Full Moon - Snow Moon
Come and join us for a Snow Moon ceremony. We will be inside with human friendly cats.
We will invite the spirits and guides to join us. We will have a comfortable meditation and some manifestations and intention setting for the new moon cycle.
We will participate in a healing journey. This is very powerful and quite healing.
We will be sharing and discussing some thought-provoking questions.
We can share some stories around the fire and then I will close the ceremony.

This is a laid-back event at our home, I hope that you can join us.
See you then!

Kritikos Toastmasters Meeting
Toastmasters currently has more than 332,000 members in 135 countries. Our club is just one of the more than 15,400 clubs located around the world.
You join a community of learners, and in Toastmasters meetings we learn by doing. Whether you're an executive or a stay-at-home parent, a college student or a retiree, you will improve yourself; building skills to express yourself in a variety of situations. You'll open up a world of new possibilities: giving better work presentations; leading meetings - and participating in them - more confidently; speaking more smoothly off the cuff; even handling one-on-one interactions with family, friends and colleagues more positively.
The environment in a Toastmasters club is friendly and supportive. Everyone at a Toastmasters meeting feels welcome and valued - from complete beginners to advanced speakers. Become the speaker and leader you want to be. Confident, charismatic leaders weren't born that way. Toastmasters members learn to tell their story. They listen and answer. Through our community of learners, they find their path to leadership.

Books and Chill
Everyone’s heard of book clubs where the group reads the same thing and gets together to discuss, which is great… if you have time and interest in whatever’s chosen. This is a different type of book club where you bring whatever you’re currently or recently reading (or just a book you’re super excited about) and talk about it with fellow book lovers.
We’ll start with people arriving/ordering food between 615-645, then go around and introduce ourselveslves and give a very brief synopsis of what we’re reading and why we’re excited (or not!) about it. Then devolve into informal conversations until people need to head out.
The goal Is to create community and connections in a group of strangers - to facilitate this please make sure you have at least a clear first name on your profile.
Upside on Moore has a great selection of food you can order from your phone or at the kiosks. There’s also a bar with happy hour, something for everyone!
Arrival tips: if you’re taking the metro, it’s the building above the Rosslyn exit. If you’re driving, you can park in the public lot under the food hall (entrance from the one way bus street) and validate parking after 6!

Inviting Chronic Pain and Illness to Tea - Free Intro Class
NOTE: You must register through IMCW (see below) in order to get the link to the class.
[REGISTRATION AND INFO through IMCW](https://imcw.org/event/?eventId=1559)
ABOUT THIS SESSION: This class is a free introduction to the course, "Inviting Chronic Pain and Illness to Tea", which starts on January 23. You will have the opportunity to meet the teachers and to explore some of the principles of the course, both didactically and experientially.
ABOUT THE COURSE: “Inviting Chronic Pain and Illness to Tea” is a 4-month live, online course. The purpose of the course is to help participants come to a greater sense of well-being in the presence of chronic pain and illness.
The mindful approach to chronic pain and illness is to turn toward the experience, to gently lean in. We learn how to come to a greater sense of ease in the presence of pain and illness. We learn to return home into our bodies, instead of trying to escape. We learn how our thought processes keep us trapped, and how we can start to think differently to create greater freedom and well-being.
This mindful approach takes time to learn and integrate (hence the 4-month long course). It requires a variety of practices including:
\*cultivating SELF-KINDNESS
\*cultivating a deeper sense of RELAXATION as we encounter pain and illness
\*learning to bring AWARENESS more fully INTO THE BODY
\*noting our HABITUAL THOUGHT PATTERNS and their effects
\*cultivating a sense of GRATITUDE – even for some of the aspects of our lives that challenge us
\*learning to reframe our sense of IDENTITY
\*spending time getting to know the pain and illness more intimately – forming a RELATIONSHIP
\*becoming part of a supportive COMMUNITY
DATE/TIME:
FREE INTRO CLASS: Tuesday, January 7, 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time
[[REGISTRATION](https://imcw.org/event/?eventId=1559)]
17-WEEK COURSE: Tuesdays starting January 21, 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. Eastern Time.

The course is run through the Insight Meditation Community of Washington, the organization started by mindfulness teacher Tara Brach.
COURSE FEE and SCHOLARSHIP: The course tuition is $700.
We are aware that many people who have chronic pain and illness may be underemployed and/or have challenging medical expenses.
SCHOLARSHIP funds are available. No-one will be turned away for lack of funds.
TESTIMONIALS from Past Participants:
"I have learned so many new ways to relate to my very real challenges, with acceptance, with perspective, with self-compassion, with an understanding of the effects of negative thoughts on my body, and of needing things to be a certain way." \~Lucy
"A life changer! I have gained a new perspective on how to be ok with the disease instead of wanting it to go away....The safe space created, a sense of community for healing and growing. Being in the body instead of resisting it." \~Luciana

Want to Truly Heal from Emotional Trauma?
Why are we unhappy? Where does emotional pain come from? Studies show that people who suffer from long-term emotional pain have painful experiences in their lives that were never fully resolved in their mind. In other words, there were issues in the past that were not completely dealt with. This can include abuse in childhood, breakups, divorce, death of a loved one, to name a few.
How do you know whether you have gotten over something painful? Here is an easy test: Do you still have attention on what had happened to you? For instance, do you still find yourself thinking about something painful that you went through? If you are, then you are not over it. In fact, in severe cases, people find themselves playing a "tape" in their mind over and over again.
So how do you heal from your past? How do you stop the "tape" playing in your mind? In this meeting, you will learn a technique to help you with that.
Come join us! Be sure to click on the red "Attend" button below to come to this local event. We look forward to seeing you there.
This group is created by the Dianetics and Scientology life improvement center.
