THE SECRET AGENT! + Drinks at The Queens in Crouch End!
**THE SECRET AGENT!**
**Director:** Kleber Mendonça Filho
**Cast:** Wagner Moura, Gabriel Leone, Maria Fernanda Cândido
The acclaimed Brazilian thriller The Secret Agent is finally here!
In a Brazil tormented by the military dictatorship, Marcelo, a man in his forties fleeing a troubled past, arrives in the city of Recife where he hopes to build a new life and reconnect with his family.
That's without taking into account the death threats that lurk and hover over his head.
Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UfrzDKrhEc
Cinema: Crouch End Picturehouse.
Schedule: The film starts at 7:50 pm.
We meet at 7:00 pm at the Queens pub for drinks.
I'll book a table under the name David!
After the film we'll head back to the pub to discuss the film.

Kodak XX Cinematic Film London Street Photography Photo walk
A relaxed, four‑hour or so photo walk that starts at Bank Station, threads through the heart of the City, and lands you in Soho by 7:00 pm – perfect for capturing the post‑work buzz without feeling rushed.
## Overview
* **Start:** 4:00 pm – Bank Station (Royal Exchange side) and areas nearby
* **Midway:** 6:00 pm – Walk through St Pauls, City Thameslink, Fleet Street and then wander through Covent Garden
* **Finish:** 8:30 pm – Central Soho (Carnaby Street / Berwick Street area)
The route balances iconic landmarks, spontaneous street moments, and the gradual shift from daylight to evening neon, giving you a rich visual story in a single evening.
This walk will be about 3 to 4 miles, so please bear this in mind. You may choose to do the first half or the second half instead of the full walk :)
We will sign off the evening over drinks / food (for those able to stay back)
## Key Shooting Opportunities
* **Office exodus:** Capture groups spilling onto the pavement, coffee in hand, with the City’s glass towers framing the scene.
* **Market ambience:** Stalls and lanterns in Covent Garden add texture and warmth.
* **Neon nightlife:** Soho’s iconic signage provides bold contrasts for low‑light portraits.
## Gear & Practical Tips
* **I will provide one roll of KODAK XX 35mm film for you to use. Each roll has 36 exposures. You may choose to use it at your ISO of choice. I personally tend to stick with 800 ISO, using a slower aperture (5.6 to 11 ) in day light and faster aperture (1.5 to 2.0) in low light. However, this film can be shot at 250, 400, 800 and 1600 ISO easily**
* Please make sure you can manually select the ISO on your camera, else this film roll will default to 100 ISO and unless you have an automatic flash, you will struggle with your camera
* You can join us at any point of time in the walk . I will share our Live location on WhatsApp (will create a WhatsApp group 2 days before the walk, including the meeting point)
Please note: The aim of the walk is to shoot at least one roll of Kodak XX, which will be provided to you. If you do not intend to use XX or not use a film camera kindly do not join this particular walk
The cost of the walk includes the film roll and payment required upfront via PayPal to ensure commitment to the walk
If you require a film camera for the walk please let me know in advance and I could get one for you to use for the evening
☢️🎬 COLD STORAGE
🧊 ***When the night shift goes wrong, the only thing scarier than the dark… is what’s been locked away beneath it and still breeding in the cold.***
***Hi guys*** let’a hang out this Friday night with a wild ride that blends sci-fi chills, horror thrills, and a good dose of comedy. I am hosting a screening of ***[Cold Storage](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgwpL2trC3w&vl=en&themeRefresh=1)***, and it looks like going to be a fun, spooky evening.
The movie is directed by **John Campbell** and follows Travis and Naomi, two employees at a self-storage facility built in a former military base. Their night shift turns into a humongous nightmare when a government-sealed paralytic fungus escapes from the underground levels—so you can imagine the chaos and suspense! Ooh, indeed.
We’ll meet for drinks before the movie at **Victory House Wine Bar**, then head to **Cineworld (Screen 5)**. We've chosen seat **A13-A14** in case you want to sit near us, but no pressure. After the film, we’ll gather for a **[Letterboxd](https://letterboxd.com/movieroadhouse/)** review!
**This feels like it's going to be a blast.**
**catch you at the meetup**

AID FOR ROJAVA: Fundraising Night w/ Movie, Music & Dancing @ The Bath House
**This is a ticketed fundraising event! Get your ticket and make whatever donation you can here:** https://www.outsavvy.com/event/33294/aid-for-rojava-fundraising-night-wmovie-music-dancing
All across the world, imperialism, neo-fascism and the capitalists that these forces ultimately serve have had a booming few years. From the genocide in Gaza, to Sudan, to Venezuela, Cuba, Iran, Greenland and many more, the powers of the world are making moves and burning bodies. It's enough to make your head spin and it's easy to burn out hearing about it all. It's especially discouraging to see what's happening to one of the more celebrated "bright spots" in global geopolitics of the past decade, namely the Rojava Revolution and, apparently, its imminent end under armed aggression by the Turkish military and the US/Israel-backed Al-Qaeda-turned-technocratic liberals of the HTS militia which currently rules Syria. At the start of January, a full-scale invasion of the Rojava region began. As of the 20th, a [shaky ceasefire](https://www.newsday.com/news/nation/syria-kobani-kurds-sdf-aid-convoy-q74640) is in effect. This fragile situation may be our one opportunity to raise vital funds for humanitarian support to the people of northeastern Syria, who desperately need resources for medical care, food, and transportation to safety.
That's why LCC will be hosting a mega-night of fun and fundraising in partnership with The Bath House, Hackney Wick this February, raising money for the people of Rojava. There will be a film screening on the struggle between ISIS and the Rojava revolution at the [Battle of Tishrin Dam](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tishrin_Dam_offensive), a Q&A with its director, as well as music and dancing with food and drink available at the bar.
The ongoing offensive has resulted in significant casualties, including approximately 1,000 people killed, with at least 152 civilians reported dead and 322 injured as of January 18, 2026. The situation remains dire, particularly in the besieged town of Kobani, where ongoing attacks have led to civilian deaths, hunger, and a humanitarian crisis.
What is, or was, the Rojava Revolution? Some resources can be found [here](https://riseup4rojava.org/en/rojava-people-in-arms/), but in a nutshell Rojava is an autonomous Kurdish territory in north-eastern Syria where a broad coalition of forces have, since the start of the Syrian Civil War till now, been attempting to practice directly-democratic, libertarian-communist, feminist, ecological emancipatory politics as part of a generations-long struggle for Kurdish national liberation. The leading force in Rojava, the Democratic Union Party and its armed wing the YPG, have in the past made common cause with the US to [defeat shared enemies like the so-called Islamic State](https://www.nytimes.com/2015/11/29/magazine/a-dream-of-utopia-in-hell.html). Recent events have shown, once again, that the west is always a false friend, with the [US and Israel reportedly having given the go-ahead](https://hannohauenstein.substack.com/p/rojava-is-the-red-line-its-being) to HTS and Turkey to launch their ongoing invasion of Rojava.
The collapse of democratic, autonomous administration in Rojava is not the end of their revolution, which was always, from the beginning, internationalist. It demonstrates that, no matter how genuinely inspiring it is to see a small nation, with few resources, take on the world and build something we can barely dream of in the west, it is ultimately up to those of us living within the great imperialist core to take up that inspiration and put its principles into practice here and now, so that the next time the Kurdish people rise up in freedom, they will have friends to back them that are both powerful and true. In the meantime, we owe it to these comrades to give them every aid they need to survive the present danger, prepare for future ones, and make themselves able to fight on.
Donations benefiting the Kurdish Red Crescent can be made to our fundraising page here or on the night via cash or card. The most generous donors will get a shout-out from the stage! Capacity is huge, so come one, come all, share this event and bring your friends!

1 DAY Film-jam No.114
This event will be for people to meet, go off and film, come back and enjoy the results. Whatever you want to do, be it film, act, direct or even just sort of hang around at the back then this is the event for you!
MEET AT THE ENTRANCE TO THE NATIONAL THEATRE.
If you are wondering what this group can provide for you, it’s above all else friendship with other like minded people, whether you are a screenwriter, director, cameraperson, actor etc etc.
With that in mind, on Saturday we will do the following:
1. We’ll meet at the National Theatre on Southbank.
2. We’ll split into two groups (or more if needed)
3. Each team will try and beat the other teams to a pub in EC1 in London and edit (maybe) the film.
BUT
4. Each team must make a 2 minute 30 seconds film on the way with a beginning middle and end, a solid story arc for the main character, etc.
Remember to bring:
1. You and your enthusiasm
2. A camera (iPhones dslrs whatever)
3. Someone willing to do an edit after we arrive back at the on their computers
All teams will then meet-up at a pub in EC1 and watch what we have filmed, happy with what they have learnt!
The first team that finishes gets a Small Prize!
Hopefully then, you will stick around to have a great time chatting about film, meeting new people, and forgetting about work until the late hours.
Look forward to seeing you there!

The Secret Agent
We will meet to watch the 4 pm screening of the Secret Agent.
Brazil, 1977. Marcelo, a technology expert in his early 40s, is on the run. He arrives in Recife during carnival week, hoping to reunite with his son but soon realises that the city is far from being the non-violent refuge he seeks.
Actor Wagner Moura won Best Actor at Cannes last year and at the 2026 Golden Globes. The Secret Agent received 4 nominations at the 98th Academy Awards and 2 at the 2026 BAFTAs.
I am aiming to get a seat in row b but please feel free to get a seat where you prefer. We will get together after at the Cine Lumiere cafe for a chat about the film.
🤖🎬 GOOD LUCK, HAVE FUN, DON'T DIE (ALTERNATIVE)
***This Meetup was previously set for Psycho Killer.***
**👋 Hello everyone!** Just a quick update: This Meetup was originally planned for **Psycho Killer**, but unfortunately it was pulled out of the UK release radar, so we are going ahead with **Gore Verbinski’s** new film ***Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die***\*. We hope this movie fits your vibe.\*
The film is a sci-fi action comedy by **Matthew Robinson** **([The Invention of Lying](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RhRnmyBjOLs)).** It follows a time traveler who crashes into a classic LA diner, assembling an unlikely team to stop an AI tyrant. So, a bit of a departure from our original plan, nevertheless we hope it’s fun change of direction.
We’ll start things off with a meet and drinks at the **Victory House Bar Leicester Square** before proceeding to **Cineworld (Screen 7).** We will be sitting in row **A6-A7** if you would like to sit with us. After the film we will have a brief **[Letterboxd Page](https://letterboxd.com/movieroadhouse/).**

Virtual Event : The Breach
Currently on the app ' Arte' is this wonderful dramatic thriller also known as La Rapture from esteemed director Chabrol.
When Charles, sometimes junkie, injures his young son Michel in a fit of rage his wife Helene becomes frightened and leaves him.
A most brilliant thriller although a little bonkers this film marks a departure from Chabrol's usual style although retains an attack on the bourgeois family.
Made in 1970 and lasts 125 mins.
In French with English subtitles.

Il Sorpasso (The Easy Life)
A classic Italian road comedy that was so good the film ministry recognized it as "culturally significant." Starring Vittorio Gassman and Jean-Louis Trintignant, the film shows that for young men in love the rules of the road are only suggestions. And the rules for love? Hey, this is an Italian picture! Oh to be young and filled with joie de vivre or la dolce vita.
A french/italian fun filled movie with a surprising twist at the end.
Do you have a fun memory from your youth?
Location TBD, but it will be in person for sure!
Fun Friday: EPiC: ELVIS PRESLEY IN CONCERT at Lennox Phoenix Theater!
Join us for something different as we get together to see EPIC: ELVIS PRESLEY IN CONCERT! While researching his 2022 film, director Bas Luhrmann came across and compiled rare and previously unseen interviews and videos of Elvis in concert to create “one of the most exciting concert films you’ve ever seen!” Here are details, a trailer and our plan for this event:
DESCRIPTION: Part documentary, part concert film, the latest from director Bas Luhrmann is a follow-up to his 2022 film starring Austin Butler. While researching the film, he came across 68 boxes of previously unseen interviews, concert performances and outtakes from previous films. A combination of offstage and onstage Elvis, comes a film that “befits the magnitude of Elvis as a performer but also offers deeper revelations of his humanity and inner life." It is written/directed by Baz Luhrmann (ELVIS, MOULIN ROUGE, THE GREAT GATSBY) and stars the legendary Elvis Presley!
TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NmqWusmzp0k
