A brief introduction and discussion about lexical analysis, parsers, grammars, NDFA and DFA, and compiler generators. A grammar is a 4-tuple defined as Non terminals, terminals, a start symbol, and a set of productions. G(N, T, S, P) LL (scan from the left and build a left tree), LR (scan from the left and build a right tree). Recursive descent (A possibly hand built LL parser). Productions will be Chomsky type 3 for regular expressions for lexical analysis, and type 2 (context free) for computer languages, based on BNF. Let’s build a very simple tokeniser and then use it to parse a small language using recursive descent. My language of choice would be C# but we could use C or C++ if there is consensus on that. Hey Randoms, This is your chance to try sleeping outdoors in the cold season! 11 KM on Friday Night - night hiking is fun! 24 KM on Saturday. It's an after-work-on-a-Friday type of event, with a short hike 11 KM Friday night and around 24 KM on Saturday. We'll hit the start of the trail in Röstånga just after 18:00 and hike in the dark. A good light source is going to be **very** important here - please bring that. Headlamp recommended. As usual, you need to be self-supported: gear, nutrition, etc. And this time of year it's good to pay extra attention to the comfort temp rating of your sleeping bag and the R-Value of your sleeping pad. We'll pass by several water resupply options along the way, so you'll probably be OK with packing 2 liters of water, depending on personal preferences and needs. We may our may not find a shelter. It's not a sure thing, so please bring your tent, hammock, tarp - whichever you prefer. And it could be too wet for a campfire, so you probably don't want to rely too much on that for cooking. Saturday is a hike around Söderåsen National park, with some fun spots along the way, and we'll return to Röstånga mid to late afternoon - the trip back to CPH is around 2 hours. The weather this time of year can be a little rough, and it's usually wet and cold, so please make sure to dress accordingly and pack waterproof, especially your sleeping bag. Come join us for an afternoon run/jog/walk. Today is our Valentine's run. Some might celebrate carnival, vinter break, Fastalavn, but your harriettes have decided to arrange a Valentine's run for you. If you feel like it wear Valentine outfit as a fun gesture. We are not a typical running club, so please read about the concept in “about us”. How it works: we don’t know in advance where the trail will go, but we know it will be fun! A member of the club, the 'hare', sets a trail, usually marked with flour. The rest of us, the 'pack', follows the hare's 'scent', i.e., the marks. There will be a 8-10 km trail for runners with shortcuts down to 5-6 km for walkers and those who need a slower pace. We have no set pace - run/walk as slow or as fast as you'd like. After the run we enjoy some refreshments and socialize. Come a few minutes before the start so that you can say hi and leave your bag in a designated bag car before we set off at 14:30. **Abstract:** The Advanced Photon Source (APS) is an X-ray light source at Argonne National Laboratory where researchers perform imaging, diffraction and spectroscopy experiments at 68 specialized beamlines. APS recently completed a major upgrade that made it the brightest synchrotron in the world and upgraded many of the beamlines to take advantage of the dramatically brighter, more coherent beam. These new capabilities are increasing the facility’s raw data production from <10 PB/year before the upgrade to >100 PB/year once all instruments are back online. To meet this data challenge, the APS Beamline Data Pipeline project team is partnering with beamline staff to develop and deploy science data pipelines that use a common set of open-source software tools (many written in Python) to link instruments with the Polaris supercomputer at the Argonne Leadership Computing Facility (ALCF) for data processing. This talk will describe the APS data systems, our file-based and streaming pipeline templates, and some of the open-source software we use to extract scientific insights from beamline data. **Audience Takeaway:** Open source Python data acquisition and analysis tools are ubiquitous at the APS.
