CMG Gives Back: Serve Brunch at FAITH MISSION GRANT KITCHEN!

Join us at this CMG Gives Back volunteer event as we get together to help those in need by serving brunch at FAITH MISSION GRANT KITCHEN! We have a great little community of Movie Group friends so rather than see a movie this time, we’ll help “create a better world” by helping serve those in need. Here are complete details and our plan for this event: FAITH MISSION – GRANT KITCHEN: The Faith Mission kitchen and dining room serves residents 3 meals a day, every day of the year. For this event, our group will help prepare food, serve meals, assist residents in the dining room, wash dishes, and clean surfaces. PLAN: We will be preparing / serving / cleaning for BRUNCH from 10:30am to 12:30pm and have space for a total of 7 volunteers. Please arrive at 10:20pm and wear closed-toe shoes and long pants. LOCATION: Faith Mission – Grant Kitchen is located at 245 N. Grant Ave. Enter the kitchen at Dock 1 (in the back of the building), indicated in the attached map. On-site parking in the adjacent lot and street parking and available in the surrounding area. Please see links / attachments for additional info / details. IMPORTANT REMINDER: Our group will be providing all of the volunteers on this day so a firm RSVP count is essential. Please only sign up if you are certain you’ll be able to attend. If something unavoidable comes up, please try to update your RSVP no later than one week prior to the event. With few exceptions, no shows or cancelations within 1 week of the event will not be eligible for future CMG Gives Back events. Visit A.P.E.S. Primate Sanctuary, then hang out at NACHOFEST!

Meet at the American Primate Educational Sanctuary (A.P.E.S.), 8380 Kennedy Rd. Blacklick. A.P.E.S., the American Primate Educational Sanctuary, is a non-profit organization that cares for eight White-Handed Gibbons. Located in Blacklick, they house primates that were previously kept as household pets. They are committed to be protectors, conservationists, caregivers and educators for all primates, especially the Capuchin monkey and the endangered White-Handed Gibbon. When finished at A.P.E.S., we will head on over to Edison Brewery, 785 Science Blvd, Gahanna, for NACHOFEST for an afternoon of live music, community, and a celebration of the NACHO community (stay as long as you'd like; it's open until 6 pm). There are bands playing throughout the event, including the TBDBITL Alumni Band, Clintonville Community Jazz Band, NACHO Saxadillas, Cap City Funk, and the NACHO Street Band\*. The Taquitos Food Truck will be there. \*The NACHO Street Band is made up of Nationwide Children’s Hospital staff, family, and friends working to raise awareness and money for the hospital and the Ronald McDonald House of Central Ohio. Free to attend and donations can be made to the campaign for the Mid-Ohio Food Collective. Every dollar donated means 2 1/2 meals for those in need. ACTIVE WOMEN Photo Shoot!!!

Please humor me. I think this is going to be SOOO much fun! I'd like to get a new pic for our home page on meetup that depicts what we are really about. With FUN being a huge part of that. Still dreaming this and probably will be until the camera clicks but thinking we'll meet a Highbanks. I'll bring big sheets of paper that we can write the letters A C T - you know the rest. We'll make these letters fancy! We will need at least 11 women if we only do the letters and 12 with the 55+. But the really fun part is the props. We're just getting started but I'd like y'all to bring whatever props you can think of that depict activities that we've done - or hope to do. This means bicycles, hiking boots, decks of cards, board games, if someone can bring their dog that would be cool. A paddle board or kayak (I'm imagining a kayak in the front of the group with a woman rowing :). Trying to convince Linda J. to bring one of the APES from the sanctuary :). I've ordered a blow up calf - need a baby bottle to feed it. . . what could we have that would represent recycling or trash? We like to eat out so a plate of food? Mug of beer? Coffee? Bouquets of flowers for the Conservatory etc.? Hoes for conservation work? If you have markers or paints that would be awesome. What else? I hope you think this will be as fun as I do . . . so many fun and creative women in this group! Please list any props you're willing to bring in the comments :). Oh, and we'll walk for maybe 3 miles afterward and then have an optional lunch.

Old Beechwold; What You Don't Know May Surprise You

On this tour we'll enjoy a 2.5 miles stroll through beautiful Old Beechwold. We'll learn about its unique origin, discuss its transformations through time, and witness its hidden gems. Due to the lack of any sidewalks and the narrow, winding roads here the tour size is limited. If you have weak knees or balance issues please bring a hiking pole or two as we may go "off trail" for a bit of our tour, depending on interest. We can discuss lunch options afterward for those folks who would like to go to lunch nearby. I will cancel this tour in the event of likely rain.

Anyone with a heart for service is welcome to join us as we work together to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
