• What is it? - This class is for all levels from novice to advanced runners, where we will train you to run fast.
• Where is it? - We meet at the Simon Bolivar statue in Parque De La Barceloneta. Click on this link to see the location https://www.pbtraining.online/pbrunning/
Due to how busy the park can get its not always possible for me to be in the same location for every session. Please look out for me in my blue PB t-shirt. You can text me and I can send you my location.
• When is it? - Running intervals runs every Tuesday at 07:15am, Tuesday at 7.30pm (Glories), Wednesday at 8pm, and Thursday at 7pm.
• Who runs it? - These classes are led by me! My name is Alan Urquhart and I am from Scotland. I am a Level 4 Advanced Personal Trainer and I have been in the health and fitness industry for 28 years. For 14 years I was a runner, taking part in road, hill, cross country, and track, in distances from 1 mile to marathon. I have been involved in Athletics coaching since I was 17.
• How much is it? - €10 a class however you can buy unlimited PB:Running classes for the calendar month for €40.
• Anything else? - Before you attend your very first class with me, you will be required to fill out a par-q which you can complete here.

• What to bring - It would be advised to bring along a water bottle. Bringing along a digital watch for timing runs and recoveries would be very useful. Wear appropriate clothing and footwear. We will use resistance bands in these classes. If you would like to bring your own then that is welcomed otherwise the coach will have sufficient quantity for each participant.
• What is it? - This class is designed to strengthen and condition the whole body. Aiming to prevent injury by strengthening those weak muscles and stretching those problem areas. This will be hugely beneficial to our runners all of whom who should do some strength and conditioning work at least once a week. By coming along to class you get to do this under the instruction of a experienced coach and in the company of your friends from running intervals.
• Where is it? - The class takes place in Park Barceloneta where our running classes take place. Just look out for me in my blue PB:Running top. Click on the link to see the location

Let’s smash that "post-work" fatigue! We are back with our recurring Wednesday or Tuesday session by the **BRCG gravel crew**. This week, we’re meeting at **Arts** to optimize our route and squeeze every last drop of daylight out of the Tuscan-style golden hour over Barcelona. 🌅
We’ll be heading straight for the legendary Serralada de Marina. It’s the perfect playground to test your form, and enjoy the city lights as they start to flicker on below.

Hola, ¿Quién se anima a correr o caminar en Barceloneta mientras el sol nace?
**#¿Qué hacemos?**
Quedamos delante de Buenas Migas de Barceloneta. Después de un breve calentamiento, unos salimos a correr y otros van a caminar. Todos, nos reunimos al final para charlar mientras algunos aprovechan de un buen chapuzón en el mar (opcional - traer bañador y toalla si os animáis). Con los que no tienen prisa vamos a tomar un café/desayuno después.
**#¿Qué nivel necesitas?**
Ninguno, no importa si lo que te gusta es caminar, si estas empezando en el mundo del running o si eres un(a) campeón(a), estas bienvenid@. En general, somos entre 10 y 25 personas. Nos reunimos al principio y al final de la actividad, pero nos dividimos en 3 o 4 grupos más pequeños en función de nuestros ritmos y de las distancias que queremos hacer.
Los que caminan, los que corren tranquilamente (6 - 7,30 min por km), a ritmo medio (5 - 6min por km), y los que quieren ir más rápido (4 - 5 min por km).
**#¿Precio?** La actividad es gratuita.

Who’s in for a Sunrise run or walk in Barceloneta?
**#What do we do?**
After a short warm-up, some of us go running and the others go for a walk. We all meet again at the end to chat while some of us enjoy a refreshing splash in the sea (optional - bring a swimsuit and towel if you’re in). For those who are not in a hurry, we then go to have a coffee / breakfast close by.
**#What level of running/walking is required?**
None, it does not matter if what you like is walking, if you are a beginner runner or if you are a champion, you are welcome, and you won’t get lost. In general, we are between 10 and 25 people. We meet at the beginning and at the end of the activity, but we divide ourselves into 3 or 4 smaller groups according to our pace and the distances we want to run/walk. Those who walk, the “tranquilo” runners (6 - 7.30 min per km), those who go at a medium pace (5 - 6min per km), and those who want to run faster (4 - 5 min per km).
**#Price?** The activity is free. If you want you can buy a running t-shirt of the group for 12 euros. Just let us know when you sign in.

**Una ruta apasionante con vistas de águila 🦅 en el increíble mirador de la Roca Foradada ⛰️✨**
Explora una Montserrat **más salvaje y menos masificada** 🌿🚶♀️, donde la naturaleza se muestra en su estado más puro y las vistas son simplemente espectaculares.
Al terminar la ruta nos vamos a tomar un aperitivo y/o una cervecita.
**🔗 DETALLES SOBRE LA RUTA**
* Ruta circular
* Distancia: 9,5 km
* Desnivel de subida: 474 m
* Tiempo estimado con paradas: 4,5 h
* Condición física: media
* Dificultad técnica: media. hay **un tramo de subida un poco técnico** en el que es necesario **progresar ayudándose con las manos** (no es escalada).
* **Final de ruta:** Vamos a un bar de tapas a comer (hamburgueses, pizzes, etc.). Quien quiera se puede traer su comida de casa.
**🔔** Todo participante se compromete a **estar en condiciones** de hacer las excursiones y a **comunicar cualquier dolencia** o lesión que pueda afectar al desarrollo óptimo de la actividad.

**History**
[Chestnut Ridge Metro Park](https://www.metroparks.net/parks-and-trails/chestnut-ridge/) is historically significant because it sits on a 300-million-year-old outcropping of Blackhand sandstone. Geographically recognized as the very first foothill of the Appalachian Mountains, the ridge rises 1,116 feet above sea level. Long before European settlement, the land served as a sacred site for ancient civilizations. The park contains the Old Maid's Orchard Mound, an eight-foot-tall burial mound constructed by the Adena culture between 1000 B.C. and 100 B.C. This ancient landmark has remained largely intact and is now protected on the National Register of Historic Places.
The documented modern history of the land began with an official survey conducted by Ebenezer Buckingham in 1801. Original land deeds of sale from this period notably bear the signatures of United States Presidents Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. In the 1830s, Irish laborers arrived at the ridge to quarry its rich Blackhand sandstone. The blocks they hewed were used to build the crucial locks for the nearby Ohio and Erie Canal. Remnants of this early sandstone quarrying operation can still be spotted by sharp-eyed hikers along the modern trails.
Agricultural transformation defined the ridge throughout the mid-to-late 19th century. Settlers discovered that the high elevation created a natural air flow that prevented late-season frost damage to crops. Extensive fruit orchards were planted across the slopes between 1860 and 1880. One notable orchard was established by John Wagner, a Spanish-American War veteran who chose the ridge specifically for its proximity to the bustling Columbus market. The park's current name pays homage to the massive American chestnut trees that once dominated the ridgeline before a devastating ecological blight wiped them out in the early 20th century.
The conservation story of the modern 486-acre park began in March 1962. The Metro Parks board announced land acquisition plans to block developers from building a residential housing development called Chestnut Heights. Director-Secretary Walter A. Tucker advocated heavily for the purchase, citing the ridge's immense value as a scenic overlook for central Ohio. The district systematically purchased multiple agricultural parcels over the next two decades. After operating strictly as undeveloped farmland through the 1970s, Chestnut Ridge Metro Park officially opened to the public on December 18, 1988.
In recent decades, the park has evolved from a quiet hiking spot into a premier regional destination for outdoor sports. A major turning point occurred in 2010 when the Central Ohio Mountain Biking Organization (COMBO) partnered with the park district to develop new infrastructure. Volunteers worked extensively to construct a single-track mountain bike trail, which officially opened in October 2011. An expert gravity and flow trail featuring advanced jumps was later integrated into the loop in 2016. Today, the park successfully balances its deep ancient, industrial, and agricultural history with active recreation.

**Summary**
For this event, we will hike the Ridge, Meadows, and Homesite Trails, and Law's Lane, which is unmarked on some maps. None of these trails is individually very long, so we will hike a few permutations and loops until we get in 4-5 miles. The hike will be moderately strenuous.
**Where We'll Meet**
Drive to the rearmost picnic area at the back of the park. There's a latrine here, but there's no water fountain here or anywhere else at Chestnut Ridge. I strongly recommend you bring some water of your own, at least for after the hike.
Cell service at the park is spotty, although your GPS will get you there just fine. The map pin I've provided here is exactly where we'll be meeting and should be able to be used directly in Google Maps, although Chestnut Ridge isn't big and you're unlikely to get lost here.

Bike Ride - Pickerington Ponds to Three Creeks
**Weather permitting**, we’ll take a casual ride from Pickerington Ponds (Glacier Knoll) to Three Creeks and back.
Distance is **18–25 miles**, depending on where we turn around and whether we add a side loop.
Pace is around **12 mph**, but this is a fun, no‑drop ride — we can slow down as needed.
