Howling Bells
Howling Bells weren't high on my list of likely 2026 comebacks, having peaked in popularity about 20 years ago, but the new material sounds genuinely good! They've held up pretty well physically too, if you ask me. If you aren't familiar, they play moody rock with a bit of oomph on the bottom end - there are bits of Curve, Honeyblood, Siouxsie and the Banshees and Black Heart Procession in there. Here are some sample songs, see for yourself:
The wonderful Setting Sun: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbBepI5FVgo
Cities Burning Down: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fMpn7NSUXc0
Unbroken (off the new LP): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zw5zRli_f5I
Another new one, Chimera: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bIW3uO4ZjU
Support comes from:
a) The Roebucks, an acoustic pop four-piece from Brighton fronted by two harmonising singers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C29xtOYLgOc
b) Charlotte Carpenter, generic (that's what it sounds like to me anyway) singer-songwriter stuff: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sIGHfhNHnac
Tickets here: https://dice.fm/event/8erxmr-howling-bells-24th-mar-oslo-hackney-london-tickets?lng=en
Doors are 7pm, we can meet from just before (pints are £5 before seven and cocktails are 2 for £14) and grab a pre-pint downstairs, then head in for the support if we feel like it.
Viktor Wynd's Guided Tour of His Museum

**RSVPs close one week before.**
See things that no one else sees, or notices, hear how he collected dodo bones and shrunken heads, extinct bird feathers, old master etchings and more. Mr. Wynd has been described as ‘a sick orchid’ by John Waters, ‘ a true exquisite’ by Derren Brown’ & as ‘one of the great latter-day collectors’ by The Times Literary Supplement and guarantees that no two tours will ever be the same as he attempts to explain the origin of the idea and tell you what it is all about, he will ramble from subject to subject, object to object and vaingloriously explain all the obscure objects of his desire.

I Love Music @ Musical Pub Crawl With Vinyl DJ💿
Exploring the musical archives with captivation at both a very young age and later as music radio presentator, club DJ & musicologist - I discovered only snippets of an estimated 97 million songs even though I went all the way back to the 17th century!
If you love music, then you'll know it's not just entertainment but a spritual soulful experiene ("I hear my compositions as a single point of light, all I do is hold that point of light in my mind whilst I write it down" Wolfgang Mozart)
So let's immense ourselves in our passion by enjoying music, singing, dancing with drinks in hand whilst broadening our music knowledge and exposure by discovering new material, artists and even genres at fun musically themed night out for passionate music lovers in the UK home of rock n roll - Camden of course!
Contemporary or old - you must be passionate about music which means you will be prepared to talk about your favourite song(s) and or artist(s), influences and underlying reasons at ease. What is it that makes them stand out and unique? Does the song have personal relevance to you? Are the lyrics poetic or a philosophical masterpiece like in some old hip-hop or is it about the sound of the vocals or hypnotic melodies? Did the song (or artist) play a pivotal role in shaping political change & influence in society (yes some musicians have even died for their artform) or the evolution of new music genres, sub cultures and underground music movements today? Was Lennon & McCartney the greatest ever singer song writer combo or have you heard better? Who are the best all time music producers & song writers - Max Martin, Billy Joel, George Martin, Quincy Jones, Bernie Taupin, Dr Dre, Carole King? Did PWL records destroy the British music scene or contribute to it?
We can also touch on influential music producers, labels, DJs and radio stations as well. Discussion on all elements of musicology and enablers is up for grabs.
If you can - come prepared with links to samples (feel free to post youtube and other links in the comments section below) to demonstrate or be willing to sing/rap some lyrics so we can get an idea. Funky dance moves optional.
=========RENDEZVOUS POINT =================
We will meet inside Amy Winehouse's local - the Hawley Arms. I'll be wearing Starwars lanyard and will share my number an hour before the event in the comments in case of issues finding us. We will spend about an average of 90 mins per bar.

Musical Comedy Awards 2026 Semi-final Two with Amy Webber
So the eighteenth [Musical Comedy Awards](https://www.musicalcomedyawards.com) competition has begun! The top 44 musical comedy acts have been selected from online entries and are battling it out in the heats and semi-finals at The Phoenix through to the Grand Final at The Bloomsbury Theatre on Friday April 10th. Come along for amazing Saturday afternoons of musical comedy entertainment and vote for your favourite acts to progress through to the next round!
Semi-final 2 is headlined by 2020 Musical Comedy Awards Audience Favourite, Amy Webber! Wasted degree in opera. Teacher's pet. Born in Chesterfield, raised in Japan. Amy is a witty and energetic lost soul who despite years of culture, education and therapy still finds farts funny. Originally training as an opera singer but then rebelling into pop, performing comedy was an unexpected career move which has resulted in the perfect platform to combine songwriting, singing and being silly with free rein.
Amy has performed live multiple times on BBC Radio 4 and been recognised as “playful and charismatic” (Chortle) and for having “divinely constructed comedy” (Playbill). In 2023, her debut one woman show won ‘Best Comedy’ at Manchester Fringe and featured on the Telegraph's ’35 Funniest Shows of the Fringe’ after a sell out run at Edinburgh Fringe. 2025 saw her second show, ‘Wannabe’ get shortlisted for Best Show by the ISH Edinburgh Comedy Awards. Amy has provided tour support for the likes of Grace Campbell, Christopher Hall, Emmanuel Sonubi and Max Fosh.
* WINNER ‘Best Stand Up Comedy’ at Manchester Fringe (2023)
* WINNER ‘Audience Choice Award’ at the Musical Comedy Awards (2020)
* Featured on the Telegraph's '35 of the funniest shows at the Fringe' (2023)
* “Joyful... golden-voiced musical comic" The Telegraph
* “Playful and charismatic… Webber’s knack for crowd work cannot be ignored” Chortle
* “Energetic and quick witted… laugh-a-minute” North West End
* “Amy really has an amazing ability to engage an audience” Voice Mag
Join us at this one show for £10/ticket, or at all 6 of them with a massive discount of £37.50 by purchasing a £22.50 Phoenix Pass, at [https://www.wegottickets.com/musicalcomedyawards](https://www.wegottickets.com/musicalcomedyawards)!
The 12 acts competing in this second semi-final will be:
* Sam Hickman
* Alexis Sakellaris
* Chris Iskander
* Sophie Banister
* Now That's What I Call Unresolved 90s Trauma
* Ben Coleman
* Aadar Malik
* Roops as David Grynch

Now in its 18th year, the WeGotTickets Musical Comedy Awards is an annual competition to support, promote, expose and celebrate the best emerging musical comedians in the UK. If you are a fan of musical comedy acts such as Tim Minchin, Flight Of The Conchords and Flo & Joan, you'll love this show! Our official patron since 2025 is Bill Bailey MBE.
Over the years, the MCAs have provided a launch pad to now established and emerging stars of the genre such as Frisky and Mannish (2009 Finalists), Abandoman (2010 winners), Rachel Parris (Runner Up 2012 and star of The Mash Report), Mae Martin, Jazz Emu, Katie Norris and many more. The MCAs have created a thriving independent platform to celebrate the artform that is musical comedy. Other acts that have featured as headliners in our shows include David O'Doherty, Bo Burnham, Rubberbandits, Mitch Benn, Jay Foreman, Pippa Evans, Tom Basden, Isy Suttie, Ginger & Black, Earl Okin, Flo & Joan, Wilson Dixon, Jo Neary, Mr B. The Gentleman Rhymer, Sarah-Louise Young, Adams & Rae and many more.

Arthouse Friday: THE DRAMA at the Drexel Theatre!
Join us as we get together for an Arthouse Movie Friday event to see the A24 dark comedy /romance / psychological-thriller, THE DRAMA! The film stars Zendaya and Robert Pattinson as a happily engaged couple whose relationship is challenged when one discovers unsettling truths about the other. Here are details, a trailer and our plan for this event:
DESCRIPTION: The film follows a happily engaged couple whose relationship is put to the test when an unexpected turn sends their wedding week off the rails. The film comes from A24, is written/directed by Kristoffer Borgli stars Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Mamoudou Athie, Alana Haim, Hailey Gates and Zoë Winters.
QUICK WORD OF WARNING: The film hasn’t screened for critics yet and most of the details are being kept tightly under wraps. But, early buzz (possibly promotional) says the film is a brilliant psychological thriller/romance but also provocative, twisty and some contains occasional uncomfortable viewing! I love the cast and trailer, so look forward to seeing for ourselves!
ZENDAYA-PATTINSON TRIFECTA CHALLENGE: Robert Pattinson and Zendaya will star in THREE movies together this year, including THE DRAMA, Christopher Nolan’s THE ODYSSEY this Summer and Denis Villeneuve’s DUNE: PART THREE at Christmas!
TRAILER: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6zmKcUa4Xxk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6zmKcUa4Xxk)
PLAN: We’ll plan for 7pm-ish showing and will meet in the lobby area about 30 minutes before showtime! Advance ticket purchase not required for this theater but early arrival is advised. Possibly post-movie get-together at the nearby Rusty Bucket! Complete details will be confirmed/announced as the date gets closer.
Take care and look forward to seeing you there, Dan

Kevin Rhodus from Lucy Deep Park Northside is coming to talk to us about his extensive neighborhood Christmas light display that is open in November and December every year north of Dublin.
9 houses over 12 acres and over 120,000 individual controlled lights that sync to music which you can tune into on your radio! Quite impressive!
https://ldplights.com/
We'll dive into the tech that runs the show -- should be a blast to hear about this very elaborate display!
While we continue to pursue a more permanent venue for this Meetup, we’ll be using public library facilities based on availability.
This session will be at the Dublin Library in the Meeting Room 2
