Bigger, Better, Bolder Miss Bachata & Miss Salsa
**Welcome to Miss Bachata & Miss Salsa!**
As the winter season wraps our city in its gentle sparkle, our community shines even brighter. This time of year reminds us how meaningful it feels to step into a space filled with warmth, laughter, music, and friendly faces—exactly the kind of energy we create together every Monday. While the world outside cools down, our dance floor becomes a cozy haven of joy, connection, and beautifully shared moments. Every Monday feels like a touch of winter magic… only with a whole lot more rhythm.
My objective has always been to create a different kind of social gathering—one that is open, non-judgmental, non-salacious, and safe. A place where you can meet people just like you, where socializing and dancing come together to help build community and tear down the walls that separate us. Here, we make new friends, feel a sense of belonging, and enjoy the calmness that comes from knowing we are in a safe and welcoming space.
Many times, I have been asked, “Why host an event on Monday night?” Many people escape on the weekend and dread Mondays when they return to work. I believe that if you dance and socialize on a Monday, you infuse your week with joy and positive energy, giving your life balance and helping you face your challenges with enthusiasm and confidence.
We’re also thrilled to announce that our trial of advanced Bachata lessons, which began last September, has been a resounding success! Building on this momentum, we’re excited to offer an enhanced schedule for 2025. Our dance evenings will now feature three hours of classes: one hour of beginner to intermediate Bachata, one hour of advanced Bachata, and one hour of beginner to intermediate Salsa. As always, the entrance fee remains $15 for a night of 2 lessons and social dancing. For those interested in the advanced Bachata lessons, there will be an additional $5 fee.
Here’s our updated schedule:
**Miss Bachata – Main Ballroom**
❄️ 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm: Beginner to Intermediate Bachata Lesson (No partner required)
❄️ 8:00 pm – 12:00 am: Social Dancing
**Miss Salsa – Round Room**
❄️ 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm: Advanced Bachata Lesson (+$5) NEW
❄️ 8:00 pm – 9:00 pm: Beginner to Intermediate Salsa Lesson
❄️ 9:00 pm – 12:00 am: Social Dancing
**Additional Details:**
❄️ Free Parking
❄️ Full Bar (Free Water, Beer: $5.75)
Over the past decade, organizing Latin dancing events in Mississauga has been a labor of love. Our mission has always been to foster a sense of community, proving that the connections we share are far stronger than the differences that divide us.
Loneliness is a growing concern, with over half of U.S. adults and many Canadians experiencing its effects. The COVID-19 pandemic has only heightened this issue. Harvard University's long-term study on happiness, which began in 1938, highlights the detrimental impact of loneliness on health. People with strong social connections experience slower mental and physical decline and greater overall happiness compared to those who are isolated.
Here are some key findings from the study:
• Close ties help delay mental and physical decline more than money, fame, social class, IQ, or genetics.
• Relationship satisfaction is a better predictor of aging well than cholesterol levels in middle age.
• A strong sense of community improves memory function.
• Loneliness can be as harmful to health as smoking or alcoholism.
There’s hope! Strengthening our relationships and supporting community initiatives can build healthier, happier lives. Miss Bachata & Miss Salsa provides a wonderful opportunity to make new friends, expand your social circle, and enjoy a safe, welcoming, authentic environment. Bring your open heart and a smile, and we’ll take care of the rest.
**Cheers to building an authentic, joyful, and connected community!**

✨🌙 EXPLORE LUMIÈRE: THE ART OF LIGHT 🌙✨
✨🌙 **EXPLORE LUMIÈRE: THE ART OF LIGHT** 🌙✨
An Outdoor Night Walk of Light, Art & Waterfront Vibes
Let’s go chase some light.
Join us for **Lumière: The Art of Light** (formerly the Winter Light Exhibition) in its beautiful new home at **Trillium Park**.
This free outdoor exhibition transforms the park into an illuminated art experience, featuring works by Ontario artists who use light, innovation, and creativity to reimagine public space. This year’s curatorial theme is *“Renewal”* — celebrating the shift from winter into spring, longer days, and that subtle feeling that something new is beginning.
There’s something magical about walking by the water at night, surrounded by glowing installations and good company. It’s reflective. It’s playful. It’s very Toronto.
👉 **Don’t forget to join our WhatsApp group** – [CLICK HERE!](https://chat.whatsapp.com/H59mSCbsAi018gYANrKAnc?mode=ac_t)

🌉 The Plan
We’ll meet at the iconic **Princes' Gates**, then walk together over to Trillium Park.
We’ll spend about an hour exploring the installations at a relaxed pace — taking photos, chatting, and soaking it in.
Afterward, we’ll continue the evening with food and drinks by the waterfront. Most likely we’ll head to **Shoeless Joe's Sports Grill** along Queens Quay. We’ll hop on the TTC streetcar for a few stops to get there.
Art first. Social second. Best of both worlds.
\*\*\*
🧥 What to Bring
This is an outdoor nighttime event — please dress properly.

🌳☕ ST. CLAIR WEST VILLAGE WALK, WYCHWOOD PARK & COFFEE ☕🌳
🌳☕ **ST. CLAIR WEST VILLAGE WALK, WYCHWOOD PARK & COFFEE** ☕🌳
Hidden Streets, Storybook Homes & A Cozy Café Finish
Some parts of Toronto feel like you’ve accidentally stepped into another world.
Join us for a relaxed social walk through **St. Clair West**, leading into the quietly tucked-away and exclusive **Wychwood Park** — one of the city’s most unique residential enclaves.
Wychwood Park is private, residential, and unlike anywhere else in Toronto. The homes are all architecturally distinct — no cookie-cutter builds here — and living there involves a waiting list, a board approval process, and community guidelines that preserve its character. It feels almost village-like… peaceful, artistic, and slightly secret.
This is not a formal historical tour.
It’s a social walk with beautiful surroundings and good conversation.

🚶♂️ **What We’ll Do**
We’ll begin by walking west along St. Clair, enjoying the neighbourhood energy before heading into Wychwood Park for a gentle wander through its winding streets.
Afterward, we’ll make a short stop at **Artscape Wychwood Barns** to peek into the market space, next we make a quick stop at Mr. Binz where everything starts at $25 and after we will head to **Bakery Garden Cafe** for a warm drink and time to sit, chat, and connect.
Sometimes the best part of the walk is the pause at the end. ☕
We’ll eventually make our way back toward St. Clair Subway Station.
You’re welcome to leave at any time.
\*\*\*
❄️ **Weather & Expectations**
Please do not sign up if you’re not ready to walk in real winter conditions. This event will happen in snow, cold, or typical Toronto winter weather.
The only exception: if temperatures reach -20°C, the event will be canceled.
Bundle up. Dress properly. This is a winter walk.
Also — this is NOT a historical tour. I’ll share context casually, but the focus is social connection and enjoying the neighbourhood.

Coming Out, Being Out - Peer Discussion (Weekly)
**Description**
Coming Out Being Out (COBO) is a peer discussion group that has served the LGBT community for over 15 years in downtown Toronto. We meet to share stories and opinions, challenges and triumphs at all stages of coming out and being out.

* Develop comfort in discussing their identity with others.
* Meet others having the same experiences when it comes to living openly.
* Receive the encouragement of peers.
\|\-\| Regular topics of discussion include:
* How people choose to come out (at work, with family, with friends).
* Where to find others like us in the community.
* Challenges and triumphs in navigating family and partner relationships.
**Where & When**
* Every Wednesday from 6-8pm
* Community meeting space at Casey House - 119 Isabella St., Toronto

Spring Flex Season
**How does a TennisColumbus Season / League run?**
The league advertises the season dates and builds a queue of committed players for the season.
**Kickoff Day - March 26th**
The start day of the season, players are sent a kickoff email that contains important information about the league, the link where your league standings and players contact information. We guarantee 6 playing partners at your playing level, but have been averaging closer to 15+ partners in most cities. The number of different levels we run is solely based upon the number of players enrolled for the league kickoff. Typically we are running a Skilled-3.0, Competitive-3.5 and Advanced-4.0 in most cities.
**Your Task - "Flexible Scheduling"**
After this kickoff email is sent, it is the **player's task to communicate with other players**. Players should work with their partners to find an agreeable time and location to play the match. While TennisColumbus doesn't mandate your playing schedule, it is recommended that players schedule at least one match per week. By request of the players, we started to allow players to play 1 rematch per season. The regular season is all about playing as much as you can. As of Feb. 10, 2026 we've had an amazing 2,017 players play more than [20 matches in a season](https://www.tenniscolumbus.com/info/MatchesInSeason).
**Where to Play?**
Play at your local free tennis courts, tennis parks, condo courts or tennis clubs. The league strongly suggests that players jointly try to pick a tennis court location convenient to both. We provide an extensive list of [tennis courts](https://www.tenniscolumbus.com/TennisCourts), including # of courts, lighting, hitting walls, etc. We strive to keep this list up-to-date.
TennisColumbus sets up a must play dates to push players out on the courts. The final deadline is the date marking the end of the season, at which point players with 3-5 wins (Actually total is specified on the division page) will qualify for a post-season playoff to determine the league champion.
**How to Play?**
Players can use three mostly standard playing formats: 2 out of 3 sets, 2 sets with 10 point super tie-breaker or the 10-game pro set (First to 10, used when court time is limited). On Feb. 2018, we added Fast Tennis 4 game pro set format as a valid format.
**Playoffs**
Each season concludes with a playoffs where players with anywhere from 3 to 5 season wins qualifies for a single elimination tourney. The champion is awarded based upon the league [Prize Pool](https://www.tenniscolumbus.com/info/prize_pool3). Each singles league champion also receives a playing entry into one of two national championships we run.
**[JOIN TODAY](https://www.tenniscolumbus.com/join)**
Full price is $39.95 to play in a season. The earlier you sign up we typically offer discounts during these tough economic times. Just go to the [Join Page](https://www.tenniscolumbus.com/join) and complete the short form. We'd be happy to find you dedicated tennis playing partners.
Speak Easy (Storytelling)
The topic for March is "Our Bodies, Ourselves"
Speak Easy: true stories, told live.
The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast.
Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect.
The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. We strongly encourage tellers to please tell the story rather than read it so we keep within the spirit of good storytelling and stay engaged with the audience. All are welcome. Hang around after the show for a drink and build community!
