Spring Walk: Isabella Plantation 🌸 | Richmond Park
Spring Walk: Isabella Plantation 🌸 | Richmond Park
**Hello, lovely people!** Join us for a relaxed spring walk through one of London’s most beautiful hidden spots - Isabella Plantation 🌸 Tucked away inside Richmond Park and originally developed in the 1950s, Isabella Plantation is a protected woodland garden. It’s especially stunning in spring, with blooming azaleas, peaceful ponds, and winding paths. We’ll ease into the day and move through nature at a comfortable pace - a simple escape from the city to unwind, chat, and enjoy the surroundings ✨ \*🏛 Optional early visit – 11:00 AM\* I’ll be starting a bit earlier at [Dorich House Museum](https://maps.app.goo.gl/tWno3JarnDXJLf62A), so if you’d like to join for a pre-walk visit, feel free to come along 😊 It’s a unique artist’s home and studio where we’ll likely spend around 30–45 minutes there before heading towards the park. From there, it’s about a 20–30 minute walk or bus to the plantation. 🌿 **Main meet point – 12:00 PM** 📍 **[Ladderstile Gate (Isabella Plantation entrance)](https://maps.app.goo.gl/37291UJHxHm9TdzQ8)** **‼️ UPDATED MEETING POINT https://maps.app.goo.gl/V76PvJJPPbbvt97PA?g_st=ac** Arrive by 12:00 — we’ll start shortly after (around 12:10–12:20). 🌸 **Isabella Plantation walk** Expect vibrant spring blooms, quiet woodland paths, and plenty of scenic spots along the way. We’ll explore at an easy, social pace. ☕ **Cafe break (optional)** There’s a café in or near the plantation where we can pause, grab a coffee or snack, and rest a bit before deciding what to do next. 🌳 **Optional extended walk** After the break, those who feel like continuing can join for a further walk towards Richmond, explore more of the park or the area. Please dress comfortably for walking. Please mind your **personal belongings and social behaviour** \- the organiser accepts no liability\. Thank you 😊 🌦 **Weather note** We’ll keep an eye on the weather and confirm 24 hours before. If it’s light rain, the walk will still go ahead (just bring a jacket). If conditions are too heavy, we may reschedule.

Hello Richmond Socialites Please join me at the Red Cow on Sunday for James Deane's delightful chilled acoustic set from 6.15pm onwards - he starts at 6.30pm and plays for around 2 hours. The Red Cow is frequently packed, noisy and great fun. It hopefully won't be very chilled because we don't have to get up the next day! Their Thai food is excellent if you fancy a meal. ***Please do not RSVP then not turn up. It's easy to change to 'No'.*** Sarah

Capital Ring Part 13 - Stoke Newington to Hackney Wick
Capital Ring Part 13 - Stoke Newington to Hackney Wick
We will be walking section 13 out of 15 of the Capital Ring walk. Starting from Stoke Newington station, we will walk through Springfield park and alongside the river Lea, before finishing at Hackney Wick train station. This section of the capital ring is one of the shorter sections and fairly level, we will be walking for approximately one and three quarter hours with a break in between. It can get muddy so bring suitable footwear and clothing if it looks like rain or has been raining. I'll keep a watch on the forecast and will cancel the event a day or two before if the weather is looking bad, so keep an eye on the event chat which I'll update a day or two before to confirm we are going ahead. We will meet just outside Stoke Newington station at 10:45. Unless there is a transport issue affecting everyone, we will aim to start off on the walk at 11am. I will add my location tracking on Glympse so if you are late, we will not wait but you will be able to catch us up. After the walk at Hackney Wick I am planning on heading to a local pub, the Lord Napier Star, for a drink and a bite to eat. The last time I came here they did a good Sunday Roast, if you are up for coming along please indicate in the comments. I'm estimating we would reach the end of the walk at Hackney Wick for about 12:30pm.
Circular Green Walk Around Chingford, Pole Hill, Yardley Hill + (optional) Pub
Circular Green Walk Around Chingford, Pole Hill, Yardley Hill + (optional) Pub
We're going back over to Chingford today, rather than the Leytonstone walk, due to the festival. So its now a circular green walk from Chingford Station around Pole Hill, Yardley Hill, and Sewardstonebury. We're meeting outside Chingford Station at 11am, and will leaving fairly promptly. We'll circle around the lovely Yardley Hill & Pole Hill, stop for a coffee in our favourite Valley Cafe, and be back at Chingford Station for around 3pm. For those wishing to come to the pub, we'll be heading slightly past the station for the Queen Elizabeth and some well deserved food and/or drink. I ask for a nominal contribution of £2 to help cover Meetup organiser fees. You can alternatively pay £4 to cover the whole of May, or £20 to take you through six full months. No shrapnel please. For drivers, park in Beresford Rd and use the footpath between number 25 and 29 to go to the station. The postcode for that point of the road is E4 6ED. If you're on the train, its the London Overground (now known as the Weaver Line) from Liverpool St. You can go from Stratford if you go over the internal bridge at Hackney Central to Hackney Downs for a train change. The 97 bus goes from Stratford Station too (via Leyton & Walthamstow). Careful though, as end to end takes nearly an hour. Chingford station is also served by buses 179, 212, 397, 444. The 179 is very useful for a lot of people, going through Ilford, Gants Hill, South Woodford & Woodford. The 397 goes from Loughton Station RISK WARNING/DISCLAIMER: Please remember that as with any physical activity, there can be dangers associated with hiking/walking, especially around waterways, forests, farms and countryside. Your decision to voluntarily participate in this activity is an informed decision, and by attending this event you agree and accept to take sole responsibility for your own actions, your own safety, and your own belongings. Please dress appropriately, including sturdy shoes. Please bring any necessary medication with you. You will need to be sufficiently fit to walk several miles at a moderate pace. We may occasionally cross or walk short distances on roads; country and woodland tracks can be muddy or slippery; animals may be encountered on occasion. INSURANCE: If either yourself or any guests you bring along require insurance for this event, then you must arrange this yourselves. GUESTS: If you are bringing any guests along, there is no facility on the Meetup site to record their details. Please ensure that you make them fully aware of the Risk Warning/Disclaimer and Insurance statements.

Contra dance with Big Scioty May 2 - Clinton Heights Lutheran church
Contra dance with Big Scioty May 2 - Clinton Heights Lutheran church
**Caller: Richard Ades** **Band: The McKenzies** **Clinton Heights Lutheran Church** **15 Clinton Heights Ave, Columbus, OH 43202** WHAT IS CONTRA DANCING? Picture the Grand Ball scenes like you’ve seen in period films such as “Pride and Prejudice”, where the dancers are lined up in long lines, across from each other. That’s English Country Dancing, the predecessor of contra dancing. Now, add moves like “swing your partner” and “do-si-do,” like you’ve seen in square dancing. Set it to fabulous, high energy, live music with fiddles, guitars, percussion and more, alá “Riverdance.” Finally, set the whole scene down in the middle of Woodstock, with a hip, groovy atmosphere, a bit of tie-dye, and hints of counter-culture attitude. THAT’s Contra Dancing! Wear cool and comfortable clothes (you will get warm) and clean shoes that won't mark up our nice wood floor. Be sure to come for the beginner's lesson from 7:30 - 8:00, followed by dancing 8:00 - 10:30. All dances are taught; we will help you learn! Beginners always welcome, no need to bring a partner. Cost is $10.00 adults, $5.00 ages 12-26. Under 12 free. Free parking in church lot. For more information contact me or check out our website: [www.bigscioty.com](http://www.bigscioty.com/) Please bring your own refillable water bottle.
