Revised for bushfire closures.** ## Bairnsdale to Nowa Nowa The journey begins in Bairnsdale, travelling through picturesque countryside on the East Gippsland Rail Trail to reach Bruthen for a first night’s camp. Then we ride on to the quaint village of Nowa Nowa. This leg offers a gentle introduction to the scenic forests of the Gippsland region. Staying at Mingling Waters, we can take in its creative spirit and natural beauty. This stop allows for further relaxation and discovery. After a day to enjoy Nowa Nowa's Lake Tyers, or to ride out to Bruthen we depart for a short gravel road to Pettmans Beach, on the Ninety Mile Beach. ## Pettmans Beach A visit to Pettmans Beach offers a chance to enjoy the coastal scenery, walk along the sand, and listen to the soothing sounds of the ocean. We shall stay here two nights. The tour continues along the rail-trail to the tranquil Snowy River at Marlo, a renowned natural swimming spot and fishing destination. This segment offers the chance to immerse in nature and unwind by the water. ## Snowy River Experience Spend time at Marlo, and further along the coast at Cape Conran, enjoying the serene atmosphere and the opportunity for relaxation and reinvigoration. The area is perfect for swimming, picnicking, and soaking up the peaceful surroundings. We shall visit the Cabbage-tree Palms Reserve, do a couple of day rides in the forest and may enjoy a dinner on the deck at the Marlo Hotel. ## Returning via Nowa Nowa to Eagle Point This stretch highlights the diverse landscapes, forests and natural features that make Gippsland unique. Revisiting these delightful towns briefly we camp at Eagle Point. ## Eagle Point At Eagle Point, participants can enjoy the tranquil lakeside environment, perfect for birdwatching and leisurely walks along the water’s edge, especially traversing the natural silt-jetties of the Mitchell River mouth. We will spend a whole day here, enabling a visit to Paynesville and a trip on the car-ferry to Raymond Island. ## Eagle Point to Echo Bend This stretch highlights the diverse landscapes, forests and natural features that make Gippsland unique. We pass through Bairnsdale again then tiny Lindenow before climbing into the hills and bushland to Echo Bend. ## Echo Bend Experience The surrounding National Park and riverside makes for a relaxing and peaceful time. Walk to the Den of Nargun, take in the views from Bluff Lookout, cool off in the Mitchell River or walk to the Old Weir historic site. The goannas and koalas will look out for your campsite. ## Echo Bend to Traralgon After relaxing at Echo Bend, the journey resumes. We return down the Glenaladale valley and ride through some hilly forest lands, into Stratford for a night camping. The next day we ride along the Gippsland Plains Rail Trail through pastured river flatlands. We first pass through Maffra, then ride in to the delightful village of Tinamba with its charming hotel. From here we ride on to Glengarry and Traralgon. Here, the tour concludes and we will catch the train home, having provided a rejuvenating journey through some of the region’s most peaceful and beautiful destinations. Etiquette: Social pace. Tour d'Altona - 50km evening ride - #14 for the season
\* Our 14th Altona weekly evening ride in its 12th season \* Td'A is a 50km evening ride in the daylight saving months and intended for intermediates due to the speed and headwinds. We cycle on bike paths to Williamstown and Altona and return in the dark on paths and roads. Climbing and the Pub: A vertical social adventure with 🥑food and 🍻drink
Climbing and the Pub: A vertical social adventure with 🥑food and 🍻drink
🧗Climbing, onwards and upwards to the Pub: A Vertical Social Adventure Eat Drink Dance Melbourne – Social Rock Climbing Night Hardrock Climbing, Swanston St (CBD) Thursday 8 January 2026 – Subject to venue timetables (stay tuned!) **Venue information** inc costs. [Hard Rock Climbing](https://www.hardrock.com.au/prices/) You will need to purchase entry and at a minimum also a rock climbing harness, you also have the option to hire climbing shoes (for a better experience) and chalk although these are not exactly necessary if you are new to the sport. Ready to swap the dance floor for a climbing wall and flirt with gravity for a couple of hours? Join us for Climbing to Pub, a fun, social, slightly chaotic vertical adventure right in the heart of Melbourne. We’ll spend around 2 hours at Hardrock Melbourne (CBD) scaling colourful walls, cheering each other on, and discovering which muscles we forgot existed. Afterwards, for those who want to keep the good vibes rolling, we’ll wander over to Captain Melville for dinner and drinks from 9pm—because nothing says “I conquered a wall” like a cold beverage and a hearty feed. --- What to Bring - Water (hydration = happiness) - Comfortable, stretchy clothes - Runners (or hire climbing shoes for a much better grip-and-zip experience) - A big carbohydrate snack to keep the energy flowing - Your best “I swear I’m not afraid of heights” attitude --- For First‑Timers & New Gym Climbers If you’ve never climbed before—or you’re new to Hardrock—you’ll need to complete a compulsory safety induction. The friendly staff will outfit you with a harness and teach you how to belay safely (aka: how to hold your climbing partner’s life in your hands with confidence and charm). We’ll be doing roped climbing, so teamwork is part of the fun. --- A Note from Your (Very Rusty) Host Once upon a time I was a climbing and mountaineering instructor… and then came lockdowns, injuries, hand surgeries, and a long break from the vertical arts. So I’ll be right there with you on the baby beginner climbs, laughing, wobbling, and rediscovering my forearms. No pressure, no ego—just a group of friendly humans having a go. --- What to Expect - A fun, flirty, low‑stakes social atmosphere - Lots of cheering, laughing, and “wait, how do I get down?” moments - A guaranteed dose of DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) if you haven’t exercised in a while - A perfect warm‑up for the group’s cycling rides if you want to get those muscles activated Climbing is one of the best social sports around—shared challenge, shared triumph, and plenty of opportunities to chat between climbs. Whether you’re a seasoned wall‑scrambler or a total newbie, you’re welcome. Stay tuned for final confirmation once Hardrock releases their summer timetable. If we can't get a good time, I'll rebook the event for when they have late night opening again. Let’s climb, laugh, flirt with gravity… and then wander to the pub. If you do not get there on time ask at reception for the Meetup group run by Mark **_Pleaee Note_**:Please ensure that you remove yourself from the RSVP list if you can't make it, and let other people on the waitlist, if there is one, onto the event. I tend to remove no shows and flakes from the group for special events like this

Aus Open: Ground Pass Men's Semi Final night social at AO-Topcourt
Aus Open: Ground Pass Men's Semi Final night social at AO-Topcourt
Enjoy the Australian Open atmosphere on Men's Semi Final night. If you haven't visited the Aus Open this year, this is one of Melbourne's best sporting events and is excellent value for entertainment and a great night out. The atmosphere is buzzing but yet the vibe is quite relaxed. The Ground Pass is $19 and provides access to the many outside courts as well as the Topcourt area where there are food and drink vendors and big screens to watch the action on the main courts. Buy your own tickets here for **Friday the 30th Night Ground Pass.** https://www.ticketmaster.com.au/event/2500631BDC10199D?brand=ausopen The ground pass allows entry from 5pm. I'll arrive at Topcourt at around 6:15pm. Once everyone has gathered, we'll look at the match schedules and see if we can find some outside courts to watch some tennis. If these prove to be too busy, then we can relax at one either the Courtside bar, Grandslam Oval, The Local Bar at the Village or head back to Topcourt and watch the action on the screens while enjoying something to drink and eat. From the AO website: *"TOPCOURT, the AO’s vibrant precinct at Birrarung Marr which debuted in 2025 is back with fan-favourite Game On, more live music and entertainment, POP and Pickleball courts, fresh activations and shopping."* **What to bring:** * Appropriate clothing if it's sunny/windy/rainy/etc. * Sunscreen if it's sunny **MEETING LOCATION** Meet at Topcourt. Head through the gates at Birrarung Marr, then follow the signs to Topcourt on your left. https://maps.app.goo.gl/aDMFgM6tSZVDdbeK6 **LIABILITY WAVER** The organiser of this group cannot accept any liability for any loss, damage, injury or accidents to participants or their property on this event.
