The Alt/Cult Winter Social
The Alt/Cult Winter Social
Isn't winter ghastly? It's freezing, dark and depressing and once the December holidays are out the way, there's nothing to look forward to. Well, almost nothing, because it's time for another Alt/Cult group social! Meet and/or greet new friends and old strangers as we talk about what Oscar movies we've seen, what festivals we have tickets for, how everyone else's holidays are better than ours and all the rest of the regular winter conversation. After 2025's Zone 2 circuit, we're going for the Betsey Trottwood in Clerkenwell, because it's a great looking pub with a cool atmosphere and because I walked past there a couple of times recently and quite fancied an excuse to go back. See you there!

Thursday Tabletop Games at Premiere Cinemas
Thursday Tabletop Games at Premiere Cinemas
It's **Thursday** & our main night of the week & the fun & games are just getting started here at DWL! We're located here in the Cinema (which can be found on the 3rd floor of the Mercury Mall Shopping Centre) on: * **Tuesdays & Thursdays**: From 17:30 to 22:00. * **Saturdays**: From 12:00 to 22:00 🦁 And we're still running every Monday 6pm to 11pm at the Golden Lion Pub too. 🌭☕ There are hot & cold food & drink options available from the cinema at low prices! Supporting Premiere Cinema by buying their food & drink IS supporting Dicing With Life! The cinema has been very generous to us by bringing us into their space & our way of showing our gratitude is by sending some business their way. And their menu is surprisingly cheap! Especially compared to any other cinema. Here's some cool examples of some great **offers**: Buy a large **Popcorn** (it's a huge bucket!) or a large **fizzy drink** & it'll initially cost you £4, BUT, take your bucket or cup back to the bar for a **refill** & the cinema will refill it back up to the top for just £2! 🍿🥤 That's half price Popcorn & Pop! This also applies to **Ice Blasts** too (£5 initially but to refill it's just £3). There's also Hot Dogs, Nachos, Pick n Mix & many other treats in store too! Check out their menu 😋 If you have any questions, please ask & let the fun commence! 🎲

Whatever you want to do, be it film, act, direct or even just sort of hang around at the back then this is the event for you! MEET AT THE ENTRANCE TO THE NATIONAL THEATRE. A camera (iPhones dslrs whatever) 3. Someone willing to do an edit after we arrive back at the on their computers All teams will then meet-up at a pub in EC1 and watch what we have filmed, happy with what they have learnt! Kodak XX Cinematic Film London Street Photography Photo walk
Kodak XX Cinematic Film London Street Photography Photo walk
A relaxed, four‑hour or so photo walk that starts at Bank Station, threads through the heart of the City, and lands you in Soho by 7:00 pm – perfect for capturing the post‑work buzz without feeling rushed. ## Overview * **Start:** 4:00 pm – Bank Station (Royal Exchange side) and areas nearby * **Midway:** 6:00 pm – Walk through St Pauls, City Thameslink, Fleet Street and then wander through Covent Garden * **Finish:** 8:30 pm – Central Soho (Carnaby Street / Berwick Street area) The route balances iconic landmarks, spontaneous street moments, and the gradual shift from daylight to evening neon, giving you a rich visual story in a single evening. This walk will be about 3 to 4 miles, so please bear this in mind. You may choose to do the first half or the second half instead of the full walk :) We will sign off the evening over drinks / food (for those able to stay back) ## Key Shooting Opportunities * **Office exodus:** Capture groups spilling onto the pavement, coffee in hand, with the City’s glass towers framing the scene. * **Market ambience:** Stalls and lanterns in Covent Garden add texture and warmth. * **Neon nightlife:** Soho’s iconic signage provides bold contrasts for low‑light portraits. ## Gear & Practical Tips * **I will provide one roll of KODAK XX 35mm film for you to use. Each roll has 36 exposures. You may choose to use it at your ISO of choice. I personally tend to stick with 800 ISO, using a slower aperture (5.6 to 11 ) in day light and faster aperture (1.5 to 2.0) in low light. However, this film can be shot at 250, 400, 800 and 1600 ISO easily** * Please make sure you can manually select the ISO on your camera, else this film roll will default to 100 ISO and unless you have an automatic flash, you will struggle with your camera * You can join us at any point of time in the walk . I will share our Live location on WhatsApp (will create a WhatsApp group 2 days before the walk, including the meeting point) Please note: The aim of the walk is to shoot at least one roll of Kodak XX, which will be provided to you. If you do not intend to use XX or not use a film camera kindly do not join this particular walk The cost of the walk includes the film roll and payment required upfront via PayPal to ensure commitment to the walk If you require a film camera for the walk please let me know in advance and I could get one for you to use for the evening

Il Sorpasso (The Easy Life)
Il Sorpasso (The Easy Life)
A classic Italian road comedy that was so good the film ministry recognized it as "culturally significant." Starring Vittorio Gassman and Jean-Louis Trintignant, the film shows that for young men in love the rules of the road are only suggestions. And the rules for love? Hey, this is an Italian picture! Oh to be young and filled with joie de vivre or la dolce vita. A french/italian fun filled movie with a surprising twist at the end. Do you have a fun memory from your youth? Location TBD, but it will be in person for sure!
