[FREE] Weekly English Class & Community Meetup
Join us for a friendly and relaxed English meetup in South Melbourne! This gathering is perfect for anyone who wants to practise English, meet new friends, and feel part of a welcoming community. Whether you’re an international student, new to Melbourne, or simply looking to connect with others, you’ll find a supportive space to learn and grow.
Each week, we run **two simple sessions**: **Daily English**, where you learn useful everyday vocabulary, and **Learning English from the Bible**, where we explore short passages in clear, beginner-friendly English. You’ll also meet people from different cultures and enjoy meaningful conversations in a warm, inclusive environment.
Come along, make new friends, and enjoy learning English in a place where everyone is welcome. We’d love to meet you!

If not it'll set you back the princely sum of **$60**!
This year we are back again with our CHRISTMAS CRAWL! Jump (or crawl) into the Christmas spirit on our bar crawl this winter with our LOWEST ticket price through meetup. Exclusive to our Christmas crawls, you can grab your own festive goodies to celebrate in style!
We're rated number #1 for nightlife on TripAdvisor in Brighton (UK), Barcelona, and Tokyo, #3 for London and now we're in Melbourne... where we're also rated #1!
You get:
1. A free shot at each bar (Apple sourz / jungle juice etc, nothing fancy)
2. Drink discounts at each bar when you show your wristbands
3. Free entry to a club at the end of the night
'$15‽ hmmm, What's the catch?'.. I hear you ask:
1. It would be polite (though it's not compulsory) to buy a drink at each place that we visit.
2. You must arrive on time (**before 19:30**, very strict cutoff time!) and have clicked 'attending' before arriving, otherwise the event costs $60.
Please[ join our WhatsApp group](http://bit.ly/OTR-Bar-Crawl-Melbourne) to get your drink deals and 5 min warnings etc using this link: [bit.ly/OTR-Bar-Crawl-Melbourne](http://bit.ly/OTR-Bar-Crawl-Melbourne)
For questions about the crawl, to contact your guides, or for any other enquiries, the best way to contact us is to use this group chat. Please note that messages or comments on the Meetup group or event pages may not be responded to promptly.
Whether you're new to Melbourne or just expanding your social circle, bar crawling is a fantastic way to meet people! Our crawl will be full of lively people who are just there to meet new friends and have a good time. Energetic guides will take you to at least 5 great bars and clubs in Melbourne's CBD. During the night you will get at least 5 free shots, free fast-track entry to every venue, and some fantastic exclusive drinks deals. We even have a photographer on hand to capture all of the good, the bad, and the weird bits that make up a night out On The Rocks.
The guides make sure to make everyone feel included, encourage mixing within the group and introduce everyone. This makes it a great activity whether you come alone or with friends.
We hope to meet you soon :)
INFO:
Meet **BEFORE 19:30**, you'll find the guide inside '215 Queen's'
215 Queen St,
Melbourne VIC 3000,
Australia
No excuses for being late. If you say 'oh I was here on time but didn't come and find you/get in the queue' then it won't help you I'm afraid. Same goes for 'I couldn't find parking', 'my tram was late' and 'I had to feed my pet echidna'.
Dress Code: No tracksuits (including tracky-dacks), Thongs (the shoes...the undies are fine), singlets, shorts, or beach wear. Sorry.
BRING ID! 18+ years old only (Sorry, it's the law :/ ) Make sure to bring a valid Driving Licence or Passport, other forms of ID (including photocopies of the above) are unlikely to be accepted by the venues that we visit. Make sure to bring ID no matter your age.
and, one last time, **THIS EVENT IS ONLY $15 IF YOU FOLLOW THE THREE STEPS AT THE START OF THIS DESCRIPTION.**

It will be $60 if you fail to do any of these things.

**What's more?**
\- We have happy hours\!
\- If you’re feeling a little shy\, don’t worry—we’ve got you covered\! You’re welcome to bring a lady friend along for free\!
\- We will meet at 7\.00 pm when you will be welcomed by your host Janna\. She will manage the evening and also help you make connections\.
If you are a bit shy or anxious then please come early. Janna will help you meet other members in a small group and help you settle down and get comfortable. All attendees are also welcome to bring a lady friend along with them for free. This will make it a lot less stressful for you as you will always have your friend alongside.
Our venue for the evening - La Di Da is spacious, has comfortable seating and not very noisy. We have a reserved area where our members can meet each other in a supportive environment.
\- From 7\.30 to 8\.30 pm\, we will start 'Fast Friending' where our host Janna will ask you to speak to a different attendee every 3 minutes\. You will be able to meet lots of ladies and gentlemen and not be limited to only those sitting or standing next you\.
\- After 8\.30 pm you will have time to interact with those you have met as well as others\.
\- We are not a close knit tight group\. Our evenings are warm and comfortable for members attending for the first time and those coming alone\. You will not feel alone\!
\- We have many groups in this city\. Members of our other groups who RSVP are included as guests of the organisers in order to give you an indication of expected people\.
\- This evening is for ladies and gents in the 25 to 50 age group\. While some will be at the younger end of this range there will also be others at the other end of the range and lots in\-between\! You will naturally gel with others of your own age range and so you will always find many attendees who fit your range\.
\- We are not a 'dating' group\. We are focused on helping ladies and gents meet other like minded ladies and gents\. You will generally find a good gender balance \(maybe not perfect\) at all our events\.
Why do we have tickets?
1. Cover our costs - Our host is compensated for their time and work. We also pay meetup and have dedicated staff to manage our events, hosts, venues and communication.
2. Group Safety - By securing your ticket we have a record and you contribute to a well organized evening where everyone is more committed and better behaved.
3. Management - Tickets help us better manage attendee group size, book suitable space and activity.

Brunswick Scottish Party and Dance - BYO drinks etc
Please Note: Due to renovations of our normal hall we have a new place for December and the first 6 months of 2022. This is a smaller hall so numbers are limited.
A ceilidh (pronounced kay-lee) is a night of traditional Scottish dancing. Join with the Brunswick Scottish Society and learn how to do fun dances, and have some BYO drinks. Don't worry if you don't know how to dance -- the lovely people will teach you. This is the best $5 night you'll ever have!
This is like a big party in a hall with BYO drinks, BYO glass/cup, BYO food and lots of Scottish Dancing. Most of the dances are like square dances with everyone being told or shown what to do. A few of the dances are similar to those done at ballroom places such as the Pride of Erin Waltz, Parma Waltz, Charmain Foxtrot or Evening 3 Step. Don't worry if you don't know any, they teach you.
It finishes early, about 11pm, which is good as it's cheap drinks (BYO) you are probably best to use Public Transport. The 96 Tram gets you back to the CBD quite quickly. Some of us pop around the corner after and go to the Lomond Hotel on Nicholson St. The Lomond Hotel normally has a good band and dancing with free entry. Note: The number 96 tram just outside the hotel is one of the trams that is now running all night.
It is a family event so you can bring children who might enjoy learning to dance. There can be six or seven other children there or there may be none.
FAQ:
COST: $5 tickets at the door
TIME: 7:45pm for an 8pm start
LOCATION: 21 Harding St, Coburg VIC 3058
Note our normal hall is under renovation. Please don't go to Fleming Park Hall, 104 Victoria St., Brunswick East (the building just east of the Brunswick Bowls Club - 96 tram, stop #26. Note: If you end up at the tram terminus you have gone one stop too far.
FOOD: Normally we bring food for a shared dinner - such as pasta, a salad, or cupcakes. Due to covid we are currently not having a shared dinner but you can bring snacks for yourself or immediate group at your table.
DRINKS: bring your own + bring glasses/cups
WEAR: plaid/tartan if you have it. It's not required, it's just way more fun!
AFTER: drinks at the Lomond Hotel on Nicholson
Note: This is being placed on a number of meetup groups and similar. We feel that having around 50 people dancing is quite good for this hall but previously had months with it going towards double this. Consequently we're now setting maximum RSVP numbers with the maximum being shared between groups. We monitor the total RSVPs over all groups and when we get enough people we cut off each group's maximum so that further RSVPs go onto wait lists.
Play 3-Sided Soccer at Albert Park - mixed - social - all levels - all fitness
3 Teams. 3 Goals. Hexagonal Pitch. A game of alliance and betrayal in equal measure.
We are looking for new players and returning players alike to come play a match. Players of any ability, fitness level or background are welcomed - the game is intended to be fun for a Sunday morning rather than super competitive.
If you've never played before, that's okay - the rules are as simple as this:
* There's no offside - roam where you will
* Defend your goal at all costs
* No hands (this is soccer-style football after all)
Come down for 9:00am, we make some balanced teams and warm up for the match starting at 9:15.
Three thirds are played of 25 minutes each so we're usually done by about 11:00am. All fitness and soccer skill levels more than welcome and encouraged!
A note regarding junior players:
We very much enjoy and encourage junior players to come along and play however please be aware of the following:
* As most attendees are adults, all players must be a minimum of 1.5m tall and 13 years of age. Soccer may have incidental contact when contesting a ball, and we would hate for someone small to be injured as a result of running into someone larger than them.
* Any players under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a playing parent or guardian.
How to find us -
We meet on the astroturf pitch near the Baselball and Hockey clubs in Albert Park. The main location we use is called "Dorothy Coleman Field". If we aren't there then there may be a couple of other locations, [as noted on this dynamic map](https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1JdDwV4AOV5e-xP5d56m16-eu29GlnZQ&usp=sharing) \- generally we will follow in number order\.

Free In-Person Meeting: Get Over Losses & Betrayals, Build Lasting Relationships
This is a free, in-person meeting on the subject of betrayals, losses and how to get over them so you can build lasting relationships.
Burdened by a stressful relationship? Unhealthy relationships can trigger feelings of anger, despair or self-doubt. They can create dwindling spirals of fights and seeking to make-up, or trying to “pin the blame” on someone or something. If you don’t find the RIGHT reasons, or select the correct sources of the problem, the problem can just get worse and worse.
Whether in love or personal ties, with friends or at work, our life really IS affected by the quality of our relationships. Good ones can promote pleasure and survival while less optimum ones can lead to annoyance, anger, self-doubt, stress, or even affect our health and ability to survive well.
Whether you are suffering from a divorce, or a painful break-up, don’t know who to trust (or who to CHOOSE) as a partner, friend, boss or employee - the anxiety of relationship troubles can really make a mess of things. Maybe you’ve suffered a betrayal, or are dealing with hostility or criticalness or invalidation. Dwindling relationships can involve destructive behavior, where we hurt those we love, or start succumbing to self-destructive thoughts, attitudes or behaviors that spiral out of control and affect much more than our immediate relationship.
Past losses in love or life can affect how we act or react to new people and situations and hold us back from even starting to create new, possibly great relationships! How can one get back onto a saner course of action?
Come to our Meetup, where we can introduce you to some of the knowledge, tools and techniques of the breakthroughs in the field of the mind that we can apply to this ever important area of life: human relationships!
Break free from self imposed limitations
Here we will discuss:
• How to “erase” the trauma of past hurts and betrayals so that one isn’t always repeating past mistakes.
• Why and how do the negative emotions of others affect you?
• Why is my partner withdrawing and what can I do about it?
• Why do we sometimes feel compelled to hurt the ones we love?
• Fights & arguments - what's really behind them?
• What underlies “corrosive criticism” or the need to invalidate self or others?
• How one can stably change one’s outlook on life so they can affect positive change?
• Where do compulsive destructive behaviors come from and what can be done about them?
• How to form closer bonds & keep growing the relationships with the people you care about?
• How to enhance one’s own ability to survive and create positive healthy relationships whether in love, family & friendships or in work, business or one’s career?
Relationships can be hard and life itself IS challenging. Why not arm yourself with the knowledge and breakthroughs that have been made about the mind, mental reactions & interpersonal relationships, so that one has better awareness and control over themselves and life in general.
Learn where painful experiences are “stored” and how they can unknowingly affect us. You will also find out how one can “erase” those past painful experiences so that one is free to move forward without being tripped up by the past. Learn too, about what can lead some people to become “toxic” personalities and how to identify those traits in others so you won’t be tripped up trusting the wrong person.
Our free Meet-ups occur in a safe environment where one can learn, without fear of judgment or criticism, and without the recommendation of harmful mental techniques or therapies, just how YOU can get yourself onto a happier & more successful path: in love & in life.
We look forward to having you join us!

Thriller Tuesday: THE HOUSEMAID at Cinemark Stoneridge!
Who doesn't enjoy a twisted tale to go along with their holiday cheer!? The twisty-turny tale follows a young woman who takes a job as a housekeeper for a well-to-do family who could harboring dark secrets! Here’s a description, trailer and plan for this event:
DESCRIPTION: Trying to escape her past, a young woman accepts a job as a live-in housemaid for a wealthy couple. The Housemaid is directed by Paul Feig (A Simple Favor) and based on the first in a series of books by Freida McFadden. The film stars Sydney Sweeney, Amanda Seyfried, Brandon Sklenar, Michele Morrone and Elizabeth Perkins.
TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=48CtX6OgU3s
BUZZ: Early buzz is strong with critics calling it an "entertaining,” "twisty" and suspenseful psychological thriller with non-stop twists and turns to keep you guessing until the end!
