Weekly Hikes at Reinhardt Redwood Regional Park

A Sunday at 3;00 PM moderate hike in addition to our regular Wednesday hikes at Redwood Park. This is a mostly shaded, 7 mile, 1000 feet elevation, moderate-paced hike at Oakland's Reinhardt Redwood Regional Park. Enter from Redwood Gate https://goo.gl/maps/PrGuttC8dEnxN1KC9 We meet at Fishway Lot (the first parking lot on the left). Fishway is a small, unpaved lot closest to the entrance gate. Both Park Entry and Parking is free and there are 4 parking lots. At 3:00 pm we start with a meet and greet; and each person gets to share 1 or 2 things that made them happy this week. Please be on time and get to know your new friends during the hike. We leave for the hike at 3:05pm. Route to be determined day of the hike. Hike is about 3 hours. We stop at most trail intersections along the hike to regroup. Please make sure to bring enough water and clothes and respect for everyone and nature. No Hurry, No Worry Weekly Wednesday Hikes at Redwood Regional Park 4:30 pm

Join us for a weekly easy/moderate no hurry no worry afternoon hike in the redwood regional park. Enter from Redwood Gate https://goo.gl/maps/PrGuttC8dEnxN1KC9 Park and meet at canyon meadow parking lot (the last one). Please make sure no valuables are left or visible in the car to prevent break-in. At 4:30 pm we will start with meet and greet; and each person gets to share 2-3 things that made them happy this week. Please be on time and get to know your new friends during the hike. Depending on the group we will go fast or slow, 4-5 miles. Route to be determined on day of the hike. The hike is scheduled for 2 hours and I will try to get us back by then though occasionally and depending on the group we may be back a little later. Please make sure to bring enough water and clothes and respect for everyone and nature. Doggie friends are not currently part of the hike. Please be considerate when RSVP’ing and update in advance if you cannot make it so others in the waitlist can join if given enough notice! Headlands Loop, Bobcat to Miwok from Gerbode Lot. 6 miles/1000 ft.

Please join me for a beautiful Headlands loop staring from Gerbode Valley Trailhead parking lot. It has beautiful views. We'll start at Gerbode Valley Trailhead parking lot, which is about 1.6 miles past the Baker-Barry Tunnel on the right hand side. Look for the sign on the right hand side of Bunker Rd that reads "Gerbode Valley Trailhead" (with a right arrow). Turn in there. **Don't use Apple Maps because it takes you to the wrong place.** Google maps gets you to the correct place for this one. Parking is free. We'll meet near the bathroom. We'll hike up Bobcat Trail and down the Miwok Traill. It will be about 6 miles and 1000 feet elevation gain. It's full exposure but could be foggy or windy, with little shade and there is some loose gravel. So you might benefit from bringing poles and using sunscreen. Bring water, snacks if you need them, and good hiking shoes/boots. Please note that the wait time to go through the tunnel can be up to 5 minutes. Please allow extra time. Members really appreciate starting on time and frown at late comers!! **Please have "boots on" and be ready to hike at 9:30.** **IMPORTANT:** For the safety and well-being of the group, please take into consideration the distance/elevation gain-loss and your own fitness level when signing up for a hike. SF Mission Murals - An Urban Walk (4 miles)

Hi Sweeps. Before the predicted El Nino rains hit, I thought it might be fun to try something different. So .... three of our fellow Sweeps hikers did a dry run of an urban walk through San Francisco's Mission District to look at the many beautiful and thought-provoking street murals. It turned out to be a very fun outing, and I think we can manage a small group to do it as a Sweeps event. We started at the 16th Street Bart Station, walked the street murals (with a pastry and coffee stop at an excellent Russian bakery), and ended with lunch at a Mexican restaurant near the 24th Street Bart Station. So, if you feel up to immersion into San Francisco Mission street culture, please jump on your nearest Bart train and join us at 10am in the 16th Street Mission Bart plaza. When you arrive at the 16th Street Mission Station, leave by the SW exit, and take the escalator up to the plaza. See the photos below for a picture of the start location. The weatherman is currently predicting a nice Monday for us.
