Improv Night at the Happy Treehouse - DCโs NEW Improv Troupe - The Ripple Effect
Improv Night at the Happy Treehouse with The Ripple Effect Improv Troupe
Letโs be honest. Life gives us plenty of serious moments.
This night is not one of them.
Join us from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM for a night of spontaneous comedy with The Ripple Effect, an improv troupe that travels around the DMV bringing laughter to places where people could use a little more joy.
Hospitals, community events, gatherings like this one. Anywhere people need a good laugh, we show up and start a ripple.
And once the laughter starts, it spreads fast.
If youโve never seen improv live before, youโre in for a treat. Nothing is scripted. No one knows whatโs going to happen next, including us. The entire show is built in real time based on your suggestions from the audience.
You might shout out a job.
A location.
A random object.
And suddenly youโre watching a scene about a dog therapist with boundary issues or a married couple arguing about who forgot to charge the emotional support Roomba.
Thatโs the magic of improv. Quick thinking, unexpected twists, and the kind of laughter that sneaks up on you.
Why people love watching improv:
*You laugh harder because you never see the joke coming.
*You get to participate by shouting out ideas that shape the scene.
*You watch performers build something hilarious out of thin air.
And the whole audience ends up laughing together because everyone is experiencing something that has never happened before and will never happen again.
Youโll definitely walk out feeling lighter than when you walked in.
And along the way you might meet a few new people who also enjoy laughing.
Because honestlyโฆ who doesnโt want funny friends?
The vibe for the evening
This is a relaxed BYOB potluck gathering under the pavilion.
*Bring your favorite drink.
*Bring a dish to share.
*Bring a lawn chair if you have one.
If you forget a chair, no problem. You can grab one of the chairs here, relax on the in-ground trampoline, or find a cozy spot around the pavilion.
Weโll have the fire going, sโmores ready, and plenty of room to settle in and enjoy the show.
Think backyard comedy club meets campfire hangout.
Great people.
Great laughs.
A little silliness.
And a ripple of joy spreading through the crowd.
Come join us,
Janine, your happy host

Expect to be challenged, affirmed, and genuinely seen - sometimes all in the same breath.
**Annette Santiago Reyes** Annette has a rare talent: she makes the way you communicate feel like a discovery, not a critique. It's a vibrant community of hermanas supporting and uplifting each other as they navigate their paths to leadership. A Columbus Business First Community Champion and Distinguished Hispanic Ohioan, her commitment to empowering others shows up everywhere she goes.
**Rachyl Kershaw** Founder of Greater Columbus Consulting and the architect behind the Confidence Lab Annual Summit, Rachyl has a gift for cutting through the noise, helping high-achievers stop performing success and start living it. She asks the questions most people are afraid to, creates space for honest reckoning, and somehow makes the hard work feel energizing. If youโve ever wondered why doing everything right still feels like somethingโs missing, youโre in exactly the right room.

Prompt vs. Paintbrush
AI is changing how art is made. But when does it stop being your work and start being the machineโs?
This month we're going to be doing a panel with with digital image, music, and written word artists, talking about at what point, while using AI in the creation process, does the work become not the artist creation?
We encourage audience participation during this event that will be moderated by Chris Slee.
Whether youโre deep in the field or just getting curious, come connect with others building and exploring AI in Columbus.

Shut Up & Write! Kingsdale Shopping Center
Greetings writers! Come down and join your fellow wordsmiths for one hour of uninterrupted writing time in the upper level of the Market District Supermarket in Upper Arlington.
The main entrance of the shopping center opens onto stairs/elevator leading up to the 2nd floor cafe section where we will have a table displaying a sign with the Shut Up & Write logo.
Writing is largely a solitary craft. Practicing with others in a community setting may be the thing you need to fire your own routine.
Weโll meet on Wednesday evenings, starting the clock at 6:30, following a brief period of introductions. This is solid writing time and all inclusive. Any project is acceptable, be it fiction, non -fiction, work or homework assignment. All is welcome and will remain private to you.
The market boasts a Starbucks, a full service bar and various affordable food options. Parking is plentiful, free Wifi is provided as well as outlets for charging your devices, though they are somewhat limited, so plan accordingly.
Show up as early as you like, or stay late. This group tends to socialize some, both before and after the alloted time, but this is not mandatory to you. Feel free to come and go as you please and late arrivals are welcome.
The cafe may be noisy on occasion so headphones/ earbuds are reccommended as you see fit.
Please try to RSVP if possible so that we may grab enough seats for allโthe venue can be busy at times.
Feel free to message me privately wth any questions and/ or concerns you may have.
Happy writing!
