Mish Hebrew classes 1a

Mish Hebrew classes 1a

Sun, May 24, 9:30 PM
From Hebrew classes with Mish Mish, LA

Mish Mish Hebrew classes are back starting April 26. I started organizing Hebrew classes directly with Israeli language instructors because I realized that learning Hebrew would make me feel more connected to Israel and Jewish community These are community-organized, designed to lower the barrier to entry, and built as low-commitment classes so you can actually stick with it. Classes are highly conversational and taught by native Israeli speakers, so you’re learning how people actually speak. This is our 6th session of classes since launching last summer, with multiple levels running and a growing group of returning students. Aleph Bet with Noam Learn to read and write Hebrew, including vowels, block letters, and script Sundays 10–11am PST \| 10 weeks Level 1A (Present Tense) Build conversational Hebrew using present tense Sundays 230–4:00pm PST \| 10 weeks Level 2A (Past Tense) Continue into past tense and expand fluency Sundays 5–6:30pm PST \| 10 weeks Level 3A (Future Tense) Tbd All classes are on Zoom and include recordings if you can’t make a session. Let's go square dancing Downtown near USC! ($20) The 16th ever Los Angeles Old Time Social is happening on May 16th. There are beginner-friendly workshops throughout the day and musicians and folk enthusiasts from up and down the west coast come into town that weekend. Some of them will be putting on a square dance from 7:30-10pm, which is what we'll be attending. Different musicians and callers will be rotating in throughout the night, and we'll keep dancing. Never square danced? Don't worry... all dances are taught. Fun guaranteed! No partner necessary, this is social dancing :) Everyone willing to participate is welcome! Bring your friends -- the more the square-ier! Straight and LGBTQIA+ friendly. We'll meet up there at 7:30pm to watch (and eat) musical cakes before the dancing gets underway. SCHEDULE: 6-7ish - doors 7:00pm - flatfooting workshop (included with evening program admission, if you're interested) 7:30pm - musical cakes + group meet + socializing + beginner-friendly dancing out back (outside) DIRECTIONS: Punch "Velaslavasay Panorama" into maps and it should get there easy. 1122 W 24th St, Los Angeles, CA 90007 PARKING: Street parking. Double-check posted signs. MEETING UP: We'll meet up by the cakes around 7:30pm. (Once you go in, just keep heading back, go out into the back garden, back through the ornate gate, into the courtyard+kitchen. If you get lost, just ask anyone to point you toward the cakes.) If you're late and miss the group meet, once you get to the cakes area, ask anyone to point you to Lindsay, and we'll introduce you to the rest of the group. DRINKS/FOOD INFO: You may bring your own food and water bottle. In years past, they have had donation-based canned/bottled drinks on site. I'm unsure what they will have this year. COST: $20 for the evening program (see ticket link in comments). There is also a limited number of discounted all-day passes still available for $45 (at the time of posting this) if you plan to attend more than the evening program. WHAT TO BRING: • Comfortable shoes for pavement • Layers (the dance will be outside) • Water bottle • Pre-purchased ticket receipt on your phone • Cash for drink donations Tips for the LADIES: * Dresses are fun for twirling, but pants are cool too :) * It's best to wear shoes that won't easily slip off * It's ok (even encouraged) to ask guys to dance :) * Ladies are always right, so ladies are always on the right when dancing (though you are no way limited to dancing the "lady" role--anyone can dance any role) Hope you'll join us!
