British Museum 'Sufi Life & Art' free exhibition + pub social (LoMAZ Unlimited)
**Join us for another LoMAZ Unlimited event, this time visiting the 'Sufi Life and Art' free exhibition at the British Museum.**
**Unlike our regular events (which often have waitlists), our Unlimited ones have no cap on numbers. They're a social for everyone, and a great way to see what we're about.**
**â How do our Unlimited events work?**
* We **meet in the museum cafe** first.
* Then we **look** **around 1-3 rooms in the museum for around 50 minutes.**
* You're free to wander around the rooms at your own pace or explore with other members of the group.
* **This isn't a guided tour of the rooms.** We simply limit the number of rooms we visit so it's more manageable with a larger group than usual. Each event we choose a different theme or time period to explore.
* **After this, we head to the pub!**
**THE PLAN:**
**2:00-2.40pm: MEET AND GREET IN BRITISH MUSEUM COURT CAFE**
Look for the hosts wearing LoMAZ badges.
**2:40pm-3.30pm: GO TO 'SUFI LIFE AND ART' FREE EXHIBITION, ROOM 43a ON UPPER FLOOR**

*'This display will explore Sufi life and art through a selection of objects that represent Sufi communities in the Middle East, North and Sub-Saharan Africa, and northern India. This mystical movement, which first appeared in the Islamic world during the eighth century AD, has been defined as a pathway to a personal experience with God.'*

Here's what some of our other students have to say about our classes:
Dean "I started Bushin a few months ago. Having done martial arts for 5 years in another art, I was open to new ideas of what may come with this one. I am thrilled to say it has been fantastic. My instructor Stephen is a legend, he knows what he's talking about and has a no bs way of getting to a point. He is a lover of martial arts and it shows.
His enthusiasm rubs off onto myself and the other students which creates a great learning environment.
This art is marvellous, the group is a humble yet enthusiastic class of students coming to learn. I felt like I was part of the group the moment I joined. Higher belted student don't have an ego and are happy to help and train along side anyone in the class. Joining Bushin has been a tremendous experience."
Konrad "Great place to learn self-defence . Coach with a passion to MMA show you how to react and defend yourself"
Penny "I was completely new to martial arts so I didn't really know what I wanted to learn but I love the way they teach a mixture of martial arts and have a set syllabus. I felt like I was learning boxing, Kickboxing, jujitsu and self defence all in the same class which was great value for money!"
Elizabeth "Great class for beginners and those with experience. Stephen is so welcoming and has been great at helping me find equipment and modify exercises to help with my mobility issues! Really recommend for anyone wanting to try martial arts or get fit in a friendly atmosphere :)"
Lucia "I joined Bushin after a friend of mine was attacked in London and I thought it was a good idea to learn how to defend myself in case something like that happened to me as well. I didn't have any previous experience of self defense or fighting and I thought that this would hold me back, but it was definitely not the case: people in Bushin are so welcoming and nice to each other, always ready to help - it's truly a place for every level, from beginner to black belt. It's much more than a self defense class, it's real street fighting and a super good workout as well , but most importantly, it's great fun! I highly recommend it"

Sketchbook: Hill Garden & Pergola
Let's sketch the Pergola at Hampstead Heath!
Bit of a change of pace from the urban environment but I want to try and explore the world's greenest city more thoroughly. This area looks bloomin' lovely with lots of beautiful nature scenes, hopefully the weather will be good!
The best way to get to the Pergola at Hampstead Heath is by taking the Northern Line to Golders Green or Hampstead stations, both of which are about a 10-20 minute walk away. You can also use bus routes 210 and 268 for convenient access.
Inverforth Close, North End Way, Hampstead Heath, London, GB NW3 7EX
Rendez vous by the big lake/infinity pool bit
Completely free of charge, no need to sign up, bring a friend! Feel free to drop in for the whole two hours or just short while if you'd prefer. Look for the tall ginger fella sketching away as the central meetup spot, I'll hang by the pool but feel free to roam as far and wide as you like and sketch anything you damn well please!
Please bring your own sketchbooks and pens/pencils.
The plan will be to meet at 1pm, sketch for a couple of hours and meet back and chat at 3pm. We can then meet back in the garden and compare pictures.

Beyond Figure Painting â Explore your Art Voice
**The workshop consists of two sessions:**
**Sunday 12th and Monday 13th of April**
**10.00am- 4.00pm (on-site)**
For many of us, working from life -especially with a model- is a cornerstone of our artistic practice. Building on a long tradition, we often reach a point where we crave more personal expression in our work. Whether this urge arises on day one or after years of practice, the question remains: How do we find our unique artistic voice? How can we expand into abstraction or imagination? How do we bridge the gap between working with a model in the studio and continuing our creative journey at home?
Sharing from their personal practice, Suzon will guide participants in discovering and nurturing their own creative voice throughout this two-day workshop. An opportunity to expand your creative toolbox and discover new ways of working.
**Day 1**
Weâll explore visual brainstorming techniques and discover how to infuse our paintings with a deeply personal touch.
Focusing on one key concept at a time, weâll experiment with pushing, stretching, and playing with these ideas to develop a language that feels both personal and intentional.
⢠How can we use values to evoke specific sensations?
⢠Which colours best convey our emotions?
⢠How can our marks and composition and add deeper layers of meaning to our work?
By the end of the day, youâll have learned new skills and ways to engage creatively. Most importantly, youâd have remembered that âLearning to paint wellâ is one great thing, but âLearning to create the paintings that no one elseâs but you could paintâ is the true magic!
**Day 2, working with a model**
Weâll apply our expanded creative toolbox to the unique challenge of working with a model.
Moving beyond straightforward representation, weâll create paintings that are grounded in reality yet elevated by your personal artistic choices. No two paintings will be the same: theyâll each be a mirror of your unique artistic voice.
These two days are perfect for anyone eager to deepen their connection to their creative voice and develop a more personal painting practice. Whether you are an experienced painter or new to the practice, Suzon welcomes participants at all levels and with any medium: oil, acrylic, gouache, colour pencils⌠come with what inspires you!
The workshop will take place in a supportive and inspiring environment, encouraging creative risk-taking, curiosity, and the discovery of your own visual signature.
We plan to share a vegetarian lunch, optional.

Collage Workshop Wimbledon Library
Hello Wimbledon creatives!
After a few successful collage workshops, I have decided to keep it going and I am excited to announce the next one will be on Saturday 11 April 2026 from 2 to 4 pm at Wimbledon Library.
Please ask at the reception for Exhibition Room 1 to find us upon arrival.
The session runs from 2 to 4 pm. Please arrive at 2 pm so we can begin together, and we will finish at 4 pm. I allow 15 minutes at the beginning for setting up and settling in, and 15 minutes at the end for cleaning and packing away, so the creative workshop time itself lasts approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.
We will dive into the art of combining magazines, newspaper pages, and coloured paper to craft unique and quirky pieces.
Whether you are feeling a little lonely and want some warm company, looking for a playful and artistic date, simply want to explore your creative side, or are tired of the digital world and want real interactions, this workshop is for you.
Your ticket includes:
All art materials to create your masterpiece but feel free to bring your own magazines or printed materials if you like.
A patient artist guiding you step by step through your artwork.
Let us celebrate our love for art and create interesting artistic collages together.
Please bring a bag to take your masterpiece home.
Your artwork is yours to keep.

West London Artist's Way - First Meeting: Introduction & Beginning the Journey
This first session is about arrivingâno pressure, no expectations, just a chance to begin.
Weâll gather as a small group and ease into the process of *The Artistâs Way* by Julia Cameron together.
You donât need to have read anything in advance.
This session is a space to:
⨠Meet each other and get a feel for the group
⨠Talk about why creativity matters to us (or why we feel disconnected from it)
⨠Introduce the core ideas of *The Artistâs Way*âincluding Morning Pages and Artist Dates
⨠Set intentions for the 12-week journey ahead
Weâll also take some time to reflect on something simple but important:
**What did you love doing as a kid? And what happened to it?**
Together, weâll begin creating a **third space**âa place outside of work and daily responsibilities where you can show up consistently, be honest, and reconnect with your creative self at your own pace.
**What to expect:**
* A relaxed, welcoming atmosphere
* Light structure with plenty of room for real conversation
* No pressure to shareâlistening is just as valued
**What to bring:**
A notebook and pen if youâd likeâbut mostly just yourself.

Art Night - Bring Your Own Work
Welcome to the Art School - 20's & 30's artists Meetup group! This is a community for young artists who are passionate about exploring different mediums and techniques in the world of art. Whether you're a painter, sculptor, photographer, or mixed media artist, this group is the perfect place to connect with like-minded individuals, have a space to work on your craft, and showcase your work. Let's inspire and support each other on our artistic journeys! Whether you're a novice or a seasoned artist, all skill levels are welcome. Join us and unleash your creativity!
This month we will be discussing **Frank Santoro**, an American cartoonist, painter, and comics critic known for his expressive lines, experimental page layouts, and vibrant use of color. His graphic novelsâincluding *Storeyville*, *Pompeii*, and *Pittsburgh*âblend personal storytelling with innovative visual structure, often exploring memory, place, and relationships. In addition to his comics, Santoro has been an influential voice in comics education and criticism, co-founding the magazine *ComicsComics* and creating the **Santoro Correspondence Course for Comic Book Makers**, which has helped train and inspire a new generation of cartoonists.
Afterwards, we will have time to work on our individual art projects, hang out, and if anyone is interested in feedback on their work, there will be time for that as well.
Prompt vs. Paintbrush
AI is changing how art is made. But when does it stop being your work and start being the machineâs?
This month we're going to be doing a panel with with digital image, music, and written word artists, talking about at what point, while using AI in the creation process, does the work become not the artist creation?
We encourage audience participation during this event that will be moderated by Chris Slee.
Whether youâre deep in the field or just getting curious, come connect with others building and exploring AI in Columbus.
