Tim Atkin's Best of Rueda Tasting with Ticket Discount
Rueda is a region in Spain which produces **only white wines,** predominantly from the Verdejo grape. Tim Atkin and his team have tasted hundreds of wines and they are bringing the best of the region’s wineries under one roof, here in London.
## **What can you expect at this walk-round tasting…**
**The Perfect Score:** You will have the chance to taste our first ever 100 point wine from Rueda made by Bodegas De Alberto.
**Aged Classics:** There will also be plenty of wines from the DO Rueda’s Gran Vino category that shows off the aging potential of the region’s old vines. With a significant number of 100 year old vineyards – the region’s sandier soils were a natural frontier for pesky phylloxera – Rueda can produce impressive complexity.
**Exploring the Limits:** Rueda is a region of impressive innovation. Many wines in the region are now fermented and aged in amphora (or tinaja), like Emilio Pita’s Terracota 2024.
**A Wine for Every Occasion:** While many of Rueda’s wines are worthy of long cellaring, it is important to remember that not all of us have the patience to wait! Lucky for us, the quality of the region’s young wines keeps improving every year: they are honest and authentic expressions of this exceptional terroir.
**This is a walk-round tasting which will last from 5.30 to 8.30** and you can get there at any time, but don't delay if you want to taste as many wines as possible! I will be there from the start to welcome you and introduce you to other members of the group. **I will do a guided wine walk at 6.30 pm** but this will be limited to 4 people and preference will be given to new members. **Tickets are normally £30, however I have a discount for members of this group......£27 INCLUDING Meetup/Paypal fees.** You will be sent a ticket during the week of the event. I have reserved 10 tickets for the group
**Please note that Meetup now charge an additional fee to attendees on top of the price which the Organiser sets. This fee is paid direct to Meetup and is beyond our control.**
**REFUNDS:** If you cancel your place by Friday 24th April you will get a refund of £25 but, IMPORTANT PLEASE NOTE, only if there is someone on the 'waitlist' who books and pays for your place.
**WAITLIST:** If this event is fully booked and you would like to attend if someone cancels, post a comment in the event to let me know that you are interested.
Cheers,
Christos

3 day | Milebuilding & Night Passages | Channel crossing / West Country
***PLEASE NOTE:*** *Signup for our events must be made through the London Sailing Club website, and not via Meetup - [click here to register](https://www.londonsailing.club/Events/Calendar/View?id=206). If you are not already a member of the club you will need to become a full or social member which you can do [by clicking here](https://www.londonsailing.club/Registration/Register?isSlotReAssignment=False).*
**Come and stretch your legs with some longer passages, experience night sailing, and maybe even cross the Channel... This mile-builder trip intends to sail well beyond the Solent, and is best-suited to people who've already done some sailing. This is a non-commercial trip run on a shared-cost basis.**
*Plan*
Our plan will be to arrive at Port Hamble Marina on Friday by 4pm latest. After a safety briefing and a tour of the yacht, we’ll most likely want to set sail that evening. Our cruising itinerary will be tailored to the weather, tides, and the group’s wishes, but the idea is to undertake some longer passages across to Cherbourg or Alderney, or down the South West Coast towards Weymouth. There'll be time to swim and relax, but there'll also be times when we're at sea for c.15 hours, including sailing at night and running a watch system. We'll return to Port Hamble Marina around lunchtime on Monday.
*Yacht*
We’ve chartered a modern 37ft Beneteau Oceanis that’s licensed to carry 8 people, but we’ll be a maximum of 6 plus skipper to ensure everyone has enough space and a proper chance to be involved in the sailing. Accommodation will be aboard the yacht in shared double cabins. The boat will have hot and cold water, a loo, heating, and when on shore plenty of electricity for charging phones. Note that during offshore passages some cabins may be uncomfortable for sleeping in, and therefore some 'hot bunking' may be required as part of the watch system.
*Skipper*
The Skipper is yet to be decided but will be an experienced sailor from the club, most likely assisted by a skipper in training from the club's Take The Helm scheme. More information will follow on them and their experience.
*Kit*
No special or expensive sailing kit required. Just bring practical footwear and clothing to suit the weather forecast. It gets cold offshore at night, so bring warm layers plus a warm hat and gloves. Lifejackets are provided. Foul weather gear can be hired locally if needed. Towels and bedding aren’t provided, so please bring a towel, pillow and sleeping bag. Don't forget to pack sunglasses, sunscreen, passport, swimming kit and, if you have one, a headtorch with a red bulb. You can read more about [suitable kit by clicking here](https://www.londonsailing.club/Cms/Spaces/DEFAULT/Recommended+kit+lists+for+sailing+trips)
*Cost*
This is a non-commercial trip run on a shared-cost basis. The cost is £385 per person, which covers the yacht charter (as it's a bank holiday weekend charter costs are higher than usual but we are able to benefit from a the club's 15% discount), fuel, marina/harbour fees, breakfasts, lunches, snacks and soft drinks, as well as a £5 contribution to the club's Muck Up Fund which allows us to help skippers on club trips manage the risk of accidental damage caused by trip participants. It doesn’t cover evening meals ashore or getting yourself to/from the trip. A deposit of £100 on booking is required to secure your place, with the balance payable three months before the event. Note that, because this trip is being advertised via the London Sailing Club’s platforms, any participant who is not already a full member of the Club (which costs £24 per year) will need to join prior to the start of the trip.
*Visas / Immigration*
This trip may involve crossing an international border. For UK and EU passport holders any visa process is likely to be straightforward. However if you have an overseas passport, or a particular visa situation, it is your responsibility to ensure you have whatever paperwork you need in place to travel to France and/or the Channel Islands. Every sailor on the trip will almost certainly need a valid passport with plenty of time left before it expires.
London Sailing Club Terms and Conditions apply.

Whether you’re seeking stress relief, personal growth, or community, our groups offer everyone a unique and welcoming environment.
## **Why Join?**
* **Improve Mental & Physical Well-Being** – Movement, nature, and supportive conversations reduce stress and promote balance.
* **Feel Less Alone** – Build genuine connections with like-minded people in a safe, welcoming space.
* **Gain Clarity & Perspective** – Step outside daily routines and into a space designed for personal growth and reflection.
## **The Ideal Group Leader**
The ideal group leader
* Has a born-in passion for mental health, movement, connecting with nature and building community.
* Has 5 extra hours per week to dedicate to a meaningful cause for at least one year. Yes, you can leave any organization at any time and we can also ask you to leave, but we are building with legacy in mind and we need people who can commit and be ALL IN on this mission to build with us.
* Is independently financially stable with the ability to volunteer with no expectation of pay. This is a deeply beautiful journey of service that all participants commit to at Speak Your Mind.
* An ability to manage groups with high emotional intelligence and desire for human connection.
* An ability to self-motivate and market/promote their group on Facebook and other social platforms.
* Nature informed therapy or clinical therapists/psychologists a plus.
## **Our Impact**

Since launching, we have helped thousands find support, connection, and healing through our Outdoor Movement Groups. 100% of participants surveyed have reported:
* A noticeable improvement in mental clarity and emotional well-being.
* An increase in social connection and a sense of belonging.
* Said they would return again.
We believe mental health should be accessible, community-driven, and rooted in nature. Join us and take the first step toward a more connected, grounded, and supported version of yourself.
### **Why Our Groups are Donation-Based**
Our Outdoor Movement Groups are made possible through a donation-based model. This approach allows us to keep our events accessible to everyone, regardless of financial circumstances, while also ensuring that we can continue expanding our reach. It’s a great way to pay it forward and support the growth of this beautiful mission!
Every contribution helps us:
* **Cover Essential Costs** – Donations allow us to pay essential legal, marketing, insurance, and admin costs as well as nourish the important people who run the organization.
* **Grow Our Mission** – With your support, we can bring these healing experiences to thousands more people in the future and execute our long term plan to expand across the USA, affecting up to 500,000 people per year.
By choosing to contribute, you’re not just leading an event—you’re helping build a mental health movement that supports long-term well-being and connection for all during a severe mental health epidemic.
