If you love anime & manga then please join us for our weekly meetups, where we basically just sit, chat and read anime & manga! We usually sit in the back of the pub. If the weather is nice we may sit outside at the back of the pub, or even outside on the downstairs floor. In this meetup, you can BYOM (bring your own manga) or read one from the selection we will bring. See this as an opportunity to discover, recommend or simply enjoy Japanese comics & anime with like-minded people! Note: This is not a book club. Also, the TCR bar is kind enough to allow us to use their space to host this meetup, and has asked if possible for attendees to support the venue by purchasing a drink or food while you're there. This is just a studio session, with no Zoom. We will have a life model in the same pose for three hours in the afternoon, usually for two consecutive weeks. This is an untutored session run by a professional painter who will always be happy to give advice. Other than model breaks, usually every 25 minutes, we break for tea and cake at 3.30pm for twenty minutes. Our studio is divided up into workstations or ‘positions’ and whilst each position has a good view of the model many artists prefer to be front and centre. (Actually, you often get a more interesting composition to the side of the room). You can also just turn up at the studio on spec and find a place to paint. **Chris Corcoran** continues his monthly series of masterclasses at Ain't Nothin' but the Blues in Soho. This month he's joined by our friend **Artie Zaitz** to look at bringing some "outside" sounds into your blues and jazz playing.. I've been a regular at Chris's masterclasses over the last couple of years. He's a great player and teacher. If you're interested in the music of Charlie Christian, Barney Kessel, T-Bone Walker and Tiny Grimes, you'll enjoy Chris's style. **Chris Corcoran** is one of the UK's finest exponent of the early swing, jump blues and R&B guitar styles, and has been performing across the British Isles and Europe for the last 20 years. We have a life model in a single pose for **three hours**. Usually **the same pose is repeated the following week so that you can give six hours** to your work, remember to book the same position for both weeks. The session is not formally tutored although all of our sessions are run by artists and advice is always available, just ask – otherwise you will be left to get on by yourself. Our studio is purpose built and well equipped with easels, drawing boards, clips and so on. We sell materials at reasonable prices so if you forget anything we should be able to help you out. We have professional lighting for the models and and full spectrum lights for the studio to give you a good experience. Accessible-format life drawing and portrait session with a range of poses from 2 minute tutor-led warm up exercises to 15 mins in the first half of the class with general tips and tuition. In the second half, a long portrait pose of 35-40 mins with a demo/draw-along led by tutor Rod who will show and talk through the process of drawing a portrait in front of the class.
