Bi Underground Monthly Pub Social [other group]
This event, the London Bisexual Underground group meet (a separate group), is a regular monthly event on the 2nd Tuesday. Its a monthly social in a relaxed and quieter pub than our group's usual bar socials, but not far away from us, the other side of Oxford Street. Once at the pub, head upstairs, the group has Bi flyers & copies of BCN (Bi Community News magazine) on their tables.
You'll find it quieter than our event and more like a traditional pub. There are a lot of long-term regulars and people more active in the rest of the community, but its still very open to new people.
Its run by Vicki (also a member of our group if you wish to write to her and on facebook/twitter too).

Science and Human Values: The Sense of Human Dignity
This week we'll look at the third chapter of [Science and Human Values](https://sciencepolicy.colorado.edu/students/envs_5110/bronowski_1956.pdf), by Jacob Bronowski.
In this work Bronowski contends that science is not merely a technical method, but instead is grounded in the same philosophical principles which characterise an open society.
These values include honesty, freedom, and tolerance of uncertainty and, he argues, abandoning them leads to intellectual and moral disaster.
Please read the chapter before attending.

"Words are inadequate to express the uniquely nurturing experience I had during your Aerial Relaxation Pod class... and the music was amazing! The feeling of being securely wrapped in a silk hammock from head to toe, suspended in the air, slowly rocking, with the crystal bowls and ambient music created a sublime and profound atmosphere. It was as if I was in a cocoon of total support, allowing peace to flow into my entire being." - Alison

Callin All Dancers / Ravers: Free Dance Music Night @ World Famous KOKO Club
**Love dancing to hedonic dance music like I do?** Then join to kick of 2026 in euphoric high octane musical style with one of the **best dance music DJs** from **Japan** out there droppin phenomenal uplifting high energy spritual tunes for us to **rave** to in one of the most famous places in Clubland London @ the home of music Camden - **Koko**. As per any real clubnight - there will be inspiring immersive light shows / lasers for our bodies to sync in harmony to as with gyrate to the **rhythm of the night** (yeah I know that track is way too pop even for an underground cross-over but fuck it!)
This will be a proper dance music club for hardcore ravers - so obviously there will be no mainstream pop or uncool "tourist" crap! Instead, think of the ecstasy inducing dancin tunes you'd hear at other famous clubs like Lightbox, Egg, Bagleys, The Ministry, Moondance, Fabric, Paradise Club etc. We'll join up to **1500** other fellow cool young trendy music lovers for dancing and drinking for a night of blissful musical tranquility, Average age range 18 to 35ish heavily skewed toward 20s men.
**Free Tickets are strictly limited -** so if you don't love both uplifting dance (rave) music and dancing to it - this is not a place for you - please don't rsvp and deprive someone who genuinely loves dance music a rare slot! Strictly no superr exteme lightweights - if you're gonna go home at 12am no point in coming out really. In proper clubs - real revellers don't usually arrivie till 2ish as the main DJ / music sets don't even kick-in till 12 so waste of a good ticket you'd normally pay up to £70 quid for! Oh & please don't ask me about 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine - I'm not a biochemist - try your local Boots!!!
**=== Time To Make The Floor Burn ===**
The only downside is we have to get in there before 10.30pm else regular door charge tickets will be about £45-70 quid, maybe cheaper with uni student ID. If you wanna pay for full ticket price on door or pre-buy and meet us in there about 1am that's cool too as 10.30pm is a understandably way too early to go a music club (hence the only reason we getting free tickets ) - we can sort out the details later. DM me for the free ticket link.
We will meet beforehand somewhere quieter for intros, banter and obviously music chats about our previous rave escapades, our fav tunes, and non-music related banter. As Koko gets packed by 2am (1500 standing dancing cap) and we have limited free tickets - to avoid losing people - a small group size will be optimal for dancing together so limiting RSVPs. Obviously you can dance with other ravellers. Will update with super cheap pre-drinks Camden venue in the location.
Es are good, Es are good, Ebenezer Lucas is good (If you can name dat tune without googling - I'll buy you a Bloody Mary)

Software ate the world, Agents are eating Software Engineering
2026 may be the last year many developers write code by hand. We need coding agents to solve complex problems in production codebases, but vibe coding alone won’t get us there. Vibe coding is all gas, no brakes. It burns up the context window until the agent slips on its own slop. You can go fast at first, but the more you stuff into the context window, the more tangled its outputs get. While the industry is rapidly increasing code generation speed, we still have to understand, review, merge, and maintain what gets shipped.
This talk featuring Michael Geiger will outline how coding agents (Claude Code + Gas Town) work and a framework for orchestrating them to solve complicated problems in complex codebases. It’s about steering the model: doing the research to align intent, planning the approach up front, implementing in parallel steps, and breaking early. Human judgment still matters, but it should be spent on high-leverage decisions: what to build, what to forbid, and “what is quality?”, not cleaning up slop. Attendees will leave with a checklist to identify workflow and environment gaps that hold agents back, so you and your team can ship higher-quality software starting tomorrow.

Contra dance Jan 24 (First Unitarian Universalist Church) note new time!
# **Band: The Pegheads; Caller: Liz Burkhart**
Beginner lesson at 1:30, regular dancing begins at 2:00 pm
NOTE THAT WE ARE TEMPORARILY DANCING IN THE AFTERNOON INSTEAD OF EVENING. Dance with us in the afternoon then you can still go out in the evening!
**Sponsor: All Soles Contra and Square Dancing, First Unitarian Universalist Church, 93 W. Weisheimer Rd., Columbus OH 43214**
WHAT IS CONTRA DANCING? Picture the Grand Ball scenes like you’ve seen in period films such as “Pride and Prejudice”, where the dancers are lined up in long lines, across from each other. That’s English Country Dancing, the predecessor of contra dancing. Now, add moves like “swing your partner” and “do-si-do,” like you’ve seen in square dancing. Set it to fabulous, high energy, live music with fiddles, guitars, percussion and more, alá “Riverdance.” Finally, set the whole scene down in the middle of Woodstock, with a hip, groovy atmosphere, a bit of tie-dye, and hints of counter-culture attitude. THAT’s Contra Dancing!
Wear cool and comfortable clothes (you will get warm) and clean shoes that won't mark up our nice wood floor.
Be sure to come for the beginner's lesson from 1:30 - 2:00, followed by dancing 2:00 - 430. All dances are taught; we will help you learn! Beginners always welcome, no need to bring a partner.
Cost is $10.00 adults, $5.00 ages 12-26. Under 12 free. Free parking in church lot.
Please bring your own refillable water bottle.
