**ONLINE** Mindfulness Meditation with Hugh Byrne
**NOW ONLINE**
The weekly Sunday morning (10:30 am to 12 noon) class begins with a welcome, short reflection on an aspect of the teachings, and includes an arriving meditation (15 minutes) that will often incorporate poems and may end with a reflection or question.
The opening meditation is followed by an invitation to each person to share their name and a few words (for example, what is alive for them right now or what their intention is for the class or the day). The sharing has been a powerful support to help welcome new people, get to know each other, and build community/sangha.
Following a brief period of mindful stretching/movement, we finish with a longer meditation (25-30 minutes) and final reflections on the teachings, sharing, Q&A, and announcements. Class participants are welcome to stay and engage with other members of the community or adjourn to a neighboring restaurant or coffee shop.

Introduction to Zen class
**In this one hour introduction to Zen practice, teachers will provide the basic forms: posture, breath, walking, bowing, chanting. We will answer your questions about Zen practice, how to find support, and how to create a daily home practice.**
***When we start Zen, we "empty the bowl" and become open and free; we become "teachable." In Zen, we practice simple awareness and mindfulness of actions. We become responsible to our lives, to live a path of goodness and truth. Any faith tradition can practice Zen.***
**After the class, you will join us for our group meditation at 7 pm for one 25-minute period --or until we end at 8:30 pm.**
**The class will be held in our Zendo, lower level entrance at the back door of the church. Someone will greet you. Wear comfortable clothes.**

Zen Meditation Sunday Evenings
Join us for a quiet, grounded Sunday evening practice in community.
We typically gather with 6–12 practitioners for seated and walking meditation, along with a short Dharma talk or practice instruction offered by one of our teachers or senior students. Our guiding teacher is authorized in the Soto Zen lineage and has practiced Zen for 25 years.
**Schedule**
* Please arrive by **6:45 pm** to settle in
* First bell rings at **7 pm sharp**
*(If you arrive late, please wait in the hallway until the next bell.* *Someone will greet you)*
* 25 minutes of silent sitting
* 5 minutes of walking meditation

Our Zendo offers an environment conducive to communal practice. Each person feels the silent encouragement of others. Roles are clear and everyone follows the formal structure, thereby letting go of “preferential mind” or “complaining mind.” Silence is essential to support this meditative inquiry.
**Experience**
No prior experience is necessary. You may sit on a cushion or a chair. Whether you are new to meditation or have an established practice, you are welcome here. It is offered free of charge.

Inner Child Healing with Cacao, Breathwork and Sound Healing
### **Childhood is often seen as a carefree time, filled with laughter and joy. Yet, for many, it hides a deeper story of invisible wounds. Those moments of hurt whether from unkind words, unmet needs, or the pressure to perform shape who we become as adults.**
### **During this ceremony we will drink sacred cacao to connect with our inner child in a Curanderismo Ceremony with Cacao and breathwork. Everyone that is respecful with an open heart is welcome to attend this ceremony.**
### **We will respectfully honor the spirit of Cacao in the traditional ways from the Yucatan Peninsula. Ceremony will be lead by Jenny Perez a Curandera and Shamanic Healer who has worked together with her teacher and elders to put this ceremony together. Capoeira
Capoeira (capo-way-ra) is an Afro-Brazilian martial art that is unlike any other martial art. Capoeira incorporates flowing movements with kicks, dodges, and some acrobatics. It is often mistaken for a dance for those reasons. Since it’s origins in the 17th century, it has evolved from a secret fighting practice into an art emphasizing self-expression and community celebration. It is great for the body and mind! In addition to gaining strength and flexibility in class, students learn about Brazilian culture, history, and language (Portuguese). On November 26, 2014 capoeira was granted a special protected status as "intangible cultural heritage” by UNESCO.
No need to have a Capoeira background to join this class, just an open mind to try out a new way to move! Beginners welcome.

This class is a perfect stepping stone from our flagship My Body Don't Bend That Way classes to traditional Vinyasa and Flow classes.
