Silent Book Club is a group of book lovers who enjoy reading together in public. All books and all readers are welcome. The tradition of calligraphy was first brought to Japan from China in the 6th century. The style and technique, unique to Japan, later evolved and was practiced by the samurai, the nobility and the general public. We will practice different types of kanji and try to transform them into artistic works, which you can of course take home with you. We meet to learn and practice American Sign Language and to grow our familiarity with Deaf culture. Facilitated by hearing folks (with a connection to a professional interpreter) using Deaf-created content. People of all ASL skill levels are welcome! As we learn, we hope to connect more with the Deaf community in Central Ohio. Join us as you're able! Come regularly or just once - whatever you're looking for!
