June 17-21 Sardinia North, Capo Testa, La Maddalena, Bonifacio in Corsica
AAA Hiking are excited to announce our **second destination** trip to the **North** of this stunning island, in a small, intimate group! **We invite you to explore the best beaches in Italy, easy-moderate scenic walks of 5-8 km with coastal views and 360-degree summits, unique Sardinian culture, and tasty local food!** The middle of June is an ideal time for the trip when the sea is already warm, the air is not too hot for walking, and the tourist boats are running to the famous beaches. **[Here are the exploration June 2025 photos](https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?vanity=AAAHikingUK&set=a.1650629139711669)** **Discover the Untamed Beauty of Northern Sardinia with AAA Hiking.** Stretching for kilometres along the turquoise embrace of the Mediterranean, the northern coast of Sardinia is a breathtaking blend of views of Corsica, the islands' archipelago and secluded, low-lying beaches. Here, nature reigns supreme. The mountains, goats, sheep, donkeys, and wild boar roam freely through forests of strawberry trees, holly oaks, and ancient oaks. Overhead, the majestic royal eagle soars, nesting on the highest peaks and guarding this pristine paradise. We will be exploring this beauty on foot and by boat. **HIGHLIGHTS** * Experience the beauty of the **National Park of Arcipelago di La Maddalena**, its coastline, when the sea is warm, and the air is about 25-27 °C. * Easy/Moderate **Coastal Walk on Capo Testa**, around 5-8 km, inhaling a **healing mix of sea and juniper trees' air**. * A new destination, a **tailor-made event**, based in **Santa Teresa Gallura**, a getaway for the boat trips and a ferry to **Corsica**. * **Spiaggia Rena Bianca beach** is one of northern Sardinia’s most captivating coastal gems. * An optional day **trip to Bonifacio, Corsica**, on a ferry. * **Experienced Hike Leaders, who pre-walked the routes**. * Optional **water activities**: SUP, sea kayaking, open sea swimming, snorkelling or even scuba diving if you dare. **All questions to** *[[aaalondongroup@yahoo.co.uk](mailto:aaalondongroup@yahoo.co.uk)]* Organisers took all the photos during their exploration. **STAY INFORMED** **[Join the AAA Hiking Mailing List for our Special Offers.](https://www.aaahiking.co.uk/newsletter-signup)** **ITINERARY** The event starts on Wednesday, 17 June, at the Olbia airport at 20:45 and finishes there on Sunday, 21 June, at 15:10. The ancient Greeks called it **olbìa - ‘happiness’**. It is the gateway to the island and the driving force behind the economy of the Gallura area. Many flights arrive there, and it is a good town to stay in and explore before or after the trip. We will have 3 full days, and we will explore the following 3 places. **The National Park of Arcipelago di La Maddalena was** established in 1994. The park is a protected marine and terrestrial area off the northeastern coast of Sardinia, Italy. It comprises a group of granite islands and islets known for their **crystal-clear waters, unspoiled beaches, and rich marine biodiversity**. The park preserves important Mediterranean ecosystems and is valued both for its natural beauty and its role in marine conservation. **Capo Testa** is a striking rocky promontory in northern Sardinia, near Santa Teresa Gallura, renowned for its **dramatic granite formations** sculpted by wind and sea. Surrounded by **clear turquoise waters**, it features small coves, beaches, and **panoramic views toward Corsica**. The area is valued for its natural scenery, coastal hiking paths, and unique geological landscape. We shall swim during our lunch. **Bonifacio** is a historic town at the southern tip of Corsica, France, **dramatically perched on white limestone cliffs** overlooking the Strait of Bonifacio. Known for its **medieval citadel**, narrow streets, and natural harbour, it offers a distinctive blend of cultural heritage and **striking coastal scenery**. The surrounding area is also notable for sea caves, cliffs, and protected marine environments. There are a few ferries a day, going across the strait; it takes about an hour. The exact itinerary will feature the highlights listed above and will be shared with attendees closer to the day. Every day is planned with care and adjusted according to the most recent weather forecast. **LOCATION** We will be based in **Santa Teresa Gallura**. It is a coastal town in northern Sardinia, located near the Strait of Bonifacio. It is famous for its white-sand beaches, clear waters, and a lively town centre dominated by the Spanish-era Longonsardo Tower. **Spiaggia Rena Bianca beach** is a stunning stretch of powder-white sand in the heart of Santa Teresa Gallura, celebrated for its **luminous turquoise waters and exceptional clarity**. Framed by rocky headlands and opening onto breathtaking views of Corsica, the beach offers a picture-perfect Mediterranean setting that feels both elegant and inviting. Its calm, shallow sea and natural beauty make it **one of northern Sardinia’s most captivating coastal gems.** **WHAT TO EXPECT** AAA has hosted Hiking trips for over 17 years. We have a wealth of experience that will ensure you enjoy great hikes and food. Who's Going to Save Us From the Energy Use of AI? You Are.
Who's Going to Save Us From the Energy Use of AI? You Are.
"Climate change: I say the debate is over. We know the science, we see the threat and we know that the time for action is now" - Arnold Schwarzenegger Forget Skynet. Right now, AI's greatest threat to humanity is its demand for electricity. Anne Currie, co-author of O'Reilly's Building Green Software, will talk about why the energy demand from AI has exceeded anything we've seen before in tech; how that demand can and is being met using efficiency and flexibility by forward thinkers like Google and DeepSeek; and what you can do from your own desk that might have global impact on both the AI and the renewable power revolutions. Anne will be joining us remotely. Check out the Green Software Brighton [website](https://greensoftwarebrighton.co.uk/) for links to previous talks. Arrive from 18:00 for pizza and drinks. Talk will start at 18:30. We always head for a drink and a chat locally afterwards too. --- ***Thank you to Runway East for use of their space to host our events and to Silicon Brighton and the Green Software Foundation for supporting us.***

Khao Bird (Thai/SoHo)
Khao Bird (Thai/SoHo)
Join us for a lively London Foodies dinner at **Khao Bird**, a Northern Thai barbecue restaurant in the heart of Soho, serving bold, smoky, spicy dishes designed for sharing. Khao Bird has quickly become one of London’s most talked-about Thai openings, with critics praising its punchy flavours, fun Soho setting and inventive take on Northern Thai and Burmese-influenced cooking. Time Out describes the vibe as “a rowdy crowd getting stuck into big BBQ flavours,” while Giles Coren in The Times called it “fiery, sexy and absolutely brilliant.” Expect a sociable, flavour-packed evening with plenty of dishes to share across the table. Popular and much-praised dishes include: * **Mutton loaded fries** — described by Time Out as a “non-negotiable order” and “a hero dish” * **Shan BBQ meatballs** — cola-glazed, spicy and one of the standout dishes mentioned by several reviewers * **Khao soi with barbecued chicken thighs** * **Prawns KJ / prawn khanon jeen** * **Onglet steak with white curry** * **Whole fried seabass**, if available as a special * **Doughnut bao with ice cream** to finish Hot Dinners called Khao Bird a “fantastic new Soho gem” and said the food is “excellent throughout,” while Michelin highlights dishes such as the “moreish” prawns and khao soi with barbecued chicken thighs. This should be a great one for anyone who enjoys Thai food, smoky barbecue flavours, spicy dishes, sharing plates and a buzzy Soho atmosphere. As always with London Foodies, the idea is simple: good food, good conversation and a relaxed evening with people who enjoy discovering interesting restaurants. Please only RSVP if you are confident you can attend, as the booking numbers matter for the restaurant. Please note there will be a £10 deposit payable for this event. As there is a no-show charge of this amount being charged by the restaurant we are doing this to cover any potential cancellations without advance notice. Once you have signed up for the event you will be contacted by the organiser to arrange payment. If payment is not made within 24 hours of the payment request we may have to remove your name from the attendees list.
