HIGHTLIGHTS: * Remote heathland and picturesque lakes in pine & bracken forests * Bagmoor Common Nature Reserve with oak trees and Scots pine trees * Thursley Common Nature Reserve and Pudmore Pond with its diverse wildlife, boggy terrain and raised boardwalks * Views over Devils Punchbowl and Gilbert Hill * Greensand Way with fantastic views on our way to Haslemere. The area offers walking trails through marsh, woodland, and heath, through some muddy paths over a eerie terrain preserving delicate ecosystems. We will be walking over sandy paths through ancient established woodlands, heather and gorse and see evidence of bush fire in 2006 which has left a blackened moonscape. We then continue south up to Devils Punchbowl, a deep depression believed to be the result of erosion caused by spring water beneath the sandstone, causing the upper level to collapse. We continue on our way to Hindhead and Haslemere along the Greensand Way to end up in a pub for a deserved drink.
