstrate how to practice the technique. You’ll then have some time to walk on your own and try it out at your own pace. We finish by coming back together as a group to share reflections—if you feel like it.
Mindful Outdoor Sport Events- Fees for teaching, guiding and equipment rentals.
These are specific outdoor sports that we do mindfully. The idea is to focus on the moment rather than on performance. It is a great opportunity to try something new, or to do something you've done many times a different way. Check out some of the past events to get an idea of what these activities are like.
Retreats - Paid, food and accommodations included (when applicable)
We seek out special wonderlands for us to enjoy nature.
These retreats are focused on well-being, self-compassion and living a valued life.
Food and accommodations are included.
There are Day Retreats, which consist of a day-long getaway at a nearby SEPAQ park and Weekend Retreats, which consist of a weekend away somewhere beautiful and peaceful. The retreats are posted on the website and on MeetUp.
IMPORTANT TO KNOW
It is important to understand that you attend these events at your own risk.
Most of the activities are relatively low impact, but some are not. It is important to consider your physical condition before engaging in these activities. Have questions? Email us at contact@mindfulnessoutdoors.org
We look forward to meeting you at one of the events!
Mindfully Yours,

Spring Walking Series - Week 2 - Walking while Observing
Mordecai Richler Gazebo, 4060 Av du Parc, Montréal, QC, CAAbout this event:
Walking while Noticing
At this event, we will discuss self-as-context. This is a technique where we learn how to observe ourselves. We observe our thoughts, our feelings, our body sensations, and our senses. This technique allows us a deeper understanding of our reactions and struggles and offers us a means to heal. We will learn about the concept, then practice it through a mindful hike on Mount Royal. Come join us for a mindful moment on the Mountain!A $10 donation is appreciated but not required for the event.
You can donate by bringing cash or sending an electronic money transfer to info@moirestevenson.com.An article related to the event can be found here: https://mindfulnessoutdoors.org/blog/
The Mindful Walking Series:
The mindful walking series is a 5-week series of events where we dive into various aspects of well-being during meditative or reflective walks on Mount Royal. Join for 1 event or all 5, it's up to you! At each event, I will share mindfulness-based therapeutic techniques for coping with complex thoughts, understanding our values, accepting ourselves, and taking action toward what matters to us.Each event begins with a short explanation of the theme for that day. We then take a short walk together where I highlight how to practice the therapeutic technique we just discussed. Then, you will have time to practice the technique while walking on your own for a few minutes. At the end of the event, we come back together as a group and discuss (or not, it’s up to you) our experiences. There will be chocolate :)

Come explore your mind and thoughts during a walk on the Mountain! The event will take place rain or shine!

Spring Walking Series - Week 4 - How to Prioritize What Matters Most
Mordecai Richler Gazebo, 4060 Av du Parc, Montréal, QC, CAAbout the event:
How to Prioritize What Matters MostAs we go through our day-to-day lives, we often lose sight of what is important and focus our energies on things that do not truly matter to us. Throughout our discussion and walk, we will look at how you can better understand what is important to you and how knowing what matters can improve your well-being. I will then provide tips on prioritizing what is most important. As always, we will start with a discussion of the concept, then practice the techniques during our walk. So come join us for a VALUE-able moment on the Mountain!
A $10 donation is suggested but not required for the event.
