Art Late open: Alessandro Mendini
Thu, Feb 26, 6:00 PMLove this modern Italian Art gallery and their exhibitions! Tickets are £9.50, or £4.75 with an Art Pass (lots of other concs). The £3 attendance fee goes towards Meetup site costs so we can continue running the group. Please bring coins or a small note. Thanks! More info, plus book your ticket: https://www.estorickcollection.com/exhibitions/alessandro-mendini We'll go to a lovely, cosy pub nearby where you can have food or just a drink (The Canonbury Tavern). I love a good pub. "Alessandro Mendini (1931–2019) was one of post-war Italy’s most creative and influential designers and architects. Bringing together around 50 key works – from furniture and drawings to paintings, rugs and design objects – the show celebrates Mendini’s playful and poetic approach to design across his extraordinary career and through his iconic collaborations with companies such as Alessi and Swatch. [...] The exhibition explores other aspects of the close relationship between Mendini’s work and that of the historical avant-gardes. Highlights of the show include a Kandissi sofa, inspired by Kandinsky’s abstract compositions, whilst a later group of sculptures and vases reference the mannequin-like figures that appear in Malevich’s works of the 1930s. [...] The exhibition also includes a number of Mendini’s whimsical, anthropomorphic creations, like the now-ubiquitous Anna G. and Alessandro M. bottle openers and corkscrews (first marketed by Alessi in 1994), which capture his philosophy of “treating objects as if they were human beings; I make them smile.”"

Neurodivergent Artist meet up - March 2026
Fri, Mar 6, 6:00 PMHello all! IT'S BEEN A WHILE! **But the neurodivergent artist meet ups are back!** Come along to meet fellow neurodivergent artists, share your work and chat about your art! I'd love to \*finally\* put on an exhibition next year to showcase neurodivergent artists' work - so it would be great to get your thoughts on this too so I can start planning. **Please RSVP if you can make it! I will need numbers before booking the table. RSVPs close Monday, 2 March at 11.59pm.** **Meet up format:** We usually meet for a drink (no pressure to drink alcohol!), introduce ourselves to each other, share examples of our work and have a chat! You don't need to bring anything, but a link to your website or social media so you can show us your creations would be lovely! We usually meet at a pub and whilst I always request one of the quieter tables - I am open to venue suggestions! I have left the event location as The Barrowboy and Banker for now, but please let me know if you know of anywhere more suitable by Monday 2 March. Hope to see you there! Amrita x

Art Exhibition & Performance—Arash Nassiri
Thu, Mar 19, 7:00 PMThis is a free event that requires reservation: [https://chisenhale.org.uk/whats-on/live-programme-iii/](https://chisenhale.org.uk/whats-on/live-programme-iii/) In [A Bug’s Life](https://chisenhale.org.uk/project/arash-nassiri-2/)*,* a moving image installation by Tehran-born, Berlin-based artist [Arash Nassiri](https://www.instagram.com/arash.nassiri/?hl=en), viewers are taken through a Beverly Hills mansion evoking the ostentatious, neoclassical style favoured by Los Angeles’ Iranian diaspora in the 1980s-90s. Shot from the viewpoint of an insect puppet voiced by Nassiri’s mother, the film continues a body of work interrogating architecture, space, memory and migration, as well as the fading aesthetics of a lost urban life. The film will be shown as part of his first institutional solo exhibition at London’s Chisenhale Gallery. ## Readings & Performance The third of three nights curated by writer, researcher, and radio host Nihal El Aasar in response to Nassiri’s new commission. London-based contributors will join Nihal for an exploration of memory and political resonance through words and sound.
