Triangle Off Road Cyclists (TORC)

You know whats almost as much fun as stomping thru a metropolis, wreaking destruction? CNF.

Return to nature like the giant lizard you are, at least for an hr or so.

Every Case of the Mondays is a different route. Come on out and try not to die.

Route will be determined by attendees (specifically their skill levels will influence where your host will lead you) at ride time.

Please note this is intended for "advanced beginners and early intermediate" riders - What does that mean? It means:

• you are comfortable and confident on your bike
• 1.5hr ride session is "OK" (pace will not be intense and will at times be such that conversation will (im very chatty) occur but plan on sweating and getting a good workout
• you can make good judgements about your own skill level and capabilities - OR - bad judgements that are humorous but not permanently debilitating to yourself and those around you :D

Keep safe distances please! During our initial grouping before the ride, please space out the recommended 6+' and/or wear a mask. During the ride, space out from the rider in front of you.

Meet time: 5:25 pm

**PEDALS DOWN Ride time: 5:35 pm (**ish - can be flexible for anyone stuck in traffic)

Distance: 6-10 miles (its usually between 7 and 9 miles)

Location: Carolina North Forest Municipal Drive gravel parking area.

Parking: Meet on the AIRPORT side of CNF. The address given is for the Carolina North Land and Management Office. When GPS says you have reached your destination, keep going past the office onto the dirt road. Parking is to the right about 1/4 mile down the road.

About TORC:

Did you know that being part of the TORC Meetup group is not membership in TORC? An individual basic membership is only $39 and you will receive both a membership with TORC and a membership with IMBA. This fee helps to finance trail building and maintenance, and rewards you with discounts on TORC races and at many of the local bike shops. Come out and help us fine tune a section Firebreak at the new Rotary Club of Roxboro Centennial Park, which is currently in a soft open phase, with 6 miles of completed trails. We will be working on building small berms along a downhill section of S turns to improve speed retention and turning. Some tools will be provided but extra wheelbarrows, shovels, and rakes. Bring your own work gloves and water. There are Porta-John's on site. Feel free to bring your bike to ride afterwards.

I haven't given up! January and February were rough, but I'm determined to complete the Pine Warbler connector reroute. This project is essential for preserving the trail in the long run. To reiterate, we will be moving the trail up and around the sign to create better drainage and potentially make riding there even more enjoyable.
I would greatly appreciate any volunteers who can join us. We’ll be removing the grass and saving it for replanting on the existing trail. I also hope to have some clay on hand to create a strong base for the rerouted trail, along with repurposing the top layer of the old trail.
Everyone is welcome, and I’m happy to teach! I learned by doing, and I encourage others to get involved.
Tools will be provided, so please wear sturdy footwear, bring water, and dress appropriately for the weather (warm clothing or bug spray, depending on conditions). We will park at the white barn instead of the usual parking lot. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out!

Hey, it’s your friendly neighborhood Trail Coordinator!

The next BC Trail workday is scheduled for March 22nd, 9am at the BC Clubhouse (weather permitting). We’ll have breakfast snacks in the Clubhouse - meet us inside! We will drive to the work site(s) no later than 915am.

What are we doing?

• Replacing a wooden feature, like for like
• More signage (if the ground is not frozen)
• More can be added based on registered attendance

What will TORC bring?

• Shovels, tools, cart(s), materials
• Trail signage for the area + sign installation tool (only 1)
• A map of which signs go where

What should you bring?

• Your favorite building/dirt-work gear
• Gloves, water, appropriate clothing (long pants recommended, close toed shoes a must)

Kid friendly?
Yes, as long as they can follow rules (e.g. dig here, move this there, don’t step in front of a swinging tool). We may use a chainsaw, and if we do it’ll be away from the main work group.

Newbie friendly?
This is newbie friendly!

Post workday ride:
I’m looking for volunteers that are interested in leading one. I cannot due to childcare constraints.
