Saturday Cherry Blossom Run - 50 min (25 out and 25 back)
Saturday Cherry Blossom Run - 50 min (25 out and 25 back)
This is our once a year run to the Cherry Blossoms. We will start at Roosevelt Island at the crosswalk in the center of parking lot. Afterwards stay for coffee, we'll wander up to Rosslyn and either meet in Compass or, if the weather is nice enough, at the Plaza opposite the Metro. Note: Photos taken during the event may end up on Instagram, Meetup, Strava and similar platforms. LOCATION: Roosevelt Island Parking Lot. Use this map to locate the parking lot (https://www.google.com/maps/place/38%C2%B053'48.2%22N+77%C2%B004'02.1%22W) [GPS: 38°53'51.99"N 77° 4'3.24"W]. To help new people find the group, please meet in the middle of the parking lot. Please meet 10 min. before the start time. Alternative location, ONLY when indicated, on the Custis trail, on the North side of Gateway Park, near Langston Blvd and Lynn St: https://maps.app.goo.gl/3SNFYSkFv9rRQed37 PACE and MILEAGE: All paces are welcome! This is a longer route but people can just turn around at 25 minutes if they want. We generally average from 8-12 min/miles and run for fifty minutes. But, you can run any amount of time or mileage. And if you need to walk, it's not a problem either, everyone needs to start somewhere! ROUTE: This is a different route than normal, it takes us to the tidal basin and - if you are doing the full thing - around it. https://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/5425893562. The full circuit works out to almost 6.5 miles so even faster runners might not do it in the usual 50 minutes. PARKING: Use this map (http://bit.ly/i2dWD0) to find parking in Rosslyn. There are parking lots at Roosevelt Island and above the Continental Lounge. There are also meters and pay garages. DIRECTIONS: For those of you driving to Roosevelt Island, please note that the parking lot is only accessible from the NORTHBOUND lane of GW parkway. You will see it right after the Roosevelt Bridge. METRO: Orange or blue to Rosslyn. From N. Moore St, turn left; right onto 19th St; cross Lynn St. and turn left; take the trail on the right just before the Key Bridge.

Quad Roll: Teahouse & Sakura Skate
Join us for our Spring Quad Rollout featuring a quintessential DC experience with a route designed for Quad and beginner inline skaters! Sunday Skate - Skate the Streets of America's Original 13 Colonies
Sunday Skate - Skate the Streets of America's Original 13 Colonies
Since Freedom Plaza is closed for renovations, we meet at the corner of 14th and E st NW, right across form the Willard Hotel. An early America's 250th Birthday-themed skate lead by Ian! We're skating all throughout the city on the streets that share their names with the original 13 colonies of America. We'll start by taking Pennsylvania Ave towards the Capitol. We'll move around the Capitol from the West side to the East side, using Delaware Ave. From there, we'll then head towards Providence Park, then zigzag to Lincoln Park using South Carolina Ave, Penn Ave (again!), and North Carolina Ave. We'll go counter-clockwise around Lincoln Park and head towards Union Station, using Massachusetts Ave and Maryland Ave. We'll continue past Union Station, then take New Jersey Ave to K St. After a short trip on K St, we'll take 7th St for awhile where it eventually turns into Georgia Ave. We'll then go East on V St before taking New Hampshire Ave to Dupont Circle. Then, we'll take Connecticut Ave until a right turn on M St before returning to New Hampshire Ave and taking that to its end. From there, we'll spend a small bit on Virginia Ave before a nice stretch on G St until we hit the White House. We'll then cut up to Rhode Island Ave using 17th St. Then, we take Rhode Island until 9th St, taking that until a right turn on New York Ave. After that, we'll take a quick downhill on 15th St and we're back where we started. We'll be skating in the road for all of this skate. Some of the streets we're on have bike lanes. Hills are all manageable on this route, with no incline larger than 3-4%. We'll have breaks/re-groups at the East side of the Capitol, Stanton Park, V St/Georgia Ave, Dupont Circle, and Farragut Square. The route: [https://onthegomap.com/s/g1m35k66](https://onthegomap.com/s/g1m35k66?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAYnJpZBExSUo1MTN0VHRJQ3AwRVNOT3NydGMGYXBwX2lkEDIyMjAzOTE3ODgyMDA4OTIAAR5JNFSYeV_dpFkAJHYuOByGwCxjU4vAJuq6VloCjyoHNrMhALecmKBfG0HzJQ_aem_iyw2X5C-7XPcO5-vTJX0yQ) Meetup at 10:00, roll at 10:10! Hike: Bull Run/Occoquan Trail, VA (Bluebell hike)
**Trail Map / VA Bus** *$36. Long hike: 12 mi., 900 ft. elevation gain. Moderate hike: 8 mi., 500 ft. elevation gain. Extra-long hike: 18½ mi., 3000 ft. elevation gain.* There are literally acres of Virginia Bluebells on the banks of Bull Run, the result of rich, seasonally flooded, sandy soil. If the season's timing cooperates, we will see vast stands of these flowers in full bloom. Trout lilies, beavers, heron, kingfishers and migratory warblers also vie for attention. Moderate hikers start at Hemlock Overlook and proceed north (upstream) on the Bull Run – Occoquan Trail to Bull Run Regional Park. Long hikers start hiking north from Bull Run Marina. Hikers who are up to the challenge have the option of starting at Fountainhead Regional Park to cover the full length of the trail. \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\- RESERVATIONS Capital Hiking Club is a non-profit group, and the public is invited on all trips. Reservations are accepted as late as Friday, but reserving before Wednesday night helps ensure your spot and prevent cancellation of the hike due to low sign-ups. FIRST-TIME HIKERS If you're a first-time hiker with us, please notify the leaders in advance so they can make sure you have the info you need. Hikers must be able to keep at least a 2 mph pace.
