Philosophy Seminar: Analytical Idealism
**What if consciousness isnât something the brain produces â but something the universe is?**
Most of us have absorbed a picture of reality in which matter comes first: the brain generates mind, and when the brain stops, the mind vanishes. It feels like common sense. But a growing number of analytic philosophers and scientists are asking whether that picture can actually hold together â and **whether idealism, the view that consciousness is fundamental to reality, deserves a serious second look**.
**Analytical Idealism is not mysticism in disguise. Itâs a rigorous, philosophically precise position that engages directly with the hard problem of consciousness, the findings of modern physics, and the limits of materialist explanation**. It takes the tools of analytic philosophy seriously â and uses them to challenge one of our deepest assumptions about what exists.
In this session, weâll explore:
⢠Why materialism struggles to account for the existence of subjective experience
⢠What Analytical Idealism actually claims â and what it doesnât
⢠What it might mean, practically and existentially, if mind is primary
No prior background in philosophy is needed. Weâll build up the ideas together, and the emphasis will be on genuine inquiry rather than expertise.
About the host: Corrado Alesso is a software engineer working across mobility, big data, security, and energy â and, more recently, a newly-minted carpenter. When heâs not chasing his interests in electronics, astrophotography, or music, he reads philosophy â particularly metaphysics (to peek behind the veil), philosophy of mind (canât wrap my head around the C-problem) and ontology (so that I can drop this word at parties). It started with a suspicion that blaming consciousness on complexity feels a bit cheap. That suspicion led him to Analytical Idealism, which he finds deeply grounded â and, uncomfortably, quite convincing. Heâs looking forward to dissecting it together.

Does self-improvement have an end or it is a never-ending process?
At the group's first meetup, we will informally discuss whether self-improvement has an end or is a never-ending process.
To inspire the discussion, I selected two short blog posts with opposing perspectives.
The [first post](https://markmanson.net/self-improvement#:~:text=There%27s%20a%20paradox%20with,the%20need%20to%20improve%20yourself.) is by Mark Manson, the author of *The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F#ck*. He argues that:
â*Thereâs a paradox with self-improvement (...): the ultimate goal of all self-improvement is to reach the point where you no longer feel the need to improve yourself (âŚ). The whole goal of improving your productivity is to reach the point where you never have to think about how to be more productive. The whole point of pursuing happiness is to reach the point where one no longer has to think about being happy. (âŚ)*
*The only way to truly achieve oneâs potential, to become fully fulfilled, or to become âself-actualizedâ (âŚ), is to, at some point, stop trying to be all of those things.â*
The [second post](https://maartenvandoorn.medium.com/self-improvement-doesnt-have-an-end-it-is-the-end-6bbb3247ff6f) is by Maarten van Doorn, who wrote it as a reply to Mark Mansonâs post. Van Doorn argues that self-improvement doesnât have an end because it is an end in itself:
*ââThe paradox of self-improvementâ, as Mark calls it, is not that self-improvement, despite appearances, has as its ultimate goal something thatâs âin your headâ. No, the true paradox of self-improvement is that itâs perhaps the only kind of improvement that is not done for the sake of whatever it is being improved, but for its own sake.*
*Self-improvement has intrinsic value and, in contrast to productivity, becoming better and exercising skills are essential components of what makes life worth living (âŚ)*
*Personal growth shouldnât be thought of as a band-aid to fix something. Thatâs not what itâs for. What itâs for, is to prevent you from settling for eternal boredom â and your life from going by unnoticed*.â
What do you think?
**Reading the posts beforehand is optional** â Just in case you want to read them, here are the links:
* â[What is self-improvementâ by Mark Manson](https://markmanson.net/self-improvement#:~:text=There%27s%20a%20paradox%20with,the%20need%20to%20improve%20yourself.).
* â[Self-improvement doesnât have an end, it is the endâ by Maarten van Doorn](https://maartenvandoorn.medium.com/self-improvement-doesnt-have-an-end-it-is-the-end-6bbb3247ff6f)
We will also have time to talk about ourselves and brainstorm ideas for next meetups.
See you soon.

Identity & Consciousness - Open Space for Spiritual Discussions
Hi. I would like to set up the first event. This is a space and opportunity to discuss all the things spiritual in a relaxed manner.
It is a space where our discussions should bring you joy without any sense of obligation to participate if you don't feel like it. After all bringing just your presence is no small task :)
And it's one of the most important things in raising your state of consciousness :)
As this is the first meeting it could just be a lightweight conversation or if you feel like we can dive in into more serious fundamental topics. It depends on what are you interested in. It could be:
* where are we on the Map of Consciousness (different paradigms)
* the nature of our 3D physical reality
* nervous system regulation
* Biocentrism
etc. There's a lot we can talk about and everyone of us has a different level of knowledge and is at a different stage of awareness.
Feel free to join and see you there,
Daniel
SRF group: First meeting
This will be a simple first meeting for anyone in Prague who feels connected to Paramahansa Yogananda, SRF, Kriya Yoga, meditation, or sincere spiritual practice.
We will meet casually for tea or coffee, introduce ourselves, and talk about what kind of informal circle would be helpful here in Prague. There is no pressure, no formal structure, and no expectation that anyone needs to be advanced or experienced.
I am a relatively new SRF student myself, so this is not a teaching group. It is simply an attempt to create a friendly space for spiritual community.
Everyone is welcome: SRF students, readers of Yogananda, meditators, curious beginners, international residents, Czech locals, and sincere seekers from any background.
The goal is simply to meet peacefully and see whether there is interest in continuing.
Event will be held in English.
Location is to be decided upon depending on the amount of people who will show interest.
**Please note:** To respect SRF guidelines, we will not share or discuss private SRF Lessons material, and we will not teach SRF meditation techniques. Anyone curious about SRF practice will be warmly directed to the official SRF Lessons and resources.

Free In-person Meeting: Unwanted Emotions & Loneliness, How to Get Over Them
This is an in-person meeting.
Did you know that unwanted emotions like loneliness, sadness, hopelessness, anger, fear, anxiety, or feelings of irritation donât just fall on you for no reason. They are not random occurrences that simply happen to people's minds. They are definitely not chemical imbalance in your brain due to some nebulous chemical reactions by chance.
Your negative emotions are the symptoms of the painful experiences that you have which are not healed, and which are still affecting you.
The effects of these painful experiences are exacerbated by the pressures or difficulties of the other problems in your life.
For instance, let's say you are already carrying a huge load on your back, then you cannot take on much more, but, let's say something else happens to you, such as the difficulties from the Pandemic, then the resultant combined weight on you can take you over the edge, kind of like the straw that break the camel's back. When this happens, people's attention usually goes to the straw that was added, but actually the majority of the weight had come from the huge load that were already there, holding a person down and causing a person issues.
So how do you remove the huge load that was already there? How do you lighten them up? Is it possible to get rid of them?
That is what this meeting will be all about.
Come to our Meetup, where we can introduce you to some of the knowledge, tools and techniques of the breakthroughs in the field of the mind that we can apply to this ever important area of life.

Want to Truly Heal from Emotional Trauma?
Why are we unhappy? Where does emotional pain come from? Studies show that people who suffer from long-term emotional pain have painful experiences in their lives that were never fully resolved in their mind. In other words, there were issues in the past that were not completely dealt with. This can include abuse in childhood, breakups, divorce, death of a loved one, to name a few.
How do you know whether you have gotten over something painful? Here is an easy test: Do you still have attention on what had happened to you? For instance, do you still find yourself thinking about something painful that you went through? If you are, then you are not over it. In fact, in severe cases, people find themselves playing a "tape" in their mind over and over again.
So how do you heal from your past? How do you stop the "tape" playing in your mind? In this meeting, you will learn a technique to help you with that.
Come join us! Be sure to click on the red "Attend" button below to come to this local event. We look forward to seeing you there.

How to Take Control of YOUR Mental Health
Itâs time to take control of your mental health. How do you get rid of stress, anxiety and uncertainty? These emotions are buried deep in your reactive mind.
Find out what the reactive mind is, and in the process find yourself.
Here is the secret of being positive and free:
Thinking positively is not enough.
You also have to get rid of the negative thinking.
Your mind is like a garden.
You can plant many beautiful flowers in it, but if you don't get rid of the weeds when you plant your flowers, the weeds will soon take over the whole garden.
A positive thought is like a flower in your mental garden, and a negative thought is like a weed.
You cannot expect to have a positive mindset if you continue to have negative thoughts dwelling and growing there.
So, how do you get rid of the negative thoughts? That's what this Meetup is all about. Attend this local meeting and find out!
The Meetup event will be led by a consultant who had helped many people live happier in life.

Free In-Person Events: How to Let Go of the Past and Move Forward
The emotional pain from past bad experiences easily lingers in the present, making it hard to enjoy life and create your future. Even when you think you've moved on, the negative emotions can be triggered, sending you back into the pain of that experience.
And we are talking about pain; emotions such as grief, depression, anxiety, fear (or terror), boiling anger, simmering resentment, feelings of shame, blaming and regret can leave you incapacitated to a greater or lesser degree.
In this local event we will be discussing the reasons why these past bad experiences have the power to affect you long after they occurred. We'll go over why the emotional pain can be so strong. We'll also discuss some simple solutions to overcome your emotional pain and be free to fully enjoy your life again.
Examples of painful experiences include:
* A broken relationship or divorce.
* Death or loss of a loved one.
* Death of a pet.
* A sudden shock or bad news.
* A betrayal.
* Being part of an abusive relationship.
* A bad injustice.
* Loss of a job, position or business.
* A grave illness or injury.
The negative emotions from these experiences don't just go away on their own. But the good news is there is a way to clear them out of your way.
Be sure to click on the red "Attend" button below to come to this local event. We look forward to seeing you there.
