What weβre about
π HELLO AND WELCOME TO THE HIDEOUT, THE MOST ACTIVE THRILLER, SCI-FI AND HORROR FILM CLUB IN LONDON MADE BY FANS FOR FANS.
In a nutshell, we are just a bunch of Die Hard Film Buffs, Filmmakers, Creators, Comic Book Nerds, Geeks, and Trekkies who are aficionados of Alfred Hitchcock, Stanley Kubrick, Tim Burton, David Lynch, John Carpenter, James Cameron, Gene Roddenberry, H.P Lovecraft, you name it, who like to go out for drinks and watch movies. We also rate and review the films after we watch them and the results are posted on our Letterboxd Page.
We are avid supporters of Independent Cinema, The Film Festival Guild, Medicinema, Prince Charles Cinema and the British Film Institute. Thanks to this we sometimes gain special access and discounts to special events that we can then share with you. Plus we meet up regularly for a social to catch up again at the BFI which is a lot of fun.
We try to stay well informed when it comes to Film News, New Releases and Re-Releases and members are able to vote for the films they want to watch through our WhatsApp Group or Telegram Group which are available on request. We also have an alternative non invasive WhatsApp Channel and Telegram Channel for updates only.
Whatever the time of year we do our best to always be around, come and join us for a good time.

πTHIS IS FOR MAD PEOPLE ONLY!
You can't stop a wave born in a storm, way out to sea. It is pure energy that is building to this breaking point. How ya going guys π I am also greeting you with the surfer shaka, which is a hand gesture with the pinky and thumb extended. So this movie is psychological thriller directed by Lorcan Finnegan who has excelled in the independent market with movies like Without a Name, Vivarium and Mocebo. The film centers around a man, played by Nicolas Cage (a personal favourite) who returns to his beachside hometown only to be humiliated by a group of local surfers who assert their dominance. The film explores themes of ownership, conflict, and a man pushed to his breaking point.
Have you ever been close to a breaking point? I know I have. Here is our beach schedule for this evening night swim:
- 5:00 PM: We meet for drinks at Victory House French Bistrot & Wine Bar next to the Cinema. You will find me with a meetup sign.
- 6:20 PM: We move to Screen 1 at Prince Charles Cinema where we have selected seat A9
- 8:10 PM We briefly reconvene at the bar to score the film. The results will be posted on Letterboxd.
- Don't forget that our WhatsApp Group and Telegram Group are available at request. Or alternatively you can join non invasive WhatsApp Channel or Telegram Channel for updates only.

π IT IS THE CALM BEFORE THE STORM
Should pale death, with treble dread, make the ocean caves our bed, God who hears the surges roll deign to save our suppliant soul. Boredom Makes Men To Villains. What's going on guys π I've been wanting to watch this film for awhile because I missed it so many times. I feel kind of embarrassed that I waited this long, especially since I loved Nosferatu by Robert Eggers. Anyway, a few years back, he also did this film which is a black and white psychological horror that tells the story of two lighthouse keepers, who are stranded on a remote island in the 1890s. Their isolation, is further fuelled by the harsh conditions and their growing mental instability, leads to a descent into madness and a tumultuous relationship. Enough said I'm digging this premise.
I am so blessed that I like my own company, and I don't get seasick, but I wouldn't mind the pleasure of your company before I descend to madness too lol Here is the schedule breakdown for tonight:
- 7:15 PM: We meet for drinks at Victory House French Bistrot & Wine Bar next to the Cinema. You will find me with a meetup sign.
- 8:30 PM: We move to Screen 1 at Prince Charles Cinema where we have selected seat C12 and C13.
- 8:50 PM: Alternative Screen 2 performance
- 10:30 PM We briefly reconvene at the bar to score the film. The results will be posted on Letterboxd.
- To join our WhatsApp Group and Telegram Group, these are available at request. Alternatively you can join non invasive WhatsApp Channel or Telegram Channel for updates only.

π§ MIGHT AS WELL GO BACK TO THE FIRST INFECTION
The answer may be here to where there's No government, No army and No police. Although I blame the government for just about everything. What's up guys? π I guess it's been more than awhile since this film came out, so maybe it's not a bad idea to revisit these 28 days before the 28 years hits theatres next month. This is of course how Danny Boyle started it all, in a movie that was a surprise hit. It became a critical and commercial success due to its unique take on the zombies and its depiction of a post-apocalyptic world. Although many fans debate that these are not zombies, screenwriter Alex Garland, has clarified that the infected ones are indeed Zombies. So take that to the bank if you will.
Now, do you need to watch 28 Weeks Later too? Well, not essentially, unless you want a more complete and nuanced understanding of the franchise's progression and the world it depicts. Here are the details for the evening:
- 7:30 PM: We meet for drinks at Victory House French Bistrot & Wine Bar next to the Cinema. You will find me with a meetup sign.
- 8:45 PM: We move to Screen 2 at Prince Charles Cinema. We have selected seat D13-D14 but you can choose any seat you prefer.
- 10:50 PM We briefly reconvene at the bar to score the film. The results will be posted on Letterboxd.

π THEY TOLD US BUT WE NEVER LISTENED
We've been warned by some of the greatest science-fiction films of all time including 2001: A Space Odyssey, 1984, Robocop, The Matrix, They Live, The Terminator and checkout Dave Cullen's scary review on Metropolis. They all tried to warn us but why didnβt we listen?Hey guys π I guess itβs because weβve been like good little frogs happily swimming in the slow boiling water. Needless to say that these two sci-fi dystopian films also attempted to say something that I now fear is very much a reality. A reality of wealth, inequality, industrialisation, and the struggle that we will have to endure in an enforced, dehumanising, ultramodern society and the dangers of unchecked technology. A civilisation divided between classes where the oppressed are ruled by authoritarian apatheists whose sole purpose is to infiltrate and create disparity between the authentic and the natural.
Now, Iβm no expert on dystopian nightmares nor am I a futurist foresighter. But I do believe in my God given gut which the powers that be try to discredit. So anyway, these movies by Ridley Scott and Denis Villeneuve are based on the science fiction novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Phillip K. Dick, who I think clearly knew something that most of us refuse to believe. Both these movies and the book explore philosophical themes deeply interpretive in nature and reflect on the high-tech vision in which consumerism, corporatism, and a lack of human empathy have become the foundation of our society.
So ,here are some questions for you guys. Is humanity creating the mechanised fulfilment of his worst nightmares? Will that thing that he has created have a soul and conscience or will it serve its own interests? And is there anything we can do about it now? Something to think about. Here's the plan for tonight:
- 5:15 PM: We meet for drinks at the Prince Charles Cinema Bar. You will find me with a meetup sign.
- 5:45 PM: We move to Screen 1 where we have selected seat A8 & A9, but feel free to choose your preferred location**.** There will be a 10 minute break between for Performances.
- 11:00 PM We briefly reconvene at the bar to score the film. The results will be posted on Letterboxd.
- Don't forget that our WhatsApp Group and Telegram Group are available at request. Or alternatively you can join non invasive WhatsApp Channel or Telegram Channel for updates only.
