Caves, Cliffs, and Crevices: The Duncan Caves Loop

**Please note the only way to register for this adventure is on [our website.](https://www.wildernessunion.com/adventures/duncan-caves)** **Join us as we head to the Duncan escarpment to explore some incredible ‘crevice’ or ‘fracture’ caves, created over thousands of years through a mixture of glacial movement, extreme temperatures and the raw force of gravity.** We start the hike through open farmland and meadow before the ground tilts up and we climb onto the escarpment itself. From there, most of the day is spent walking along the escarpment and through the forest that grows right up to the cliff edge and spill over its exposed rock. We will then descend into the caves, with some being over 30 metres deep. You will be scrambling in some places, working your way down and through one of the more unique pieces of trail anywhere in Ontario. From the caves, the trail climbs back along the escarpment edge through mature forest, with a stretch of cliff top that opens up into views out over the valley below. We drop back down and loop through the same mix of field and forest that opened the day. **Parking is extremely limited at the trailhead, so we recommend taking transport for this adventure.** ‍ **Accessibility** Wilderness Union is committed to making our adventures as accessible as possible. Named after two prominent Toronto families, the Taylors were well-known for owning and operating the historic Don Valley Brick Works. This walk takes us along the scenic **Taylor-Massey Creek Trail**, through the **Don Valley**, and ends with a challenging hill climb before rewarding ourselves with **ice cream at Dairy Queen**. # 🌅🍂 Sunset Walk: Glen Stewart Ravine & The Beach Boardwalk ### A Short Fall Walk, Ice Cream & Sunset by the Lake Looking for an easy way to spend a fall evening? Join us for a relaxed **sunset walk through Glen Stewart Ravine**, followed by ice cream and a stroll along the Beach Boardwalk as the sun goes down. We’ll start at **Main Station** and make our way through the neighbourhood toward Glen Stewart Ravine. After enjoying the ravine and the fall colours, we’ll stop at **Ed’s Real Scoop** for ice cream. 🍦 Then we'll head toward the lake and walk along the **Beach Boardwalk**, taking in the evening light, the water, and the changing colours of the season. We'll finish at **Woodbine Beach**, where we'll take a little time to enjoy the sunset before wrapping up. This is a **short, easy walk of about 90 minutes**. HikeFit: Earl Bales – Steep Hills Fitness Hike – L3 (Moderate)

Ready to sweat it out on the hills? Join us for a HIIT-style hill training hike This hike is part of the **HikeFit Series**, a collection of fitness-focused hikes designed to build strength, endurance, and overall hiking fitness. We’ll challenge you with steep climbs, rugged terrain, and a high-intensity workout. This isn’t a fast-paced hike, but it is **intense**. We’ll tackle multiple **very steep hills** in intervals, with plenty of chances to catch your breath, recover, or skip hills if needed. This hike is designed for intermediate hikers, but it’s **beginner-friendly** since you can skip as many hills as you need. Canoe Camping in Killarney

**Please note the only way to register for this adventure is on [our website.](https://www.wildernessunion.com/adventures/killarney-camping-1)** **Dive into the Killarney backcountry with this beautiful and beginner friendly canoe camping adventure.** We're heading to Bell Lake, on the quieter east side of the park, for a weekend that mixes an easy paddle-in camping trip and an incredible hike to Silver Peak, the highest point in Killarney. Friday, we'll paddle the short 2.5km crossing to our backcountry site, set up camp, and spend the afternoon settling in. The rest of the afternoon is yours to spend how you like. If you want to learn to pitch a tent, get a fire going properly, or handle a canoe, we'll show you. If you'd rather find a rock in the sun and do nothing, that works too. Saturday, you can chill around camp or paddle over and hike Silver Peak, the highest point in the park. It's a roughly 11km round trip, starting on an easy rolling trail before a steep, hands on scramble up exposed quartzite for the final push. At the top, you're rewarded with a 360 degree view over Killarney's white ridges and out to Georgian Bay. Trust us, you won’t get many views in Ontario that are better than this! Both nights, we'll eat around the fire and fall asleep under some of the clearest skies in Ontario. Killarney's stargazing is genuinely other-worldly. On a clear night you'll see the Milky Way and more stars than you knew existed. Sunday, we pack up and paddle back out. By Sunday, you'll have spent two days swimming, paddling, and sleeping under the stars, surrounded by Killarney's unmistakable landscapes. ### 🌿 North Humber River Walk – 6th Annual! 🌿 We’re back for our **sixth year in a row** with this incredible walk — and it has become a true fan favourite! The North Humber River trail is one of Toronto’s most peaceful and nature-filled walks. It’s a longer walk, but that’s part of what makes it so rewarding. You’ll get out of the city, follow the river, explore beautiful natural areas, and see just how far you can go when you give yourself the chance. This walk is about challenging yourself just a little — you'd be surprised how far you can go! If you don't want to complete the entire walk, that's totally okay. You can leave along the way, and I can help you find the nearest way back toward public transit.
