What we’re about
👋 HELLO AND WELCOME TO THE HIDEOUT!
London’s most active thriller, sci-fi, and horror film club built by fans, for fans. We’re a community of die-hard film buffs, filmmakers, comic nerds, and sci-fi dreamers who love everything from Hitchcock to Kubrick, from Carpenter to Cameron. We meet up regularly for movies, share laughs over drinks, and then rave about it on our Letterboxd Page.
We’re also proud supporters of independent cinema, The Film Festival Guild, Prince Charles Cinema, the BFI, Medicinema and more, which often means special access and discounts for our members. We also host regular socials at the BFI Riverfront, which are always a lot of fun. We try to stay on top of film news and let you vote on what we watch via our WhatsApp or Telegram group (available after your first Meetup). We also have channels for updates only, so you can stay in the loop without the chatter.

🏚️ THE DANGERS OF A MATERIALISTIC MINDSET
Ed Warren believed that there are Diabolical forces that are formidable, eternal, and they exist today. And that the devil and God exist. And for us, as people, our very destiny hinges upon which one we elect to follow.Hello Everyone 👋 Mmmm, there is something about those words that ring true to me. That doesn't mean I believe in all of these stories or everything that's been said. But I do have my own perspective. For now, I'll just say that this is allegedly the final film in The Conjuring Series. It also the ninth instalment in the mainline series flooded with a mix of films that have been between quite good and a lot to be desired. This film will be directed by Michael Chaves who also directed The Curse of La Llorona, The Devil Made Me Do It and The Nun II. Make of that what you will, but nevertheless I am approaching this Final showdown with optimism.
Anyway whether you believe in this or not, science by its very nature, is not capable of proving the non-existence of anything LOL. Anyway, check out tonight schedule:

- 11:30 PM: We reconvene to Review & Score the Film and then for a social at the All Bar One. The results will be posted on Letterboxd.

🥾 THERE’S A SURFEIT EVEN OF DEATH
Memories were like a line drawn in the dirt. The further back you went the scruffier and harder to see that line got. Until finally there was nothing but smooth sand and the black hole of nothingness that you came out of.What’s going on guys 👋 As citizens that live in cacotopia let’s just jump straight into this very interesting film. It’s a dystopian thriller directed by Francis Lawrence based on Stephen King’s 1979 novel and this is probably the right time to release such a film as we are heading towards serious questionable times. Anyway, this movie is set in a near-future totalitarian America where the government forces teenage boys to participate in a brutal annual walking contest, where they must maintain a steady walking pace or face execution. The last one standing wins whatever they desire for the rest of their life. I can see this propaganda already happening in many fazes of our lives.
Suffice to say let’s wake up guys and take the red pill, then the white and stay clear of those lines. I’ll get back to you soon with more information about the meeting. Speak soon.

The concept of sacrificing everything for a particular moment and glory will always involve some kind of transaction. And that exchange will be most likely your soul, even if you don't know that you giving it away.Hello guys 👋 And this is the likelihood that most of us fall into when we don't see the wider scope of our existence. This is the new movie produced by Jordan peel which you would know Get Out and who has handed off the directors chair to Justin Tipping in his first major motion Sports-Horror-Film. Now I'll be honest, I've never even heard of a Sports-Horror-Film, except for the French film Goal of the Dead. But I'm guessing that this is one is going to be a more serious film which will involve more than just a score. Anyway, the less said better, but this looks so awesome.
I'm pretty sure that this is one match we won't want to miss including those from Man United if they wish to stand a chance against Liverpool. I'll get back to you with further meet up closer to the date. Bye for now 👋

Silence isn't safety, it is just the sounds of something waiting. What begins as random fear can feel sometimes deliberate like a ritual in motion. And in the dead spaces left behind, only starring eyes remain watching. Fear lingers when you think it's over, and then it returns.What's going on guys👋 Well, some of you probably know that The Strangers: Chapter 1 wasn’t exactly a masterpiece. In fact I wasn’t a big fan particularly when it had the potential, but then lacked the originality, and simply rehashed the events of the 2008 classic. So then why are we watching this? Well, because things might actually get interesting from this point. And let’s be honest horror fans can be forgiving especially when the rest of the franchise is quite alright. But here’s the thing, director Renny Harlin (Die Hard 2 and A Nightmare on Elm Street 4) also hinted that here is where the story actually starts. Chapter 2 will pick up immediately after the gruesome home invasion and will drag us deeper into the blood-soaked quiet small-town, taking us further into mystery of the masked killers. Long story short, the terror goes beyond the house only to be hunted once again by the killers who won’t stop until they finish. So if you’re a fan of redemption arcs, don’t write this one off yet.
So let’s tune in with fresh eyes and a steady heartbeat. Maybe keep your doors locked in the meantime remembering always that the fear we face is as much inside us as outside. So stay sharp, stay curious, and we’ll unravel the next dark secret together in a meet up where the silence speaks loudest. I'll get back to you closer to the date with a times and location.
