This is part of the British Academy's series of the Age of Self: "What do the characters on our screens and stages reveal about masculinity today? How do cultural narratives shape and challenge ideas of boyhood and manhood? And what stories should be told next? Join leading researchers and creatives for a richly illustrated discussion on the theme of masculinity in film, television and theatre. Drawing on vivid examples and clips, film historian Professor Stella Bruzzi FBA, award-winning playwright Inua Ellams, and British Academy-funded researcher Dr Rob Lawson will examine different portrayals of masculinity, how cultural representations have evolved over time and what stories we need to tell to help boys and men flourish in a changing world."

Join us to read through a play, script in hand. You don't need to memorise any lines, but you'll get the chance to read, and bring as much character and performance to your reading as you like. You don't have to read aloud if you don't want to, and there's no expectation of ability - we're an encouraging, good-natured group! Script Reading, Improvisation, Voice Projection, Games, Public Speaking and audition techniques will be some of the points covered over the coming terms. Drama is ideal for building confidence, helping with articulation and developing presentation skills. It is also a lot of fun! The classes have built up over the last five years and are run by Mario Renzullo, who was an original member of the famed Anna Scher Theatre and made his professional debut in 1970, and went on to have many lead TV, film and theatre roles. Mario founded the theatrical agency Smart Management, which has been running for over twenty years. The classes are open to a wide age range and welcome those new to acting as well as those with professional acting experience. Acoustic music, poetry and storytelling. Soul Fuel Sunday is a monthly gathering of poets, storytellers and songwriters held at Rosslyn Hill Unitarian Chapel. Following our critically acclaimed productions of OTHELLO, MACBETH and TWELFTH NIGHT the Acting gymnasium's Saturday workshop returns to Theatre Deli on Saturday 28th March with a new imagining of Shakepeare's CORIOLANUS. Plenty of superb roles available!! Set in a post-apocalyptic landscape, Coriolanus, a fierce and proud Roman general, earns fame after defeating Rome’s enemies, especially at Corioli. Despite his military success, he despises the common people and refuses to flatter them for political gain. Urged to seek public office, his arrogance alienates citizens, leading to his banishment. In anger, he allies with his former enemy Aufidius and marches against Rome. As destruction looms, his mother, Volumnia, pleads with him to spare the city. Moved by her words, he relents, choosing honor over revenge. His decision saves Rome but seals his fate, as he is killed for betraying his allies in return. A small, relaxed creative space in Primrose Hill to slow down, express, connect and reset before the week ahead. This isn’t a taught class, and there’s no pressure to be “good” at art. It’s simply a quiet, non-judgemental environment where you can draw, paint, journal, or create in whatever way feels natural. You’re welcome to sit quietly and focus on your own work, or chat with others if you feel like it. Some materials will be available, but feel free to bring your own. The Alliance is part of the Greater Central Ohio Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. We are an all-voices chorus dedicated to providing an inclusive environment for all those who love to sing, regardless of their race, gender identity, sexual orientation or musical background. The Alliance is the first and only all-voices barbershop chorus in Central Ohio. **Who:** Anyone with a passion for singing at a high level. The topic for April is "Water" Speak Easy: true stories, told live. The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast. Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect. The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. This month we're going to be doing a panel with with digital image, music, and written word artists, talking about at what point, while using AI in the creation process, does the work become not the artist creation?
