With 16 miles of shoreline, San Pablo Dam Reservoir has the best flat-water kayaking and canoeing in the East Bay. There are many birds and wildlife to see. This is an EASY BEGINNER trip suitable for everyone, canoes and kayaks. San Pablo’s six-lane boat launch facility is open daily for kayaks and canoes. It is on the south end of the reservoir. Parking is $8.00, launch is $4.00, boat Inspection is $6.00. All boats must be inspected before launch to prevent Quagga Mussels from entering EBMUD waters. BE ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN THERE IS NO WATER ANYWHERE ON/IN YOUR BOAT, PADDLES, LIFE JACKETS, ETC. If the inspectors find any water on your equipment, you may be denied entry to the lake for that day. Arrive early to allow time for boat inspections. We will paddle southeast as far as we can, then reverse our direction and paddle into the lake. Pack a lunch and water, we will stop along the shore for a lunch break. There are bathrooms and picnic tables at the launch. PLEASE READ THIS: The organizers of this trip are not experts, not professional paddlers and do not necessarily have safety training or carry any safety equipment. Each paddler must have the training, experience and equipment required to complete this paddle safely, and must assume all personal risks. A Coast Guard approved life jacket or Personal Flotation Device must be worn by everyone while on the water. Rain or bad weather may cancel this trip. Our Sunday Meetups are for **first time or inexperienced** paddlers, and for experienced paddlers who wish to focus on refining their technique. All equipment is provided, but be sure to bring a water bottle and wear clothes you don't mind getting a little wet, and a ZipLoc bag for your keys/phone. In order to RSVP a spot on the boat, please be sure to fill out the following forms before coming out. This will help us with preparing boat seating and enable us to notify you in the event that practice gets cancelled due to weather conditions.
