Clothing Swap
We're hosting a clothing swap this month. A clothing swap is a sustainable, cost-effective event where people exchange gently used clothing and accessories, refreshing their wardrobes without spending money or creating textile waste. Participants bring clean, unwanted items and take home "new-to-them" pieces contributed by others, acting as a social and eco-friendly alternative to shopping.
This is NOT a donation event - please don't bring clothes for dropoff. You should bring a few items with the intent of taking home other items. All sizes welcome.
Bring your parents and let's swap some clothes!
Location will be shared upon registration.
Picnic at the Netherlands Carillon
Hi everyone! We're finally ready to introduce our little girl!. Let's do a relaxed picnic at the Netherlands Carillon. Bring a blanket and some snacks or lunch for yourselves, plus your little ones if you have them. We'll find a shady spot and just hang out, no agenda, come and go as nap times allow. Babies, toddlers, and partners all welcome. Heads up that this is weather dependent. If it's looking rainy or too hot, we'll post an update here the morning of. Parking is available near the Iwo Jima Memorial. Can't wait to see everyone and have her finally meet the group that's been part of this journey with us!
Merry May Meetup!
Start off your Memorial Day weekend with your fellow Spectrals at Cleveland Park Library! Located at 3310 Connecticut Ave. NW in Washington, DC less than two blocks from the Cleveland Park Metro station on the Red Line, the library is a quiet place to meet, relax, and hang out.
We're meeting in the large conference room on the second floor.
Due to fire regulations, only 20 people can RSVP. Once the count gets to 20, the list will be closed.
Eating is prohibited, but drinks in containers with lids are allowed.
Afterwards, we typically visit Fat Pete's, a barbecue place with vegetarian, pasta, pizza, and salad options. The owner, PJ, is autistic and knows Spectrum Friends well. I will contact him and let him know we're coming. If he says the place is quiet, we will go there. He always seats us in the quietest place possible. The address is 3407 Connecticut Ave, NW.
If Fat Pete's is crowded, there are many other places to go eat in Cleveland Park.
Driving is not recommended. Parking is expensive and nearly impossible to find. Taking Metro or a rideshare is much easier.
For information on Metro's schedule, please visit [Weekend Track Work: Metro](wmata.com/weekend).
If you have trouble finding the place or are running late, please call or text me at 202-802-3238.
See you soon,

All You Can Eat Brunch at Kanpai
Hello!
For May, we're in Maryland for a nice lunch buffet. See the menu here: https://assets.peblla.net/17327851650786d5d46c3f3934f6d81acf9a1aaf79f06.pdf
There is a parking lot. Alternatively, you can walk from the Twinbrook stop on the Red Line.
A couple of disclaimers: this is not a "meet market." Many of us desire to become DINKs at some point, while others do not; let's not assume the former for anyone. In the spirit of the overall group, this is inclusive in that regard. But please just come with the intent to have fun and connect with other CFs, not to hook up or partner up. If it happens naturally, awesome. But please don't have that goal in mind. You can bring a guest provided they're single and childfree.
If something comes up and you can't make it, please switch your RSVP to "no" by Friday, 5/22 at 5 p.m. That said, if you've repeatedly signed up and then switched your RSVP to "no," I reserve the right to move you to the waitlist if we have enough people wanting to go.
Reservations are limited to ten; if anybody wants to make their own reservation so we can have more, let me know, and I'll increase the size.

Drunken Philosophy: Whatās up with all the AI hate?
**Welcome to Drunken Philosophy** a casual, curious social discussion
**Optional topic for this meetup: What's up with all the AI hate?**
A recent survey found that 74% of Americans have a negative view of AI, and I want to know why. Come out and debate whether AI is good or bad.
My hot take: a labor-saving tool that could potentially help cure cancer gets called dangerous because it might raise unemployment or cause a speculative investment bubble, that tells you a lot more about capitalism and the economic system we live under than it does about the tool itself. As a computer programmer, I think AI is a wonderful tool that has increased my productivity by at least an order of magnitude. I'd go so far as to say Claude Code is the best tool I have ever used. Debate me and name a better one.
Is AI potentially dangerous? Yes, but so are a lot of tools. Chainsaws. Steam engines (early ones would occasionally explode and kill everyone in the room). Do you think cavemen sat around debating whether fire could be used as a weapon or for self-harm, and decided not to discover it?
I have two friends who hate AI for opposite reasons: one thinks it's a fad and not useful, and the other thinks it's going to take over everything and cause human extinction.
Come out tonight, have a friendly debate, and make some friends.
No lectures. Friendly crowd. Drop in for one drink and stay if it's fun.
French Chat & Chill
Welcome to the group! We are kicking things off with our very first meetup and would love for you to join.
**All levels are welcome**, from absolute beginners to native speakers. This is a purely casual get-together to practice speaking, make new friends, and have a good time. Drop by, say hi (*or salut!*), and let's hang out!
At Panera Bread
300 W Lane Ave, Columbus, OH 43201
*Note: We're kicking things off at Panera for this first one to see how it goes, but we can definitely look into other fun spots or activities for future meetups based on what the group wants to do!*
Can't wait to see you there! āļøš„
