TimeCode (2000) Live Remix by Mike Figgis
TimeCode (2000) Live Remix by Mike Figgis
The structure of Timecode is what makes it famous but even without that, it's an absorbing film about a group of people in and around the movie business in Hollywood. Mike Figgis (Leaving Las Vegas) directs an ensemble cast that includes but is not limited to Salma Hayek, Stellan Skarsgård, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Kyle MacLachlan, Saffron Burrows, Holly Hunter, Julian Sands and Leslie Mann. So, what about that structure? It's a one-shot, heavily improvised ensemble piece filmed with up to four handheld cameras, each eventually taking up a quarter of the screen as its characters interact with each other in real time. Each camera follows a character or characters, and you can track the events of the film on any of the split screens, but it doesn't become overwhelming because only one has sound at any one time. Trust me, it works! It's also a film that really benefits from the big screen, since you have plenty of space to see everything at once. This is going to (probably) be a one-off screening where Figgis mixes the cameras/sound live, which I take to mean we might see a completely unique version? Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=icUyG8ZdX04 Tickets [here](https://whatson.bfi.org.uk/Online/default.asp?BOparam::WScontent::loadArticle::permalink=timecode-live-intro&BOparam::WScontent::loadArticle::context_id=), I'm in J13. Figgis will be in conversation with Mark Jenkins, the terrific British director who made Bait and Enys Men, from half six and you can buy a joint ticket for £27.50. Otherwise, let's meet at eight for a pre-drink in the NFT Bar upstairs.

With a sound that blends honest, confrontational lyrics with infectious hooks, Pien is poised to become your next obsession, especially if you´re a fan of Stevie Nicks, Kacey Musgraves, or Linda Ronstadt. [Linktree](https://linktr.ee/pienmusic?utm_source=ig&utm_medium=social&utm_content=link_in_bio) AIDA Aida is an R&B and soul singer-songwriter bringing honesty, sensuality, and freedom into every track. Of Middle Eastern descent, she blends smooth R&B with subtle Arabian scales to create a sound that feels both soulful and distinctive. Inspired by artists like Aaliyah, Beyoncé, and SZA, her music explores love, heartbreak, and the raw emotions that come with it. Aida learned to sing in English before she learned to speak it, and music has been her way of feeling alive ever since. Writing her own lyrics and producing her vocals, she pours real experiences into songs that move between vulnerability, confidence, and moments made to dance. Currently working on her upcoming EP, Aida is carving out a bold, intimate space that’s entirely her own. [Spotify](https://open.spotify.com/album/2UcG6z7VQeIFUIAUBwZvce?si=mm28YTUFQraDX5_o6imRRw) MICHAELA MARIE Michaela Marie is a singer from South East London who has spent many years performing and interpreting songs made famous by her favourite artists. Inspired by the likes of Etta James, Roberta Flack and Cleo Sol, Her neo-soul infused take on classic songs reaffirms their timelessness whilst keeping to the nuanced intricacies that allow them to remain forever etched in hearts the world over. Stepping into a new chapter of songwriting, she incorporates elements of jazz, soul and blues filled with emotional richness and depth. She tackles her inner vulnerability by writing lyrics and melodies that soothe the conscience. With a background in storytelling and poetry, she pours her heart and soul into each syllable, taking her listeners with her on a visceral journey of love, heartbreak and devotion to the past that made her. [Linktree](https://linktr.ee/michaelamarievoc) FARE Using delicate and sincere storytelling, FARE brings out a certain vulnerability when performing her music live. The “captivatingly beautiful sonic landscapes through reverb-drenched guitar loops” provide a luscious backdrop to thoughtful lyricism. Said to have an "open and effortless" style, FARE's Ambient-Folk soundscapes pair immersive guitar textures with ethereal vocals. Come and Play Chamber Music
Come and Play Chamber Music
Come and play Chamber Music at my house on Saturday May 2nd; Time as suits between 2:15pm and 9:30pm Please include instruments and expected times in your response, and follow the below requested precautions when coming: Attendance requirements: Please do not come if you are unwell or if you know you were recently exposed to people with Covid or flu. Suggested standard is AB grade7 or NVQ level5 to professional, but in the end the ability to play with others is more important than instrumental technique I provide the following: Up to six playing spaces for groups of up to 12, 8, 6, 6, 6 and 3, respectively. One of the six-person playing-rooms has a carefully-chosen Steinway model B. Other rooms provide a Clavinova CLP575, a Clavinova 625, and an A415 harpsichord (all in different rooms). I have violins, violas, cello and a friend's 3/4 double bass available to play for multi-instrumentalists who do not wish to carry too much (please check before coming). There is a decent library of chamber music mostly for strings and for strings and piano, but some for mixed grooups and wind quintet; in practice at least one wind player usually comes equipped with appropriate music (I will provide warning to winds should this ever not be the case). As this is my private home, details of the location will be emailed by early Sunday to those who have already signed up. Please confirm instruments, chosen timing and the attendance requirements You will see that available playing times are very long - and I can extend until 10:30pm if appropriate. The intention is to allow us to space out and to minimise infection risks - as well as to give multiple pianists access. Please bring a music stand (let me know if this is difficult or impractical, as I can provide a limited number). There will be beverages and biscuits. I have revised the anonymous contribution arrangement - it is now a rectangular tin on the high side in the kitchen. Please give if you can - we sometimes have insurance costs to cover as well as basic meetUp subscription; any surplus (wishful thinking so far) will be used to help extend the music library The list of signed-up players (by instrument and with timing) is now in the comments below; I will try to keep this reasonably up to date I have probably omitted things you need to know. Please ask. (Ditto apparent errors) Looking forward George
🦉I Love Music @Night Owl Pub Crawl With Vinyl DJ💿
🦉I Love Music @Night Owl Pub Crawl With Vinyl DJ💿
Exploring the musical archives with captivation at both a very young age and later as music radio presentator, club DJ & musicologist - I discovered only snippets of an estimated 97 million songs even though I went all the way back to the 17th century! If you love music, then you'll know it's not just entertainment but a spritual soulful experiene ("I hear my compositions as a single point of light, all I do is hold that point of light in my mind whilst I write it down" Wolfgang Mozart) So let's immense ourselves in our passion by enjoying music, singing, dancing with drinks in hand whilst broadening our music knowledge and exposure by discovering new material, artists and even genres at fun musically themed night out for passionate music lovers in the UK home of rock n roll - Camden of course! Contemporary or old - you must be passionate about music which means you will be prepared to talk about your favourite song(s) and or artist(s), influences and underlying reasons at ease. What is it that makes them stand out and unique? Does the song have personal relevance to you? Are the lyrics poetic or a philosophical masterpiece like in some old hip-hop or is it about the sound of the vocals or hypnotic melodies? Did the song (or artist) play a pivotal role in shaping political change & influence in society (yes some musicians have even died for their artform) or the evolution of new music genres, sub cultures and underground music movements today? Was Lennon & McCartney the greatest ever singer song writer combo or have you heard better? Who are the best all time music producers & song writers - Max Martin, Billy Joel, George Martin, Quincy Jones, Bernie Taupin, Dr Dre, Carole King? Did PWL records destroy the British music scene or contribute to it? We can also touch on influential music producers, labels, DJs and radio stations as well. Discussion on all elements of musicology and enablers is up for grabs. If you can - come prepared with links to samples (feel free to post youtube and other links in the comments section below) to demonstrate or be willing to sing/rap some lyrics so we can get an idea. Funky dance moves optional. =========RENDEZVOUS POINT ================= We will meet inside the Good Mixer where Amy Winehouse's destiny to her young death began on the left side bar where she use to play pool. I'll be wearing Starwars lanyard and will share my nunber and furthe updates on the night. We will spend about 40 mins here and move on to next music place. Lucas

Contra dance with Big Scioty May 2 - Clinton Heights Lutheran church
**Caller: Richard Ades** **Band: The McKenzies** **Clinton Heights Lutheran Church** **15 Clinton Heights Ave, Columbus, OH 43202** WHAT IS CONTRA DANCING? Picture the Grand Ball scenes like you’ve seen in period films such as “Pride and Prejudice”, where the dancers are lined up in long lines, across from each other. That’s English Country Dancing, the predecessor of contra dancing. Now, add moves like “swing your partner” and “do-si-do,” like you’ve seen in square dancing. Set it to fabulous, high energy, live music with fiddles, guitars, percussion and more, alá “Riverdance.” Finally, set the whole scene down in the middle of Woodstock, with a hip, groovy atmosphere, a bit of tie-dye, and hints of counter-culture attitude. THAT’s Contra Dancing! Wear cool and comfortable clothes (you will get warm) and clean shoes that won't mark up our nice wood floor. Be sure to come for the beginner's lesson from 7:30 - 8:00, followed by dancing 8:00 - 10:30. All dances are taught; we will help you learn! Beginners always welcome, no need to bring a partner. Cost is $10.00 adults, $5.00 ages 12-26. Under 12 free. Free parking in church lot. For more information contact me or check out our website: [www.bigscioty.com](http://www.bigscioty.com/) Please bring your own refillable water bottle.
