đ⨠Topolinoâs Singles Pizza Night + St Kilda AfterâDark Adventureâ¨đ
đ **Topolinoâs** **Singles Pizza Night** + **St** **Kilda** **After**â**Dark** **Adventure**
**Date**: Saturday 27 June
**Time**: 6pm to 8pm (Pizza), optional nightlife voyage until late
**Ages** 35â55 | Singles only | No married or seperated people | New couples maybe⌠if theyâre very new
**Cost**: $0 Lucky you. It's an experiment so I'm looking for beta testers đ Pizza and Drinks are on you.
**Numbers**: 12 people, maybe more, depends on flaky people and no shows of course
**Menu: [https://www.topolinos.com.au/](https://www.topolinos.com.au/)**
**đ@@@@@ Event Update - Meeting Point**
Hi everyone, I've added a photo of our initial meeting point, it's at the 5th province Irish bar, right next to the St.Kilda tram stop. In the allley way next to the whiskey bar and the "Verandah". I'll be the tall guy wearing a red Santa cap, it's winter right?
We can have a quick drink at the bar to settle our nerves but I need to organise a sneaky way to grab a pizza with such a large number of people. So we need two groups. Please arrive before 6pm or thereabouts, it's hard to check my phone for messages during an event for late people etc. I'll wait outside until around 6.15
**Location**:
đŤ **The** **Vibe**
Think of this as a lightly flirty, gently mischievous IRL dating night â the kind where the pizza is hot, the banter is warm, and the chemistry is⌠well, thatâs up to you.
**Note**: This will be a light curated event, I won't pre organise anything so it will be a highly organic adventure, Expect some minor chaos. If Topolinos is busy we'll try another venue. Topolinos has a max of 12 people anyway without paying a ridiculous booking fee. But damn it's bloody good pizza. But if enough people are interested I'm sure we can sneakily get in a larger group if we split ourselves up and accidentally coalesce lol.
I prefer doing things this way anyway and leaving some things to chance....serendipity is my middle name of course!
**#####** **Just so you know**
=================
Saying that I do have some basic rules to govern how this event operates, Curated chaos anyone???.
**Note:** This event is waitlisted to allow an even mix of genders, there is a creep code and rules especially around no shows. Read on for how this works. Decisions are made at the discretion of the organiser.
Weâre taking over Topolinoâs Pizza on Fitzroy Street, St Kildaâs iconic preânightlife launchpad, for a cosy twoâhour dinner with 12 singles who know how to talk, laugh, and maybe flirt over a slice.
Singles only.
No married people.
New couples allowed only if they still have that âare we⌠something?â energy.
đ 6pmâ8pm â Topolinoâs Pizza Social
A relaxed, social dinner with 12 self handâpicked singles
Flirty but friendly, cheeky but respectful
Perfect for people who prefer IRL slowâdating over app fatigue
Expect conversation that flows easier than the house red
Dress warm â itâs winter, but the vibe wonât be
Waitlist is active to keep gender proportions balanced.
Regulars get preference (you know who you are).
Organiser discretion applies â always.
**đđ 8pm onwards âChoose** **Your** **Own** **St Kilda** **Adventure**
For those who want to keep the night rolling, weâll drift down Fitzroy Street like a charmingly disorganised flotilla of hopeful romantics.
Possible ports of call:
**The** **Espy** â iconic, loud, social, perfect for âaccidentalâ shoulder brushes
**The** **Vineyard** â mellow, intimate, ideal for deeper chats
**Dogs** **Bar** â artsy, dimly lit, excellent for eye contact
**Prince** **Bandroom** â for the brave, the nostalgic, and the 90sâalt tragics (cover charge applies)
Stay for one drink, stay for five, or stay until someone suggests karaoke â the night is yours.
đ **Flirtation** **Guidelines**
This is a social event, not a pressure cooker.Donât be pushy about phone numbers â let the moment offer itself
If the vibe is mutual, go for it
Become a regular â Iâll be testing this format over 3â4 events
Youâll likely see the same lovely humans again at future singles nights/events or Eat Drink Dance âopenâ events
The goal is to build a small, recurring ecosystem where people feel comfortable, familiar, and relaxed enough to be themselves.
**đĽWaitlist & Gender Ratios**
To keep things balanced and comfortable:
Event capped at max 12 people to test interest unless I decide to be sneaky,
Generally guys admitted only after a woman registers (to maintain ratios) at my discretion until the format matures. If you become a regular I'm not so discriminating as long as you behave yourself.
Women can be a little flaky (we love them anyway), so I may accept 1â2 extra
**đ§The Creep Code**
**A** refined social compass keeps the vibe safe, fun, and dramaâfree.
So: No married or seperated individuals or those already coupled up (generally)
No Tinder Swindlerâstyle minglers
**Guys**: **Please** **Take** **Special** **Note**
Must have a clear face photo (no sunglasses, no blurry shadows, no âmysterious man in witness protectionâ)
No wide shots taken from a distance where you can't be identified.
No yacht/car/jet flexing â if your profile screams âcryptoâadjacentâ, you will be gently declined. If you are declined, update your profile photo to something less creepy and more classy.
**Girls**: No restrictions â privacy and safety firstâ
â ď¸ **SMALL EVENT EXPECTATIONS â ď¸**
**đť** **No**â**Shows**
Noâshows block waitlisted people from attending and disrupt small-group events.
Remove yourself at least 24 hours before the event.
Noâshows will likely be removed and blocked from the group.
Lastâminute cancellations (âflakingâ) may also result in group removal, especially when there is a waitlist.
đ **Attending** **Without** **Being** **on** **the** **Going** **List**
This is a security issue.
**Do** **NOT** **turn** **up** **unannounced**.
If youâre not on the Going list and havenât arranged it with the organiser beforehand, you will be asked to leave. Event checkâins are performed.
**đąWhy** **This** **Event** **Exists**
A few people have asked me to run something for singles, and Meetup is already full of solo attendees. Dating apps feel like a minefield, and IRL conversations tend to be and are rare and sometimes awkward. So this is an experiment â a softâlaunch into a more human, more organic way of meeting people for singles..

Haruki Murakami, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, & Creative Writing
Welcome to the Melbourne Sci-Fi & Fantasy Meetup's first gathering for magic realism and creative writing! If you've read or are new to Haruki Murakami, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Susanna Clarke, please come along. And for writers, this is also a space to talk about the craft of writing (any genre, fiction and non-fiction). I hope to make this a regular monthly or fortnightly event at other locations around Melbourne when the weather is warmer. But it's winter, so we'll have our first meetup at the Mitre Tavern in the CBD. Easy to find, and we don't have to wait outside in the icy wind waiting for tables. Join us for a coffee or glass of wine that stops time, cats with secret names, and good conversation about the books we love. After the event, we can kick on at the Mitre or maybe stroll over to a nearby wine bar or restaurant to continue the socialising.
What to Bring:
Paper, pen, and a story to share. I'll be giving you all some small, fun writing exercises and we'll see where the day takes us.

Stalker
Based on the novel Roadside Picnic, it is NO picnic, but rather one of the masterpieces of world cinema. Andrei Tarkovsky's 1979 Soviet sci-fi classic, recounts the expedition of a writer and professor led by a mysterious guide called "The Stalker." to a futuristic wasteland called "The Zone." Dripping with existential dread, it continually presents strange occurrences that will have us debating the meaning of what we've just viewed right through the ending.
*Stalker* (1979) can be streamed for free on HBOMax, the Criterion Channel or Kanopy. It's also available for rent on Amazon Prime and AppleTV. The Columbus Library has two copies on disc.
