We meet up in Hyde Park (Just to the West of the Rose Garden - see pin on the map). The guitars will give us away so we can recognise each other in the mass of other people. From there, we sit on the grass, and after some introductions, we start jamming. My genres are: rock, blues, folk, singer-songwriter but anything goes. For jamming, we'll pick a chord progression, something not too complicated and then we take turn to improvise melodies on top of it (both guitar solos but also vocalising). Intermediate level and above ideally but any level welcome but you should probably be able to play some chords (to get the most out of it). Other things we will do: 1. We can play songs - whoever wants to, not going to go round the circle forcing people to play. The songs can be either originals (your own songs) or known songs. 2. We can chat about music or other things 3. Have a drink - bring your fave drink (wine, beer, non-alcoholic) 4. Food goes too (bring your own) When we've had enough, we say goodbye and go home. People can leave early too if they've got other stuff to do or the whole thing is not their vibe (no hard feelings). All of that is weather permitting. If it rains, it's not happening - unless someone suggests a free venue (I don't know one :-)

Newcomers always welcome. No one will see what you're writing or give you unsolicited advice. This is an informal Open Play session for players of all levels who want quality table time in a relaxed but high-energy setting. There is no coaching, just the freedom to train, play games, and mix with others throughout the session. Most attendees come alone. **Suzie Tudor-Hart, RIP- fundraising concert for St Raphael's Hospice** Last month, one of our founding members, Suzie Tudor Hart spent her past ten days in the wonderfully caring and efficient St Raphael’s Hospice- which is free of charge for Merton residents. This hospice get just 25% of their funding from the NHS. We are hoping to raise £2,000 to give to St Raphael’s. Entry for this concert is just £3 for a single ticket or £5 for a family ticket for two adults and up to three children. There will be a free bar for soft and alcoholic drinks, and chorus sheets for all guests. We will be singing two sets of eight sea shanty songs, and will there will also be one tuneful set of songs from our local choir- the Colliers Wood Chorus. Parking in the nearby side streets is free on Sundays, or Christ Church is about three minutes walk from Colliers Wood Station. **😍😍🎶 Sunday 03/05: VICTORIA OLIVELLA’S Welcome Milonga + Live Music QUANTUM ENSEMBLE** We are so honoured to welcome, this spring, the **Worldwide Tango Salon Vice Champion VICTORIA OLIVELLA** (Buenos Aires), who will be teaching at Los Angelitos an exclusive class, and celebrate at her Welcome Milonga with the **Live Music of QUANTUM TANGO**. Victoria Olivella is an Argentine tango dancer and teacher recognised for her elegance, musicality, and strong technical foundation. She gained international attention as the World Vice Champion of Tango in 2022, a title that established her among the leading figures of the contemporary tango scene. She came so close to being world champion – at this level, the difference between sub-champion and world champion is infinitesimal ;-). Known for her refined style and expressive interpretation, Olivella performs and teaches at festivals and events across Europe and beyond, often partnering with renowned dancers. Her teaching is especially appreciated for being clear, warm, and practical, focusing on technique, connection, and musical awareness developed through years of experience. You will find her teaching impressively warm and useful, giving tips that she developed in her dancing along the years. Greetings writers! Come down and join your fellow wordsmiths for one hour of uninterrupted writing time in the upper level of the Market District Supermarket in Upper Arlington. The main entrance of the shopping center opens onto stairs/elevator leading up to the 2nd floor cafe section where we will have a table displaying a sign with the Shut Up & Write logo. Writing is largely a solitary craft. Practicing with others in a community setting may be the thing you need to fire your own routine. We’ll meet on Wednesday evenings, starting the clock at 6:30, following a brief period of introductions. This is solid writing time and all inclusive. Any project is acceptable, be it fiction, non -fiction, work or homework assignment. All is welcome and will remain private to you. The market boasts a Starbucks, a full service bar and various affordable food options. Parking is plentiful, free Wifi is provided as well as outlets for charging your devices, though they are somewhat limited, so plan accordingly. Show up as early as you like, or stay late. This group tends to socialize some, both before and after the alloted time, but this is not mandatory to you. Feel free to come and go as you please and late arrivals are welcome. The cafe may be noisy on occasion so headphones/ earbuds are reccommended as you see fit. Please try to RSVP if possible so that we may grab enough seats for all—the venue can be busy at times. This year's Eurovision Song Contest is being held in Vienna, Austria, and the finals are scheduled for 16 May 2026. The [Scandinavian Club of Columbus](https://www.scandiclub.com/) will be co-hosting a viewing party for the final event in conjunction with Germania and the [Columbus Maennerchor](https://www.maennerchor.com/). The delayed televised viewing will take place at the Germania. The program will start around 2:00 p.m. and the singing will **start around 3:00 p.m**. There will be a **cash bar**, and those in attendance can **bring food or snacks** for themselves and or to share with the groups. **Suggested donation: $10/person** to help cover the cost of the venue.
