All: Looking for something fun to do on Valentines Day? Friends of mine told me about this Valentines Day Dinner and Concert Buffet is included in the cost of ticket which is $98. This week Susan will be teaching **Azul**, an award-winning game inspired by the beauty of Moorish decorative tilework. In Azul, players draft colored tiles and earn points for creating patterns on their personal player boards. Expect to spend about 90 minutes learning and playing your first game. Azul is an excellent game for both new and experienced players. If you're already familiar with **Azul** and would like to branch out, you can test your skills in **Azul: Summer Pavilion**, another game in the Azul series. Azul: Summer Pavilion combines the elegant tile drafting mechanic of the original with a completely reimagined player board. Alternatively, you're welcome to use our other games or bring your own. Valentine's Day is the perfect day for this sexy but tasteful show for this singles group! As a lover of burlesque, I've attended a few of their performances and am always thoroughly entertained. "Angie and her husband, Brian Newman, have brought their show *After Dark* to clubs across the country, from The Box in New York City to the NoMad Library in Las Vegas. **The duo blends Brian’s talents as a band leader and trumpet player and Angie’s show-stopping burlesque troupe** into a night fit for the Rat Pack. The 23rd Annual Winter Dance celebrates the music of Buddy Holly. Richie Valens, and the Big Bopper whose genius died young in that fateful plane crash in February 1959. More than half a dozen bands, lots of musical guests and hundreds of their friends and fans will be celebrating while raising funds for [The After Dark Fun](https://www.facebook.com/AfterDarkFund/). The After Dark Fund helps local musicians with urgent financial need. Approx. 5 or 7 miles mostly on sidewalks. This (almost annual) hike will approximate the route that President Lincoln took from the White House to his summer “cottage” on the grounds of the Old Soldier’s Home, with a few detours to recreate something of the greener routes that Lincoln rode 100+ years ago. We’ll also visit the Adams Memorial in Rock Creek Church cemetery. The Cottage offers an informative guided tour which I encourage participants to take at 1pm. There is also now an option to do a “landscape tour” of Lincoln’s Wild Home, a self -guided app-based tour of 1.5 miles around the grounds. There are fees for both. The Cottage tour is $15. The walking tour is $10 unless you also buy the guided Cottage tour, when it is $7. There is also a very informative small Museum in the Visitors Center. I will lead us from a new start area on the north side of Lafayette Park across Pennsylvania Avenue from the White House. There will be stops for commentary along the way. Going north we will go past the Cottage and on to Rock Creek Church Cemetery and the Adams Memorial. \*\*\*We then return to the Visitor Center at the Cottage where the official hike will end. \*\*\*This will allow those who want to tour the Cottage to do so and/or to take the “Lincoln’s Wild Home” walk. It should not be difficult for hikers to retrace their steps to return to the White House area primarily using Georgia Avenue. You can also go to the Georgia-Petworth Green line Metro (.75 miles) to return downtown or can go a bit further to connect with the Red line at Ft. Totten. I suggest that hikers bring a brown bag lunch or snacks to eat near the Cottage or consider a local restaurant. *Bring a photo ID*, which may be needed for entry to the Visitor’s Center and also to take the walking tour. Always have water, comfortable clothing and shoes. Given the amount of snow/sleet/water the ground has been enduring, I strongly suggest waterproof shoes and maybe even a hiking stick. It is the largest such center in North America and one of the largest in the entire world. During this tour, we'll visit The Wilds' rhino herd in their state-of-the-art heated barns and learn how The Wilds' animal management team takes care of one of the largest herds of rhinos outside of Africa and Asia. **The date and time of this tour** We will be doing the 1:00 p.m. [Rhino Barn Tour](https://www.thewilds.org/rhino-barn-tour) on Saturday, February 28. The tour is scheduled to last 90 minutes. **What you need to do to attend** Signing up here on Meetup will not get you into The Wilds for the tour. The Wilds generally asks that people arrive at least thirty minutes because the scheduled start time of their tour. **GPS / Getting to The Wilds** The Wilds is in a very rural area, but I've never had a problem getting there with my GPS (I have Verizon). I've also uploaded a JPG map, below, of Muskingum County. Sometimes, though, it's hard to get a signal when you're at The Wilds and getting ready to leave. So you might want to consider downloading an offline map in Google Maps. Your cell phone should pick up a signal, however, within a few minutes after you leave. The Wilds' Visitor Center does have free Wi-Fi. **Carpooling?** If you want to carpool, I recommend discussing this in the comments, below, to this event. While I don't myself carpool, I will do what I can to help you arrange something if I can. **The weather** Dress for the weather. Just because the barn is heated doesn't mean it will be warm. And wear closed-toed shoes. Wilds' tours typically run no matter what the weather is. **After the tour** Once we're done with the rhinos, we'll head over to the very highly rated [Y-Bridge Brewing Company](https://ybridgebrewing.com/). The brewery is about thirty minutes from The Wilds, and it will be on the way back to Columbus for most, if not all, of us.
