From the northern end we pass one of these greens before delving into a landscape of rolling chalk downland, with its patchwork of pastures, hedgerows and ancient woodland. At the southern end of Meopham we pause at the second green to admire **Killick’s Windmill**, a rare 19th-century smock mill, and to take in the traditional village atmosphere — perhaps even a cricket match on the green. (Michael Gambon, of Dumbledore fame, also lived here.) From here our route leads into quiet **North Downs valleys**, where wildlife thrives and chalk grasslands give way to pockets of shady woodland. The trail takes us through the charming old town of **Cobham**, rich in heritage, before we enter **Camer Park**, a former estate with sweeping meadows and centuries-old trees. Our hike concludes in the hamlet of **Sole Street**, after a day immersed in the timeless Kent countryside of meadows, woods and historic villages. 🧭 **Guide:** • Leader: [KEVIN](https://www.outdooraholics.co.uk/MeetTheOutdooraholics.pdf) • Contact (hike day only): 07918 329854 🍽️ **Food:** • Bring a packed lunch • Pub visit after the hike (drinks optional) 🎒**What to Bring** • Hiking boots/shoes • Water (2 litres minimum) • Packed lunch • Waterproofs (jacket and trousers) • Hat and gloves if cold • Train tickets are arranged – just meet us at the meeting point ⚠️ **Safety** Your guide is a trained hike leader and Outdoor Activity First Aider ❓ **Want to Know More?** • [New to Our Trips?](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/new_to_our_day_hikes.pdf) (perfect for first-timers, answers “what to expect”) • [About Us](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/about_us.pdf) (who Outdooraholics are, credibility, history) • [FAQs](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/FAQ.pdf) (covers common queries) 📲 **Explore More &** **Stay Connected** [Day hikes list](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/hikesbygrade.pdf) 👣 [Calendar - All trips](https://www.meetup.com/outdooraholics/events/calendar/) 📖 [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/outdooraholics/) 📸 [Facebook page](https://www.facebook.com/Outdooraholics) & [Photos group](https://www.facebook.com/groups/Outdooraholics) 📄 **Terms and Conditions** By signing up or attending you agree to our [Terms and Conditions](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/TermsConditionsOutdooraholicsHikingUK.pdf) © Outdooraholics Hiking UK Ltd 2025 E & OE

Milford to Haslemere- Surrey's heathland, quaint villages & Devils Punchbowl
HIGHTLIGHTS: * Remote heathland and picturesque lakes in pine & bracken forests * Bagmoor Common Nature Reserve with oak trees and Scots pine trees * Thursley Common Nature Reserve and Pudmore Pond with its diverse wildlife, boggy terrain and raised boardwalks * Views over Devils Punchbowl and Gilbert Hill * Greensand Way with fantastic views on our way to Haslemere. The area offers walking trails through marsh, woodland, and heath, through some muddy paths over a eerie terrain preserving delicate ecosystems. We will be walking over sandy paths through ancient established woodlands, heather and gorse and see evidence of bush fire in 2006 which has left a blackened moonscape. We then continue south up to Devils Punchbowl, a deep depression believed to be the result of erosion caused by spring water beneath the sandstone, causing the upper level to collapse. We continue on our way to Hindhead and Haslemere along the Greensand Way to end up in a pub for a deserved drink. The GREAT LOST RAILWAY JOURNEY - £5 🌱🌲🌿WALK.
An interesting £5 GREEN WALK along the route of a long forgotten railway commuter line in North London. STRENGTHEN NEW FRIENDSHIPS IN A PUB SOCIAL AFTER THE WALK. Forgotten Railways, Overgrown Platforms and Phantom Stations are the theme for today's walk. Today we visit a timewarp of days long gone as we retrace the route of one of London's great lost railway journeys of North London **WALK START: Meeting at MANOR HOUSE station (Zone 2/3 - Piccadilly Line).** When you arrive at the start look for Ken with the 'KEN'S EVENTS' Meetup Badge. If you are running a few minutes late, don't worry, we usually wait a short time for latecomers. If you are more than 15 mins late you will have to catch us up. Head inside Finsbury Park and up to the cafe on top of the hill. WALK ROUTE: Starting at Manor House we will enter the enormous green space of Finsbury Park. Upon leaving Finsbury Park we will commence our walk tracing the route of a railway that once ran to Alexandra Palace via Highgate and is now London's longest Local Nature Reserve which supports a remarkable range of habitats and wildlife. Hedgehogs, foxes, butterflies and a vast array of birds are spotted on a daily basis. We end this walk at Muswell Hill. WALK FINISH and PUB SOCIAL: We end this walk at Muswell Hill. (in the Mossy Well pub) which is a short bus ride or about 15/20 mins walk to East Finchley or Highgate Tube Stations (Northern Line). (Zone 3). Several buses can be caught from outside the pub. WALK DISTANCE: Approx 5.5 miles. Small gradients. RAIN POLICY - If the weather is very wet, we may curtail or postpone the walk, therefore please check this page on the day. Light rain is not usually a problem. Please note that the walk will be continuous with no stops and it is your responsibilty to keep walkers ahead in view and to follow the direction of the walk. **COST of EVENT**: **All of the walks on this group are only £5 each to attend. Payment is not collected before the day of the event to allow you maximum flexibility. Poetry London Social at the South Bank Centre
Poetry London Social at the South Bank Centre
This event is a **poetry social**, a chance to meet poets and share your poetry and poetry thoughts informally. Please be aware this is not our regular session of around the table poetry sharing, but a **chance to chat and connect with other London poets**. That said, you are of course welcome to read and perform your poetry for those who want to hear it. Just be aware there can be some background noise in the area where we meet. There will be some tables and chairs set up for us **outside the poetry library on the fifth floor**. Coffee and tea are available in the cafe on the ground floor. Also be aware there may be some external noise from the nearby children's library and south bank centre members attending events. If you have not attended our group before, please introduce yourself to David, the organiser. This session is right next to the poetry library, so a perfect opportunity to browse and share published poetry with others as well. Make sure to be quiet when inside and using the library.

In-Person Event: The Answers to Depression & Anxiety
In-Person Event: The Answers to Depression & Anxiety
This is an in-person meeting. At this meeting you will get answers to depression and anxiety. Find out the source of them and how to get rid of them. Did you know that unwanted emotions like anxiety, depression, unhappiness, loneliness, hopelessness, anger, fear, or feelings of irritation don’t just fall on you for no reason. They are not random occurrences that simply happen to people's minds. They are definitely not due to a chemical imbalance in your brain from some nebulous chemical reaction "by chance". Your negative emotions are the symptoms of the painful experiences that you have which are not healed, and which are still affecting you. The effects of these painful experiences are exacerbated by the pressures or difficulties of the other problems in your life. Come to our Meetup, where we can introduce you to some of the knowledge, tools and techniques of the breakthroughs in the field of the mind that we can apply to this ever important area of life. Be sure to click on the red "Attend" button below to come to this local event. We look forward to seeing you there. This group is created by the Hubbard Dianetics Foundation of Central Ohio and Church of Scientology of Central Ohio.
