The Alt/Cult Winter Social
Isn't winter ghastly? It's freezing, dark and depressing and once the December holidays are out the way, there's nothing to look forward to. Well, almost nothing, because it's time for another Alt/Cult group social! Meet and/or greet new friends and old strangers as we talk about what Oscar movies we've seen, what festivals we have tickets for, how everyone else's holidays are better than ours and all the rest of the regular winter conversation.
After 2025's Zone 2 circuit, we're going for the Betsey Trottwood in Clerkenwell, because it's a great looking pub with a cool atmosphere and because I walked past there a couple of times recently and quite fancied an excuse to go back. See you there!

Enter The Shadows: Enter Eternity
In perpetuity, art speaks. In eternity, voices rise.
From the hushed stillness of a gothic gallery to the roar of symphonic metal, this night unfolds as a ritual of feminine empowerment.
The Evening’s Metamorphosis
7:00 PM – 9:00 PM \| "In Perpetuity" Art Exhibition\. Step into our Gothic Gallery for the Private View launch devoted to the collaboration of four artists whose work navigates the intersections of space\, time\, nature\, and the afterlife \- treating them not as fixed destinations\, but as overlapping states of becoming\.
9:30 PM – 1:00 AM \| "Enter The Shadows: Enter Eternity" Symphonic Metal Club Night\. As the night deepens\, the gallery transforms into a cathedral of sound\. The silence is shattered by the thunderous roar of Symphonic Metal and the soaring heights of operatic melodies\. From the epic scale of Nightwish to the power of Within Temptation\, we celebrate the "Queens of Metal"—icons of female empowerment and leadership who front the world’s most successful metal bands\.
A Legacy of Power
In honor of World Day of Social Justice, we leave the clichés of Valentine’s Day in the dust. This is a celebration of femininity, leadership, and unyielding power.
Experience a convergence of female-fronted operatic vocals, sweeping symphonies, and gothic vision beneath our venue's vaulted ceilings. This is not a fleeting moment; it is a living testament to space held and legacy forged in the dark.
At the helm of this movement is DJ Vespõra, our Symphonic Metal Majesty and the founder of Enter The Shadows; a trailblazer for women in the heavy metal scene. Based in the heart of London’s Docklands and now celebrating its ninth month, she has led the world's first and only Symphonic Metal club night, proving that the future of the genre is being forged by a female hand.
The Experience
Surround yourself with the grandeur of our historic theatre as history breathes and shadows dance. Whether you are drawn to the raw intensity of the riffs or the "eternal emotional turmoil" bleeding from the canvas, you are invited to witness a world where art fulfills its darkest intentions.
In this timeless space, the Symphonic Metal Queens reign supreme.

**Here's how it works:**
👋🏻 Register your interest by hitting attend on this MeetUp event, and join our [Whatsapp Group](https://chat.whatsapp.com/DlZIi2ui0zu8QC0L01RL2J) -Introduce yourself and specify the instrument you'd like to play.
🌈 We run on donations, so if you attend any events, please consider giving a small amount to [[buymeacoffee.com/](http://buymeacoffee.com/)]([https://mc.buymeacoffee.com/links/CyEbElChEGunBDUUJHHqcDFdjHHiezlKUDdZxxqxgCKnvfHFZnSwyAsPBHgJGIIAZZPKfaV/2876893?link=girlband](https://mc.buymeacoffee.com/links/CyEbElChEGunBDUUJHHqcDFdjHHiezlKUDdZxxqxgCKnvfHFZnSwyAsPBHgJGIIAZZPKfaV/2876893?link=girlband))\*\*[girlband ](https://mc.buymeacoffee.com/links/CyEbElChEGunBDUUJHHqcDFdjHHiezlKUDdZxxqxgCKnvfHFZnSwyAsPBHgJGIIAZZPKfaV/2876893?link=girlband)\*\*in order to keep us going. Gig & Drinks🙂🍻 @ Old Blue Last - All-Dayer

The best way I can describe it is like one member said to me:

It’s honestly the most fun we’ve had and I’m inviting everyone of you because something’s been happening for a while now and you just don’t know about it…It’s a Showcase of some of the Best London bands playing their music in London - and it’s also a MEETUP group, so you can watch the gig with a mix of regular members and newcomers. Feel free to come on your own or bring your friends and meet new people. Look for the ‘MEETUP SIGN’ or ask the Host on the Door when you arrive. It’s an awesome line-up and at one of the Top Venues in London - Great place for a beer, meet new people and see some amazing unsigned bands! 🔥🔥🚒🍻

LondonJamSessions x TAM MIC DROP (20 Second Chain) #31
I am proud to announce that we having our jam at the Temple Of Art & Music in Elephant & Castle!!
20 Second Chain:
A structured improvisation format where a musical “chain” unfolds organically, with each player responding to and building on what came before.
Lineup (on stage together):
- 2 guitarists
- 1 bass
- 1 drummer
- 1–2 singers
- 1 additional instrument (sax, trumpet, percussion, etc.)
How It Works:
1. All musicians on stage are assigned a number, which determines the playing order.
2. Playing order, a key (and available chords) is written on a whiteboard opposite the stage.
3. Number 1 begins alone with a simple idea for 20 seconds — leave space for others to build.
4. Every 20 seconds, the next numbered musician joins one at a time, layering something that complements what’s already happening.
5. Once everyone has entered and the full band is playing, the group improvises for 5 minutes, developing the groove — complexity and solos can grow naturally.
6. No on-stage planning — listen and respond in real time.
7. After the timer ends, the group rotates and a new chain begins.
The Temple Of Art and Music is a live music venue and bar in Elephant & Castle so I encourage anyone attending to bring friends as it will be great fun for them even if they are not playing.
The venue has a PA system, drum kit, mics and guitar/bass amps.
There is no guarantee that there will be cymbals or drum accessories with the drum kit at the venue. Drummers please being your own if you can.
Like all our other jams it will be a chance to jam with other musicians playing the music that you love in a gentle environment with no judgement and no pressure. This jam also uniquely gives the opportunity to play in front of a crowd!
Tickets are **£10 online** message us let us know what instrument you play and we will confirm if there is space and send you the Eventbrite link for the jam.
Please do not hesitate to contact me for more information about this jam and London Jam Sessions.
At London Jam Sessions we have an active community on WhatsApp where we all discuss the upcoming jams and future events. Everyone in the community is encouraged to ask questions and bring forward new ideas. Dm me and I can add you to our Whatsapp group.

WHAT IS CONTRA DANCING? Picture the Grand Ball scenes like you’ve seen in period films such as “Pride and Prejudice”, where the dancers are lined up in long lines, across from each other. That’s English Country Dancing, the predecessor of contra dancing. Now, add moves like “swing your partner” and “do-si-do,” like you’ve seen in square dancing. Set it to fabulous, high energy, live music with fiddles, guitars, percussion and more, alá “Riverdance.” Finally, set the whole scene down in the middle of Woodstock, with a hip, groovy atmosphere, a bit of tie-dye, and hints of counter-culture attitude. THAT’s Contra Dancing!
Wear cool and comfortable clothes (you will get warm) and clean shoes that won't mark up our nice wood floor.
Be sure to come for the beginner's lesson from 1:30 - 2:00, followed by dancing 2:00 - 430. All dances are taught; we will help you learn! Beginners always welcome, no need to bring a partner.

In this talk, we’ll walk through Google’s primary generative AI platforms: **Google AI Studio** and **Vertex AI**. We’ll explore what each tool is designed for and how developers typically begin their journey with Google’s AI ecosystem. Using **Google AI Studio**, we’ll demonstrate how you can experiment with Google’s **Gemini models** to create and test ideas, from text generation to image and video creation.
