Svenskt Mingel i Berlin (Meetup) #111
Svenskt Mingel i Berlin (Meetup) #111
Hej allihopa😀! Baptiste & Paula Foto: Henrik Trygg/imagebank.sweden.se

Calm and Clear - Buddhist Meditation in English
Calm and Clear - Buddhist Meditation in English
Meet like-minded people, get authentic meditation instructions and hang out in our beautiful Buddhist meditation center in the west of Berlin! The practice of meditation is a simple, yet profound practice that helps us to connect with ourselves and gives us tools to release experiences of distraction, agitation, and stress. In the Buddhist tradition, meditation is more than just a way to end the mind´s distraction - it is what helps us to bring our mind home to its true nature. What better way to experience the colourful facets of meditation than with a group of like-minded people? Hence our open meditation sessions always have a social element as well - we like to have a tea and share about our meditation experiences, or whatever else we want to explore. There is also always the chance to ask questions to our experienced meditation instructors. These sessions are held in English and open to everyone - complete beginners as well as those with more experience. The sessions are every week on Friday at 17:00-18:30.

Zeit für Deutsch - German Movie Screening + Language Practice 🇩🇪
Zeit für Deutsch - German Movie Screening + Language Practice 🇩🇪
Movie Lovers, ReSee and the Zeitgeist Zentrum are teaming up for another edition of Zeit für Deutsch, our monthly, donation-based movie event taking place at the Zeitgeist Zentrum Sprachschule in Wedding. At each event, we'll screen a different German language film and spend a little time before and after the movie chatting amongst each other, speaking as much or as little German as you'd like, and just coming together as a community for a relaxed, low-pressure movie night. This time around we're showing a classic German thriller taking place all around Berlin. It follows a woman named who needs to obtain 100.000 marks in 20 minutes to save the life of her boyfriend. You know the one - but if you've never seen it, now's your chance! • Doors open at 2:30pm • Film starts at 3pm • Guests are encouraged to stick around and speak a little German after, but there's no pressure. This is 95% fun, 5% German practice :) Space is limited, so grab a spot and mark your calendars. Donations are also welcome at the door. RSVP on Luma to reserve your spot: https://luma.com/6bswkqh1 We hope to see you there 💜
Let's Meet Up and Practice Languages
Let's Meet Up and Practice Languages
(Inside event) Are you learning a language but can't find people to practice with? Do you enjoy helping people speak your native language? If so, meet with us to make friends and have some good conversations. We begin by sharing the languages we speak fluently and the ones we are learning. Then we split into groups and speak! You can switch groups as often as you'd like. The goal is to speak about interesting, thought-provoking topics - not just the typical introductions we usually make. At our last meetups we spoke: German, Ukranian, English, French, Hebrew, Russian, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Hindi, Chinese, Greek, Japanese, Turkish, Polish, Swedish, Arabic, Norwegian, Icelandic, and Dutch. Can you help us make this list bigger? We hope to see you there and welcome ANY and ALL languages. (However, we cannot guarantee we will have a speaking partner for all languages). Looking forward to see you all! 😁
🌕Networking & Language Exchange - Lunar New Year Special!🐎
🌕Networking & Language Exchange - Lunar New Year Special!🐎
**Let's celebrate new year! You can come at any time!** 1.) 18:30 - 19:00: Gathering at the meeting spot. 2.) 19:00 - 19:30: Walk&Talk to Kerb foodcourt. 3.) 19:30 - 22:00: Dinner/Drinks at the Kerb foodcourt. 🪑: Reserved tables for the meetup (only approved members on the list!). 🍬: Free sweets for everyone on the attending list. ⚠️**Note:** ONLY approved members who signed up for this event are allowed to join, because the seats in the Kerb food court are limited. I'll make a reservation once I know the exact number of people joining! **1.) How to the find Quartier 205 Stadtmitte:** [https://goo.gl/maps/6Fhft3LbPhcEsQrdA](https://goo.gl/maps/6Fhft3LbPhcEsQrdA) The exact meeting spot can be seen in the photo below! We meet on the 1st floor where the trash sculpture can be seen. Look for a meetup sign or organizer wearing a black or red lanyard with "staff" written on it. **2.) Walk&Talk to Kerb:** The best part. In order to extend the walk we'll stroll all the way to Brandenburger gate and from there to the former Sony Center where we are going to enter the Kerb foodcourt. **3\. How to find the Manifesto Market** [https://goo.gl/maps/aSnChzLuE6akyP4F8](https://goo.gl/maps/aSnChzLuE6akyP4F8) The food hub is located in "The Playce". The new flagship shopping center of Potsdamer Platz. Most likely we will be upstairs on the first floor next to Kabuki. The first floor offers authentic Asian food from Korea, Japan and China: Bibimbap, ramen, sushi, sea food etc. The ground floor offers Syrian, Greek, Mexican and Argentinian cuisine, tasty Hamburgers, rolled ice creme and a beer tower! *Who is this meetup for:* 1\. Asians who want to practice German and/or English\. 2\. German speaking individuals who are studying \(preferably\) Japanese\, Korean\, Mandarin or Cantonese\. 3\. Anyone who is interested in cultural exchange and wants to socialize\. *What you can expect:* 1\. A professionally organized meetup that can adapt to any changes given the current situation\. 2\. A Walk & Talk to break the ice\. 3\. A collaborating venue where you can further socialize with other members\. *** Whenever you attend a meetup, the most common as well as first question you get is: "Where are you from?" You probably heard this question a million times. Well, at least I did. From my own experience of attending over 200 international meetups in various countries such as Germany, Japan, Australia and Thailand, I can tell you that asking for the name is a better approach. “A person’s name is to that person, the sweetest, most important sound in any language.” - Dale Carnegie If you really want to connect with like-minded people you should remember their name, but you don't have to remember every persons name you've talked you. Be picky about that, don't be me who can somehow remember everyones name easily. Don't tell yourself sth. like "I'm bad at remembering names." It's all about developing the habit of asking for a name and keep the conversation going on. Furthermore, you want to learn German or any other language. Learning the local language is crucial to connect with the locals and developing a true friendship. This can be accomplished with immersion. My goal is to inspire you to go out of your comfort zone and improve yourself each time you join this meetup.
