Sketch the New East River Park!
Sat, Jun 6, 3:00 PMThe East Side Coastal Resiliency Project is a huge initiative that's redesigning the whole east side of lower Manhattan. It's to prevent storm flooding, but it's also giving us refurbished parks. Part of it is now open - let's meet up and sketch it together! **We'll meet at the entrance to Corlears Hook Park, at the corner of Jackson St and Cherry St, in the Lower East Side, Manhattan.** Then we'll walk across the FDR together (don't worry, there's a bridge) into the park to draw. Any problems on the day of the event, I can be reached at 646-831-9816. Looking forward to sketching with you! *** IMPORTANT: In case of rain, I will let people know early in the morning if it is canceled, and then reschedule for another day. *** What makes our Meetups different from other art groups and classes? There's no instruction, but we like to share our work, and chat and be inspired. Share tips and learn from people in a casual environment where all levels of artists are welcome! Don't be shy to ask anyone anything! • We sketch for a bit, usually 45 minutes or so, and then get back together and share our drawings, and then sketch again, etc. There's usually time for 3 sketches. • Please bring your own supplies - anything you like to work with - pens, pencil, watercolor, pastel, small sketchbook or large paper, iPad, whatever suits you. • We hand out nametags so everyone can meet one another! • We take photos to share on the site later. Take a bunch! • Sorry, but please leave the dogs at home; they tend to step on the artwork. Thanks. • The Meetup is FREE and everyone at all skill levels is welcome! *** Please note that if you add a comment below it will spam everyone with an email, so please use your judgment.

Duane Park, Tribeca
Sat, Jun 6, 5:00 PMThe moment you've been waiting for has arrived. It's finally nice enough to go urban sketching outdoors! You like drawing people? Architecture? Cars? Squirrels? Awesome! We'll go to a spot and you'll draw whatever you want. Hopefully you'll make friends! Bring your own materials and a friendly mellow vibe. Pen and Ink? Sure. Watercolor? Gouache? Heck yeah. Good old fashioned pencil? Why not. iPad? Do it. The meetup is free!

Sketch Sutton Place Park!
Sat, Jul 11, 3:00 PMSutton Place Park is beautiful, quiet, and out-of-the-way. It has gorgeous views, but it's been 5 years since the group last visited, so let's get together and draw it! **We'll meet at the entrance to the park at 57th Street and Sutton Place. Be careful not to accidentally go to the other part of the park, several blocks lower.** Any problems on the day of the event, I can be reached at 646-831-9816. Looking forward to sketching with you! *** IMPORTANT: In case of rain, I will let people know early in the morning if it is canceled, and then reschedule for another day. *** What makes our Meetups different from other art groups and classes? Broadway, Tip to Top: Times Square
Sat, May 30, 3:00 PM*Welcome to the 2026 Broadway: Tip to Top series! We've begun at the very beginning, at the tip of Manhattan, and we'll progress up the island using Broadway as our path. By the end of Fall, we'll finish in Van Cortlandt Park, where Broadway continues into Yonkers but we will not; I have my limits, and one is the city limit!* This weekend's location is Times Square, except thankfully not really... we'll be meeting at 50th and Broadway! It's just north enough to avoid the chaos of deep Times Square while still having that vibe. Our meeting point will be in Paramount Plaza, at the northwest corner of the intersection with Broadway. Check in with me on-site so I know who's attending, and then we'll disperse to our individual painting spots. At 2pm, we'll meet back up to show off our art and discuss the day. Gather your materials (watercolor, oils, gouache, acrylics, marker: all are welcome) and join with other artists for the joys and challenges of painting outside!
