Open play comes to Cleveland Park Library (downstairs meeting room) the first and third Thursday of the month! Both American and Chinese/Hong Kong style players are welcome to meet new friends, practise your hands, and improve your strategy. Although no formal instruction or lessons will be offered, lots of friendly players to proffer advice.

A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for 1st- through 4th-level characters. Hellknight forces have forcibly taken over Citadel Altaerein, the abandoned Hellknight citadel on the edge of Breachill, a small town in Isger, while also leading a reign of terror on the innocent civilians and the leadership alike. The Eagle Knights of Andoran have called upon the Pathfinder Society for backup while they handle the citadel, requesting that they rescue the civilians and prevent any unneeded harm. While the Pathfinders are moving throughout the town, they learn of a secret way into the citadel, and though it's not without its dangers and threats, they could learn *so much* from the enemy... Welcome to the wonderful world of Hooky. Of the 26 children who should be in classes today, three are off playing hooky. It is morning before school starts, and in the chaos, your job as a homeroom teacher is to figure out which three are missing. JOIN OUR NEW SOCIAL MAHJONGG LEAGUE for weekly game play based on the NMJL (American-style) Mahjongg rules — PLUS some exciting and fun extras, such as more robust games, a completely new new scoring system, and the addition of the MAD JOKER, which can be used for any tile — even pairs and singles! The season consists of 8 weeks of sessions (1x a week) on Wednesdays from January 7 through February 25, 2026 Each session consists of 4 games, some with special themes and/or hands. All players receive a score based on winning with mahjongg — or being close. Awards will be presented at the end of the season for high scores and special categories. Welcome to Nusfjord, a tranquil fishing village in the Lofoten archipelago in northern Norway, where you will play as the owner of a fishing company. Your goal is to develop the harbor and the surrounding landscape. To succeed, you must expand your fleet, clear the forest, construct new buildings, issue shares, and appease the local elders. Do this better than the other owners (players) to win the game. Nusfjord is a tight worker-placement Euro that feels much bigger than its small box suggests. With only three workers per round and a total of seven rounds, every action matters. Players compete for shared action spaces to gather resources, build an efficient engine, and time their investments carefully. The limited number of turns creates constant tension: do you focus on growing your fishing fleet for steady income, rush key buildings before opponents claim them, or sell shares now to fund long-term gains? If you’ve played Agricola, Caverna, or A Feast for Odin - all, like Nusfjord, designed by Uwe Rosenberg - this will feel familiar, but faster, tighter, and more focused, with far fewer actions and less long-term sprawl. We have two copies of the game, so RSVPs are limited to 10. Let us know if you can bring a copy, and we will add more slots.

**A drop-in game every Sunday afternoon at the Lillian and Albert Small Capital Jewish Museum.** The museum is located one block from the Judiciary Square Metro station (Red line). Street parking is available, and a paid garage is located at 3rd and G Streets. You do not need to be a member of the museum to participate. On entry to the building, inform the front desk staff that you are there to play mahj, and you will be directed to the Nosh Pit, where you can also enjoy a snack and coffee. **All skill levels are encouraged to participate.** **Lessons for new and returning players are available at 1:00 (please be on time).** Games begin at 1:00. A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 3–6 (subtiers 3–4 and 5–6). In part 1 of the two-part Perennial Crown adventure, the Pathfinders journey to the island of Bhopan for the first time in over four centuries! On the forested island where founding Pathfinder Selmius Foster met his demise, the PCs will meet the fey-descended Bhopanese people. Not all diplomatic negotiations take place in a stuffy meeting hall, however. In order to navigate the complex, fey-influenced customs of Bhopanese court and establish a relationship with the rulers of Bhopan, the PCs must find their way through a masquerade ball filled with complex dance steps and hidden agendas. When the longshanks of Isger start to gather troops, the goblins of the Chitterwood Forest get nervous, especially when one side of those troops are mostly composed of Hellknights. Throughout the forest, there have been reports of undead attacks on goblin tribes, prompting some of the larger tribal leaders to gather together to discuss their next actions as a whole. As an ally of the Chitterwood goblins, the Crookedtoes tribe has requested that the Pathfinder Society offer some protection during the discussions, making sure that the only fires and explosions that occur are from goblin hands! Game night with a potluck, join us at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Reston on Wiehle Ave. for a game night and potluck. All are welcome there. I will bring a selection of over 2 dozen games of different styles from my collection. Please be respectful of the venue and any other groups that may be using the facility and, as you are able, please help clean up at the end of the night. Children are welcome. However, they are expected to be playing games in the same room. If you are bringing children, please make sure to bring games they enjoy playing. This is also a potluck so please bring some food to share. Hosts bring at least one main dish and a side dish, and plates, utensils, and basic drinks are provided. We are appreciative of any food you want to bring. A $5 per person suggested donation to the church helps cover basic costs.

New Date and Time starting in May 2024. Sunday Night Chess is now Saturday Night Chess! Casual Chess: informal skittles games or optionally with Clocks (Blitz, Rapid, Quick, or custom time controls). Meetups of Ashburn Chess Club are held on 2nd floor of the Wegmans supermarket, 45131 Columbia Pl, Sterling, VA 20166, located in the Dulles Centre Shoppes Plaza which is just off the Waxpool Road Exit on Route 28 expressway. To find the chess games, take the elevator or stairs up to the 2nd floor mezzanine level. If there are RSVP the host will usually arrive a few minutes early to set up tables in the center mezzanine section located near the Kids Room with the TV. Guests, walk-ins, kibitzers are all welcome too; we request minor children to be accompanied by an adult, and we request only chess players RSVP, members and guests who are attending to play chess, so we have an accurate count of chessboards needed to set up.
